Chapter 475 Shareholders' Meeting

"Is this kid really Charles'?"

Frank rubbed his temples, feeling a headache coming on, and asked suddenly.

"Kind of."

Eugene scratched the back of his head, sounding unsure.

Zachary's kid had some connection to Charles, but since the biological father was dead, it didn't really matter whose kid he was as long as he was part of the Percy family.

Frank sensed there was more to the story, but didn't want to dig deeper. In TV shows, the characters who know too much tend to die quickly. He preferred to keep his distance from Charles and let Eugene handle these troublesome matters.

"Alright, get out."

He waved his hand, signaling Eugene to leave.

Eugene chuckled, realizing his brother wasn't going to hold a grudge. He nodded quickly.

"Okay, Frank, I'm heading out. Good luck with work. Bye!"

"Don't forget to return the kid!"

"I know, I know."

After their conversation, Eugene reverted to his usual arrogant demeanor.

As he left the office, he raised an eyebrow at the female secretary.

"Where's the kid?"

The secretary pointed to the lounge and whispered,

"Hatty took him there. He should be playing."

"This kid running around with others got me scolded. He's having a great time."

Eugene muttered as he walked towards the lounge.

Sure enough, Benjamin was sitting next to a beautiful secretary who was feeding him grapes while he was engrossed in his tablet.

"Benjamin."

Eugene stood at the door, speaking slowly like a ghost.

Hatty was the first to notice him. She stood up with a bright smile.

"Mr. Bailey, you're here? Whose child is this? He's so handsome."

Hatty, though Frank's secretary, was lively and sociable, a true social butterfly.

She was equally at ease with Eugene.

But Eugene wasn't in the mood for chit-chat. He waved his hand dismissively.

"You don't need to know. Just leave. I need to talk to him."

Hatty didn't lose heart at Eugene's refusal to answer her question. She turned to Benjamin and waved.

"Little guy, I'm leaving now. Bye-bye."

Benjamin, still focused on his tablet, looked up at the sound of her voice and waved back.

"Goodbye."

Once Hatty left, only the two of them remained in the room.

Benjamin met Eugene's gaze for a few seconds before quickly looking away.

"Mr. Bailey, are we going back now?"

Such a polite and well-behaved child.

If Benjamin hadn't caused him trouble today, Eugene might have believed he was innocent.

"Benjamin, I told you to stay in the office. Why did you run off with strangers?"

"Strangers? Mr. Frank Bailey is your brother, not a stranger."

Benjamin blinked, pretending not to understand.

"You know that's not what I meant."

"Well, you didn't take me to play. Mr. Percy asked you to accompany me, and you didn't fulfill your duty. It's your fault."

Benjamin dropped the act, putting down his tablet and making a face.

Eugene was furious. He took a deep breath, looking around for something to discipline the child with.

Benjamin saw his intention and stood up quickly, shouting,

"If you dare hit me, I'll tell Mr. Percy and your brother, and they'll punish you."

Benjamin knew who the real big shots were.

But today, Eugene had to teach Benjamin a lesson.

Benjamin pouted, glancing at him, but Eugene suddenly smiled.

"I can't discipline you, but Charles can. I'll tell him how you ran off today."

Benjamin's expression changed instantly.

He had been punished for running off before. If Eugene told Charles, he wouldn't escape another punishment.

He frowned and said seriously,

"Don't tell him."

"Is that how you ask for a favor?"

Eugene crossed his arms, regaining some of his authority.

"Sorry! I shouldn't have run off today. Please forgive me."

Benjamin gritted his teeth, forcing out an apology. Though his attitude wasn't great, it was still an apology, and Eugene was satisfied.

He snorted and smirked.

"Fine, I forgive you. Let's go, I'll take you home."

---

Percy Group, CEO's office.

Diana sat on the couch, bored, fiddling with her phone.

She had unlocked the phone's permissions and just informed Dean she was safe.

As for Benjamin, she wasn't sure of his situation and didn't contact him to avoid exposure.

After a knock on the door, Abigail entered with a fruit platter.

Seeing Diana alone on the couch, she greeted her.

"Ma'am, have some fruit. Mr. Percy's meeting will take another hour."

Diana looked at the clock on the wall. He had been in there for an hour already, and the meeting would last another hour?

"What kind of meeting takes so long?"

Since it was company business, Abigail hesitated before giving a vague explanation.

"A shareholders' meeting. They tend to be lengthy."

Diana frowned and responded. She didn't know the meeting was about her.

---

The meeting room had been noisy for an hour.

Charles sat at the head of the table, resting his head on his hand, looking indifferent.

Next to him, Nolan was serious, occasionally correcting the shareholders.

"Mr. Percy, we support your marriage, but as the CEO of Percy Group, you represent the entire company. Your marriage isn't just personal; it affects the company's honor!"

An elderly shareholder spoke with a pained expression.

In a company of their size, the major shareholders' marital status was public, especially Charles'.

"Yes, Mr. Percy, you got married without informing us. What about the company?"

"Young people these days love quick marriages..."

The shareholders chattered noisily.

Some shareholders who favored Elise couldn't hide their thoughts.

One shareholder glanced at Charles and spoke.

"Since Mr. Percy is married, who is the CEO's wife? Why haven't we been informed?"

Nolan was also troubled. When Charles decided to marry, he hadn't planned to keep it a secret.

Now, with the shareholders collectively protesting, Charles remained silent, leaving Nolan to explain.

What could he say? He couldn't tell them the boss's ex-wife had come back to life and they remarried.

Nolan took a deep breath, maintaining a calm exterior.

"Mr. Percy's marriage was carefully considered. You'll soon know who she is."
