Chapter 541 Witness

"Mr. Zachary Percy, you can't just throw accusations like that. It's not only damaging Ms. Spencer's reputation, but it could mess up the cooperation between our two companies," Nolan said, his voice firm.

Clifton, standing nearby, rolled his eyes and chimed in casually, "Well, we don't know if it's true, but I remember Ms. Spencer and Mr. Richardson have known each other for years. Their relationship..."

He left the sentence hanging, but his meaning was clear.

Everyone in the room exchanged glances, and some of the major shareholders started recalling events from five years ago.

Back then, the Percy Group and the Richardson Group were at each other's throats, with Charles relentlessly targeting the Richardson Group.

Shareholders had long speculated whether there was bad blood between the Percy and Richardson families.

But now, with Zachary's reminder, they suddenly wondered if Diana was involved.

"Ms. Spencer, even though you're handling company affairs for Mr. Charles Percy, we shareholders can't tolerate any abuse of power for personal gain," another shareholder said seriously.

Dean, hearing this, was immediately displeased. He slammed the table and cursed, "Have you not seen how much profit the company has made? If you have the guts, don't take your dividends at the end of the year. Stop pretending to be a righteous hero."

The shareholder, not expecting such bluntness, looked angry and embarrassed, "You! Who do you think you are? Get him out of here!"

Dean wasn't afraid. He glared, stood up straight, and his burly frame blocked a large part of the view. Even from a distance, the shareholder couldn't help but shrink back.

"Fine, you guys are so great. I'm leaving!" Dean threw out the words, glanced at Diana at the head of the table, and walked out without looking back.

The situation escalated so quickly that Nolan didn't have time to intervene. He only heard the door slam shut, and Dean was gone.

Panic surged in Nolan's heart as he quickly looked at Diana.

She calmly adjusted her hair, crossed her arms, and said in a flat tone, "You accuse me of misconduct based on these photos? It's just basic social etiquette. Everyone here knows what goes on at those business dinners. Mr. Zachary Percy, if you want to smear me, at least find something more scandalous."

These men were often seen with women at business dinners. Accusing her of infidelity based on a few photos was insufficient evidence.

Zachary had been secretly following her. If he had more incriminating photos, he would have shown them already. Diana was betting he had no substantial evidence.

"If a couple of photos together mean infidelity, then none of you here are faithful to your marriages. For example, I could take a photo with Mr. Zachary Percy right now. Does that mean I'm cheating?"

Diana smiled, looking completely unthreatened.

The room fell silent, and Nolan felt cold sweat on his back.

He looked at Diana with concern, while the murmurs around him felt like venomous snakes in his ears. He gripped his pen tightly, his knuckles white.

"Mr. Zachary Percy, the authenticity of these photos is still uncertain. Mr. Richardson and our company were just having a normal business meeting."

"Is that so?" Zachary stood up slowly, his long fingers tapping the table.

"Then how do you explain this contract? The Richardson Group acquired the Eastside property at 30% below market price, and the signatory is you, Ms. Spencer."

The room erupted in shock.

Diana's head snapped up. She had never seen that contract before. "This is impossible! That contract is forged!"

"Forged?" Zachary chuckled, "I have a witness."

He clapped his hands, and the door opened. Claire walked in, holding a file. She looked terrified, biting her lip as she glanced at Diana before quickly looking away, as if afraid people wouldn't notice her guilt.

Zachary sneered internally. Claire was quite the actress. Outwardly, he maintained a serious demeanor, "Tell us everything you know, Claire. It's not too late to redeem yourself."

"Claire?" Nolan muttered, stunned.

Claire had been with the company for five years. Despite her connection to Elise, Nolan had treated her like any other employee due to the passage of time.

But this elaborate trap couldn't have been set up overnight. It was clear Claire had been secretly plotting all along.

Betrayal was intolerable!

Diana realized this too. Her expression tightened as she stood up, her voice trembling with anger, "This is blatant slander!"

"Zachary, are you so desperate to take over the company that you'd resort to such low tactics? Claire is just a temporary secretary. It's too coincidental that this happened during her short tenure. This is a pathetic attempt!"

"Ms. Spencer, stop denying it! I can't keep doing these things for you," Claire suddenly raised her voice, drawing everyone's attention.

She looked determined, like a villain who had suddenly seen the light, and began to accuse Diana.

"You and Mr. Richardson have been meeting secretly under the guise of business, and you even had me book romantic restaurants... If you deny this, I have meeting records and recordings."

Claire pulled out a USB drive.

Diana almost laughed in anger. She clenched her fists, her eyes cold as she stared at them, waiting to hear more nonsense.

But to others, it seemed like she had nothing to say in the face of evidence.

Zachary glanced at her, then turned to the table, his voice persuasive, "Shareholders, given Ms. Spencer's alleged misconduct, I propose we immediately revoke her acting position and have the board elect a new interim leader."

"So that's your true motive," Diana scoffed, reaching out to Claire, "Give me the USB drive. I'll verify its authenticity."

As a hacker, this level of forgery was child's play for her.

Zachary had calculated that she couldn't do anything, so he wanted to quickly remove her from her position.

That way, even if she tried to fight back later, there would be no evidence.

"No, I won't let you destroy crucial evidence," Zachary said with a smug smile, his voice dripping with arrogance.

He lowered his head, leisurely adjusting his cuffs, a sinister glint in his eyes, "Ms. Spencer, with both witness and evidence against you, asking for the evidence only makes the shareholders more suspicious of your motives."

Claire chimed in at the right moment, "Ms. Spencer, just admit it. Everyone knows your relationship with Mr. Richardson is... um, more than just business."

She paused deliberately, letting the suggestive implication hang in the air.

The shareholders, who had been merely suspicious, now felt more convinced.
