Chapter 293 Go Home and Take a Look
Billy didn't answer right away.
Instead, he stood up, glanced at his watch, and then casually said, "Because I know Diana. She's not the type to have an affair. If she wanted to see me, she'd do it openly."
Besides, Clara was no good. Diana would never use her to send a message.
As soon as he finished speaking, Chloe's expression changed slightly. She suddenly felt a bit foolish.
Of course, Billy wasn't the type to fall for someone else so quickly. That wouldn't be like him at all.
But she couldn't help feeling a bit jealous.
Chloe tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and tried to sound indifferent, "Ms. Spencer must be a very straightforward person."
"Yeah, she is. She's a really good person," Billy replied softly, his voice carrying an indescribable emotion.
After a moment, he collected himself and smiled slightly, "Let's go shopping."
Meanwhile, Clara had already called Claire to inform her of the situation. She was furious and impatient, "This was your plan, and now I've been kicked out. What are we supposed to do?"
On the other end of the line, Claire's voice was calm.
She was casually admiring her manicure and only spoke after Clara finished ranting, "Who said Billy and Diana have to actually have an affair?"
"What do you mean?"
"I mean, as long as someone appears to be close to Diana under Charles' nose, whether it's real or not, he'll feel betrayed. No man can stand that," Claire explained, feeling a bit impatient.
Sometimes she really wanted to open up Clara's skull to see what her brain was made of. How could she be so stupid?
If Billy was willing to cooperate, catching them red-handed would be great. But if he wasn't, they could just fabricate something.
After Claire finished speaking, Clara finally understood, "Right! We can make up whatever we want!"
"Exactly. As long as it damages their relationship, it's beneficial for us. Now that Mr. Percy is willing to help you with the lawsuit, once he sees Diana's true colors, you might even get your job back and continue being his secretary," Claire said, her tone gentle and persuasive.
Clara was convinced, her voice filled with excitement, "Alright, I will make sure Mr. Percy dumps that bitch Diana!"
Claire agreed repeatedly, but after hanging up, she sneered and muttered, "Idiot."
At the Percy Mansion, Tessa was watching Diana and Evelyn making crafts from a distance while texting Clara.
She had been monitoring Diana like a hawk these past few days, always lurking in the shadows.
Diana had noticed Tessa's surveillance but didn't care since Tessa hadn't done anything else.
"Ms. Spencer, when will Jacob be better? I kind of miss him," Evelyn said, shifting to block Diana from Tessa's view.
Diana chuckled, "When Jacob comes back, you won't be able to spend every day with me."
"True! Jacob is so strict. Fine, let her watch. With Mr. Percy not home, life is pretty comfortable," Evelyn said.
But as soon as she finished, the sound of a car engine and the servants' greetings came from outside. "Mr. Percy."
Evelyn's face changed instantly. She yelped and scrambled to her feet, "Speak of the devil! Ms. Spencer, I'm out of here."
If Charles saw them together, he'd definitely be angry again.
In a flash, she was gone, leaving Diana alone on the carpet surrounded by Christmas decorations.
When Charles walked in, he saw this scene. He had been very busy lately and missed Diana a lot.
After handling most of his work, he left it to Nolan and came home to see her.
The Percy Mansion was decorated festively for Christmas. He used to dislike these things. When James was around, he only celebrated with Elise and the others.
Zachary received many Christmas gifts. Only Juniper would prepare a gift for Charles. After she passed away, he stopped celebrating.
But now, seeing Diana sitting among the decorations, her dress covered in colorful ribbons, she looked like a gift herself.
He felt a sudden sense of relaxation, perhaps the happiness Juniper always talked about—having a family.
Diana turned her head and saw Charles standing there. She didn't greet him and continued working on her puzzle.
Seriously, he scared Evelyn away as soon as he got home. How long would it take her to finish this big puzzle alone?
Charles wasn't angry at her silence. Instead, he felt even more at peace. He stepped forward and bent down to pick her up.
Diana was caught off guard and clung to his neck, "What are you doing?"
See, she spoke up first.
He smiled slightly, feeling her hold him tighter, "The floor is cold. Let's go upstairs."
As Charles moved, the bell on Diana's ankle jingled softly. The sound was pleasant but made her anxious.
She grabbed his collar, her voice annoyed, "What nonsense are you talking about? The house has underfloor heating. If I got cold here, it would be a paranormal event. Put me down! I'm not going upstairs!"
Every time they went upstairs, nothing good happened. Even though it was daytime, she didn't want to go upstairs with Charles.
Feeling her warmth and softness, he relented and put her back down. Diana glared at him and sat back down to continue her puzzle.
As for Charles, she didn't care what he did. He was probably going back to work, which was fine. They could each do their own thing.
As Diana placed a puzzle piece, she suddenly heard a rustling sound.
Charles sat down next to her, their shoulders touching. She could even feel his body heat through their thin clothes.
Charles naturally picked up a puzzle piece and compared it to the example picture.
After a long silence, Diana couldn't hold back and gritted her teeth, "Charles, did you come home just to play? At your age, you should be working hard. If not now, when? How can you just play around?"
Charles' hair had grown a bit long, covering part of his stern face, making him look somewhat innocent, like a large dog being scolded.
"I have a lot of money. I can support countless versions of you. Even if I don't work, I have more money than I could ever spend."
