Chapter 515 The Pawn Repeatedly Used

"No way!"

Before Diana could respond, the bathroom door flew open, and Dean burst out, rejecting the proposal on her behalf.

He completely ignored the shock on the faces of the other three at his sudden appearance.

"What are you doing out here? Get back inside!"

Diana frowned and ordered, but then realized it was pointless to hide him now that he was exposed.

Nolan's eyes widened as he stood up straight, pointing at Dean.

"Who are you? What are you doing here? Ms. Spencer, what's going on?"

He stammered, his mind racing.

Charles had just had an accident, and now there was a strange man in Diana's room. Could it be that she...

This was unacceptable! What should he do? Chase the man away and hide Diana back at the Percy Mansion?

But that was Charles's job!

For the first time in his twenty-something years, Nolan felt out of his depth at work.

"Who cares who I am? Get lost. We're not going to clean up your mess. If Charles wakes up, he'll handle it. But if he doesn't, do you expect Diana to manage the company for you forever? What a loyal servant you are. How much is Charles paying you?"

Dean didn't hold back his sarcasm. Diana rubbed her temples and frowned.

"Shut up."

Then she turned to Nolan and explained, "This is my brother. He's not a bad person. He came because he heard I was in trouble."

Brother? Nolan was confused.

He remembered Diana only had a half-sister who had died long ago. When did she get a brother?

"We're not related by blood, but we're as close as family."

Diana saw his confusion and added a few more words before quickly changing the subject.

"I agree to what you asked."

Dean, who had been feeling smug about being called her brother, immediately looked crestfallen at her response.

"Diana! How can you agree to this? Don't you want to go back?"

Nolan's gaze shifted between the two of them, suddenly recalling Diana's departure five years ago.

So that incident wasn't her doing alone; it was because of this man?

With that thought, many questions started to make sense.

"Ms. Spencer, thank you. Thank you."

He first thanked Diana for agreeing, then addressed Dean's question.

"The doctor said Mr. Percy has a good chance of waking up. What I mentioned earlier was the worst-case scenario. Of course, if he's really that unlucky, I'll let Ms. Spencer go. After all, with my boss in that state, there's no point in me working myself to death for him."

Nolan was being honest. He could only make the best decision based on the current situation.

"Fine, I'll help you. But if Charles wakes up and I want to leave, you can't stop me."

Diana continued.

Dean added, "And their marriage has to end. No matter how you tricked Diana into marrying him, once we've helped you, it's over."

Nolan subtly avoided eye contact. This was a negotiation, and he had to offer terms that would satisfy the other party.

As for what would happen later, he'd take it one step at a time.

With that in mind, he quickly nodded.

"Alright!"

Benjamin, who had been silent in the corner, finally spoke up after they finished talking.

"Can I see Mr. Percy now?"

Nolan noticed him and his expression changed slightly.

Before Charles's accident, Benjamin was his leverage against Elise. But now, Benjamin's identity had become a ticking time bomb.

If Elise presented evidence of his identity, he would appear at the shareholders' meeting as the future heir of the Percy Group.

But Benjamin was still young, and appearing in the public eye so early wouldn't be good for him.

These were matters Nolan needed to discuss with Diana.

He took a deep breath and shook his head.

"You can see him tomorrow. I need to go back and handle company matters. I'll assign someone to take care of you. If you have any issues, contact me anytime."

With that, he nodded slightly to Diana and left the room.

As soon as he left, Dean frowned.

"Seriously? You were just supposed to wait for him to wake up. Now you're running the company for him? Are you a saint or something? Do you love doing good deeds that much? We could've been out of the country by now."

"Dean, don't talk to Mommy like that. We owe him our lives. If it weren't for him, you'd be collecting our bodies right now."

Benjamin defended Diana, his expression serious.

The next second, Dean grabbed his face, gritting his teeth.

"How long have you known him, and you're already taking his side? Benjamin, you're so ungrateful!"

Benjamin's speech was slurred from having his face pinched, but he persisted.

"I'm not! If Mommy and I went back with you, that would be real ingratitude. He may be annoying, but he's saved me twice!"

Twice, Charles had taken a bullet.

And despite Benjamin being the child of his hated brother, Charles had shown him kindness purely out of his own heart.

As the two bickered, Diana felt a heavy weight on her chest.

She closed her eyes, recalling Charles's words at the factory.

Charles had said a lot, probably fearing he wouldn't get another chance. His usual cold demeanor had given way to a more human side due to fear and the prospect of loss.

Diana hadn't paid much attention to his words at the time, but thinking back, her emotions felt like a lump of cotton stuck in her throat.

She didn't understand why she felt this way.

Hearing Benjamin and Dean argue, she instinctively defended Charles.

"If I hadn't been too merciful, this kidnapper wouldn't have appeared."

Charles had wanted to avenge her, to completely take over the White Group.

She had thought it was unfair to Stella, who had also given her youth.

But every meeting between them ended badly, sometimes even in physical fights.

The seeds of hatred grew day by day.

But Diana still couldn't figure out how Elise was involved in all this.

She bit her lip, recalling the situation.

If Charles hadn't arrived in time, she and Benjamin would have been killed. Stella had made it clear that their deaths would be blamed on a serial killer.

And the sudden explosion afterward seemed like Elise's doing. She wanted to kill everyone, including Stella.

A pawn repeatedly used had become the sharpest knife against Charles.

Diana stopped thinking and bit her lip.

"Benjamin is right. I owe him. Once I help him this time, I'll consider it repaid. If I want to leave, he can't stop me."

Dean, worn out by the mother-son duo, took a deep breath and said calmly, "Fine, do whatever you want. But I'm not helping him."
