Chapter 531 Company Meeting
As the acting CEO of the Percy Group, it was no secret that Diana held this position. So when Billy called, she wasn't surprised.
The past was behind them; now, they were just business partners.
However, their conversation was interrupted by Charles, and Diana couldn't stop thinking about it.
She didn't stay with him long, giving him some instructions before getting up to leave.
"Are you leaving?" Charles grabbed the hem of her coat, his eyes showing that familiar look of helplessness.
Diana turned her gaze away this time, gently removing his hand.
"I need to go to the office for a meeting. I'll come back tonight. If you get bored, I can ask Eugene to come over."
"No need. I'll just wait for you here," Charles replied unexpectedly, withdrawing his hand and returning to his usual demeanor.
Diana let out a barely noticeable sigh of relief and left with a smile.
But as soon as the door closed, Charles's face darkened, and he dialed a number.
The phone barely rang before Nolan picked up. "Mr. Percy, what can I do for you?"
"Keep an eye on Diana. I want to know which 'old friend' she's meeting with," Charles ordered.
Nolan was taken aback. "Me?"
He was currently on a business trip in a neighboring city. If he were to return suddenly...
"Or should I crawl to the office myself?" Charles's tone was icy, sending a shiver down Nolan's spine despite the summer heat.
Though Charles hadn't regained his memory, his personality was becoming more and more like before.
"I'll head back immediately. Don't worry, Mr. Percy. I'll report any updates to you right away."
With Nolan's assurance, Charles quickly hung up.
He put away his phone and looked disdainfully at his bandaged leg.
He wanted to vent his frustration on his broken body but had to adjust to a position that would aid his recovery.
After hanging up, Nolan immediately booked the earliest ticket back to Evergreen City.
But the earliest train wasn't until the evening. If he waited until then, Charles might actually crawl over to kill him.
After three minutes of contemplation, Nolan decided to outsource this important task.
At the Percy Group, Abigail was organizing meeting notes when her phone suddenly rang.
Seeing the familiar name, she quickly answered with a smile, "Nolan, how's the business trip going?"
"Pretty well, but there's something very important I need you to handle," Nolan said directly, not wanting to waste time.
Abigail assumed it was something like mailing documents or getting a signature and agreed without hesitation.
"Sure, I have some time later. What do you need me to do?"
"What's Ms. Spencer doing right now?" Nolan asked suddenly.
Abigail glanced towards the CEO's office.
Since Diana took over, she and Claire had moved their desks upstairs.
But Claire had been taking frequent leaves lately and wasn't around today.
She snapped back to attention and answered Nolan's question, "I'm not sure. She might be working with Dean."
Indeed, Diana had brought Dean in as a special assistant to help share her workload.
Initially, there was some discontent about this new assistant, but once everyone realized he was just following Diana around, they stopped complaining.
"Alright, the boss of the Richardson Group is coming over soon. I need you to greet him and keep an eye on Ms. Spencer. Report any developments immediately, and try to record their conversation if possible," Nolan instructed seriously.
"Me?" Abigail was puzzled. "Isn't it just a business meeting? Why do I need to monitor Ms. Spencer?"
"Abigail, don't forget who our real boss is. This is Mr. Percy's order. Remember, don't let them know," Nolan said mysteriously, finally convincing Abigail.
She nodded seriously, "Got it."
After hanging up, Abigail stopped what she was doing and kept an eye on the CEO's office, afraid to miss any movement.
About half an hour later, there was still no activity from the office. Abigail yawned, feeling bored and sleepy.
Just as she was dozing off with her head propped on her hand, someone gently knocked on her desk.
Abigail snapped awake and saw a handsome, refined man standing in front of her.
He had beautiful chestnut curls and looked to be in his late twenties, smiling warmly.
"Hello, I'm here to see Diana. I have an appointment," he said.
Abigail was momentarily stunned by his good looks.
Though Charles was also handsome, their styles were completely different.
If Charles was like a cold, distant mountain, this man was like a fragrant meadow, inviting and approachable.
"Hello, are you Mr. Richardson? Ms. Spencer is busy right now. I'll take you to the lounge to wait," Abigail said, flustered, as she got up and hurriedly ran out and back.
Billy found her reaction amusing and chuckled softly. "Just point me in the right direction. I can find my way."
Relieved, Abigail pointed him to the lounge and then rushed to the CEO's office.
Inside, Diana was reviewing documents. Seeing Abigail knock and enter, she asked, "Is the guest here?"
Abigail nodded, "Yes, a Mr. Richardson. Do you need me to prepare anything?"
"No need," Diana replied, closing her file and standing up. "Is he at the door or in the lounge?"
"The lounge," Abigail answered, biting her lip nervously. "Should I prepare a meeting room or any documents?"
Her questions were unprofessional, but it was her first time handling such a task, and she was understandably anxious.
How was she supposed to monitor Diana? She couldn't just follow her around.
Diana didn't notice her unease and simply said, "No need. We'll talk downstairs."
"Downstairs?" Abigail's voice rose, causing Diana to glance at her.
Realizing her mistake, Abigail quickly smiled, "I mean, should I book a restaurant or follow you to take notes?"
Diana shook her head, putting on her coat. "No, we'll just chat at the café downstairs. It's nothing important. You can go back to your work."
"But..." Abigail tried to protest, but Diana had already left the office.
Once Diana was out of sight, Abigail quickly pulled out her phone to message Nolan.
Billy sat in the lounge, nervously rubbing his hands on his knees.
The thought of seeing Diana again made him feel like he was heading into battle.
If it weren't for Diana taking over the Percy Group and him seeing her familiar face on TV, he would never have known she was still alive.
