Chapter 58 Just Do It

Billy chuckled and reached out to ruffle Diana's hair. He'd been wanting to do that for a while; her hairstyle today made her look like a cute little lamb. Diana didn't see it coming and was totally caught off guard.

"If you wanna check out the view, there's an attic on the east side," Billy said. "I can take you there. Just don't climb over the wall next time."

Diana took a step back, keeping her cool. "Alright, if that's all, I'm gonna head out. Bye." As she turned to leave, Billy grabbed her wrist.

Diana yelped in pain, surprising him. He hadn't meant to hurt her. "Sorry, I just wanted to talk to you more," Billy apologized.

Diana glanced down at her right hand and noticed a nasty cut on her palm. Must've happened when she climbed the wall earlier. She hadn't felt it until now.

Billy followed her gaze and saw the wound too. He quickly pulled out a handkerchief from his pocket, gently lifted her injured hand, and carefully wrapped it up. He was so gentle, like he was handling something precious.

Diana wasn't dumb. She asked, "Billy, do you like me?" Even though they'd only met less than an hour ago, his actions made it pretty obvious.

Billy didn't expect her to just come out and say it. His long-time crush was out in the open, and he blushed. Avoiding her eyes, he quietly said, "Yeah."

Then he turned serious. "I fell for you at first sight. I had a huge crush on you in high school. But you were always so busy. I tried talking to you so many times, but you just ignored me."

Diana didn't know how to respond. To her, men's love was cheap. But Billy's status could be useful. If she remembered right, Billy owned this estate.

Seeing her silence, Billy thought she might already have someone else. He cautiously asked, "Are you married?"

Diana shook her head but didn't say anything. She had been married and divorced, so technically, she wasn't married.

Billy continued, "Do you have a boyfriend?"

Diana shook her head again. This time, it was true.

Billy was thrilled, looking at her excitedly, and started to ask, "Then can I pursue—"

Billy's words were cut off by a cold, hard voice. "No, you can't."

Diana's other hand was grabbed tightly, making her cry out in pain. "Charles, let go of me! It hurts!"

Charles glared at Diana, furious. She'd been out of his sight for less than half an hour, and here she was, chatting warmly with Billy in a secluded corner. And she said she wasn't seducing men. He saw them holding hands. If he'd been a little later, who knows what might've happened.

Diana had no clue about the dirty thoughts in Charles' mind. She struggled to break free but couldn't.

Billy stepped forward and grabbed Charles' arm. "What are you doing? Let go of her!"

Charles didn't expect Billy to touch him. His eyes turned cold. "You've got some nerve, touching my date."

Billy shot back, "Who are you? This is my place. I won't let you bully Diana. Let her go!"

Billy and Diana both pulled, finally freeing her left hand from Charles' grip. Now her left hand was hurt, and her right hand was almost injured too. Being around Charles was never a good thing.

Seeing Billy step in to protect Diana, Charles' anger flared up. He sneered, "You two seem pretty cozy, huh? Diana! How long did it take you to find another guy after leaving me? You slut, always jumping from one man to another!"

Diana couldn't hold back anymore. She stepped out from behind Billy and faced Charles head-on. "Charles, you know we're done, right? Since we broke up, let's just move on. Why do you care who I'm with?"

Charles' face darkened, veins bulging in anger. But Billy wasn't intimidated. He turned to Diana and asked, "Diana, who is this guy?"

Diana didn't hide it. It wasn't a secret anyway. She said coldly, "My ex-husband, Charles."

Billy was taken aback. 'Ex-husband? So Diana had been married before.'

But he quickly brightened up as he said, "Ex-husband? Well, that's a relief. But isn't this ex-husband a bit too controlling?"

"Who knows? Maybe it's his personal hobby," Diana replied.

Seeing them exchange words, Charles' anger hit the roof. 'Diana, how dare she!' In a fit of rage, Charles punched Billy in the stomach, making him double over in pain.

Diana screamed as Charles grabbed her and dragged her away. She tripped over her skirt several times but was yanked back up each time. They didn't stop until they reached the pond in the small garden. Charles threw her in, his tone harsh.

"Diana, since you don't know who I am, take a good look in the water."

The pond wasn't deep, and Diana's puffy skirt acted like a float, keeping her afloat. She tried to paddle to the shore, but Charles kept pushing her back. As her skirt got soaked, it became heavier, dragging her down.

"Help!" Diana raised her arm and shouted.

Charles watched coldly. "I guess you don't care about your life, Diana. Enjoy it."

At that moment, Diana felt something wrap around her foot. Fear surged through her. She reached out to Charles, "Save me, Charles! I was wrong!"

But before Charles could react, Billy jumped in. Despite the pain in his stomach, he lifted Diana out of the water. She had already swallowed several mouthfuls and clung to Billy like a lifeline, wrapping her arms around his neck, her pale face pressed against his.

Billy comforted her, "Relax, Diana. I've got you."

Charles' mood had slightly improved, but seeing Diana with Billy again reignited his fury. The hands clinging to Billy's neck made him want to break them.

Just then, the butler of Harmony Haven Estate arrived. The head of the Richardson Family had been looking for Billy but couldn't find him. The butler checked the surveillance and saw him in the garden. When they arrived, they found Billy in the pond, causing quite a scare. They quickly pulled him out, and of course, Diana too.

But Billy was hurriedly taken back to the house by the servants, leaving Diana and Charles behind. Diana collapsed on the ground, exhausted and gasping for air. She knew she was truly doomed this time.

The autumn night wind blew, making her shiver. "Charles, if you're gonna do it, just do it. Strangle me, throw me back in the water, whatever. I know I won't have a good ending today anyway."
