Chapter 48 Frank Accusations

Since Faye proactively offered her assistance, Diana was all smiles and quickly replied, "Thanks, Faye. Let's figure out when everyone's free. Just let me know, and I'll treat everyone."

After a bit more chit-chat, they hung up. Diana put her phone down, stretched out on the sofa, and let out a big sigh of relief. She was super grateful to Bianca. Luckily, Bianca was a good person, and this crew liked her, so they'd respect Diana too.

This meetup was a big deal for Diana. Rehiring wasn't the main thing; she needed to dig up the secrets this group had. For Nathan to keep bugging them even after they quit, they had to know something that made him nervous.

These secrets were Diana's ticket to taking Nathan down. Even though Nathan wasn't in the company anymore, Clara would boot Diana out the first chance she got and hand the company back to Nathan.

Diana had worked too hard to get the company back from Charles. Even if she had to give it away, Diana wouldn't let it go back to Nathan.

Finally, on the weekend, Faye called Diana, saying everyone who could make it was at a coffee shop on Enchanted Emerald Street. Diana rushed over. She scanned the place and spotted a table with four people—two guys and two girls. They looked a bit out of place compared to the trendy crowd. But Diana's sharp eyes quickly found Faye.

Faye looked like a gentle woman. She was a bit older but still carried herself with dignity.

Recognizing Faye, Diana walked over and said, "Hey, Faye. I'm Diana. Sorry I'm late."

With Diana's intro, the four at the table turned to her. One of the middle-aged guys, Henry Phillips, was bald and wore a leather jacket with a tiger head on it. He had a stern look that made him seem more like a gangster than an office worker.

Henry was the first to speak, "You're Bianca's daughter? You were just a kid when you came to the company, and now look at you. You look like your mom." His voice was deep and hearty. He even reached out to shake Diana's hand. The handshake was firm.

Henry went on, "I was the company's former accountant. Name's Henry Phillips."

Diana was surprised that such a tough-looking guy was an accountant. Just as Henry was about to say more, Faye cut in. She pulled Diana to sit down and gently introduced the others, "I'm Faye. You've met Henry. This lady in the purple dress is Saskia Fuller, also from accounting. And this is Douglas Campbell from marketing."

As Faye introduced them, Diana checked them out. Saskia looked so different from what Diana remembered that she almost didn't recognize her. The old Saskia had a round face, was chubby, and always smiling. Now, Saskia was super thin, with sunken eyes and cheeks, making her look tired. Her thin lips were pressed tight, and her pointed chin gave her a mean look.

Since Diana walked in, Saskia had a tense look, totally different from her old lively and happy self.

Douglas Campbell, on the other hand, had gold-rimmed glasses and a vibe that was more like a high school teacher than Henry's tough guy look. When Diana glanced at him, he even gave her a polite smile.

After the intros, Faye said, a bit apologetically, "I reached out to a lot of people, but many have moved on and didn't want to come."

Diana got it; it wasn't a big deal since rehiring wasn't the main goal. "No worries. I'm just happy to see everyone today. It brings back memories of visiting the company as a kid and seeing everyone working together."

Henry chuckled and scratched his head. "Yeah, back then, whenever Ms. Spencer went to a meeting, you'd be running around all anxious."

Everyone smiled, but then a voice cut through the cheerful vibe. "Ms. Spencer, did you call us here just to listen to this nonsense?" Saskia, sitting diagonally from Diana, had her arms crossed and spoke bluntly.

Faye looked embarrassed, patted Saskia's back, and explained to Diana, "I'm sorry, Saskia's been through a lot since she left the company. She's not in great health. She means no harm; otherwise, she wouldn't have come today."

But Saskia shrugged off Faye's hand and got even more aggressive, saying, "I'm not sick, Ms. Spencer. Why are you going to such lengths to find us old employees?"

Diana didn't get mad and calmly explained, "Here's the deal. I've officially taken over the company, but there are still many areas I'm not familiar with. My mom always said you were all good people, so I'm sincerely inviting you to join my team."

Saskia sneered, "Ms. Spencer, you only had eyes for men before. You didn't care about Bianca's hard work and got played by the Williams Family. If I remember right, the Spencer Group was almost bankrupt not long ago. What's the point of taking over this mess now?"

The others didn't expect Saskia to be so blunt and say whatever she wanted. But it was too late to stop her.

Seeing Diana not respond, Saskia continued, "You didn't take over the company back then and let others ruin it. Now that it's failing, you take over and expect us old employees to help you? It's ridiculous." After her rant, Saskia was a bit out of breath. She took a sip of water and calmed down.

Even though her tone was harsh, if you listened closely, it was all out of frustration. She blamed Diana for not stepping up earlier to protect the Spencer Family's business. Taking over when it was on the brink of bankruptcy was clearly part of Nathan's schemes. So Saskia was both anxious and angry, which led to her outburst.

Diana knew Saskia cared, so she didn't hold back and said to everyone, "Since you're all here for my sake, I'll be straight with you." Diana's voice was firm and confident, making everyone pay attention. "First of all, I've already divorced."

Diana's first statement left everyone shocked.
