Chapter 190 Diamond Tycoon
But since Charles decided to move up his schedule, the car and hotel that Dawn Innovations Group had set up were pretty much useless.
They would be picked up in half an hour.
Charles rubbed his temples and suddenly asked, "Did we get the invite to the auction?"
Nolan was caught off guard but quickly pulled out an auction list from his pocket.
"Yeah, we did. Here's the auction list. See if there's anything you like?"
Ever since Juniper passed away, Charles rarely went to auctions himself.
Surprisingly, because of Claire, Charles was willing to go.
Nolan thought about it but couldn't figure out what Charles was thinking. He decided to get the auction list to see what items Charles wanted to bid on so he could be ready.
Charles took the list with one hand, and the necklace called "Eternal" was set to be the final item the day after tomorrow.
He tapped his fingers lightly on the paper, making a faint sound. "This one, bid on it."
Nolan stretched his neck to look over. Even from just a photo, the necklace looked stunning.
But who was he going to give it to? Was he attending the auction with Claire for her?
Nolan wondered but nodded seriously, "Mr. Percy, do you need anything else?"
Charles closed the list and handed it back to him, "No, just this. Give the list to Claire."
Nolan had just taken it when a gentle female voice came from behind, "What do you need to give me?"
Claire, in a white professional outfit, stood at the door, looking gentle and soft.
"Ms. Murphy, Mr. Percy said this auction list is for you. You can check it out in advance to see if there's anything you want."
Following Nolan's words, the list ended up in Claire's hands.
She glanced through it briefly and then smiled with her eyes curved, "Does Mr. Percy have anything he wants to bid on?"
The auction wasn't the big deal; it was who she went with that mattered. She cared more about Charles's thoughts.
Nolan was about to answer but saw Charles frowning slightly, so he quickly changed his words, "We'll know when we get there."
"Alright, it's time to go." Claire wanted to say more, but Charles, who had been sitting on the sofa, stood up and cut her off.
Nolan glanced at his phone; Dawn Innovations Group's car had already arrived downstairs.
The three quickly got into the car and headed to the meeting place.
Because of their different statuses, Charles had his own car, while Claire had to ride with Nolan.
In the Percy Group, Nolan was more familiar with Abigail, so being suddenly placed with Claire in the same space was a bit awkward.
So he kept a stern face, going over all the info about Dawn Innovations Group to avoid any mistakes during the meeting.
"Mr. Smith, what do I need to do at today's meeting?" Claire clutched her clothes, looking a bit nervous.
She was called to this business trip at the last minute, and it was her first time attending such an important event with Charles, so she was understandably nervous.
Nolan cleared his throat. He usually treated Claire as a decoration and hadn't told her about Dawn Innovations Group's specifics.
Taking the opportunity, he explained, "Dawn Innovations Group started with raw stone mining. Now, 30% of the world's jewelry brands need diamonds supplied by Dawn Innovations Group. Today, we'll be meeting with their representative for the Rainbow Federation region, Mike."
Claire listened carefully and even took notes on her phone.
But Nolan paused after mentioning Mike and added, "This Mike guy is pretty mysterious. There's not much info on him, just that he is from the Rainbow Federation region."
Claire nodded and asked curiously, "So, does the Percy Group have any deals with Dawn Innovations Group?"
That question hit the nail on the head.
"Kind of. The Percy Group has the money and wants to create its own brand, while the Dawn Innovations Group wants to expand its market. It's a win-win. If everything goes well, today's meeting will be a big success." Nolan rarely smiled, but his tone was confident.
Every business partner who had met Charles was always impressed by his charisma and competence.
The Percy Group was thriving, standing taller than ever, which was Charles's confidence. As long as he was on board, no deal ever failed.
Claire secretly sighed in relief. No wonder they didn't fill her in; they were already confident.
She said, "That's good. I was worried I wouldn't be of any help and that Mr. Percy would be upset."
"He won't be." Nolan reassured her, "Mr. Percy might have a temper, but bringing you along means he recognizes your abilities."
Whether his words were true or not, Claire seemed much happier.
As they chatted, the car stopped.
Outside was the headquarters of Dawn Innovations Group, right in the heart of Celestria's capital.
A row of Celestria folks in black stood at the entrance, looking serious, waiting for Charles's arrival.
As the three got out of the car, a man who looked like a junior leader hurriedly greeted them.
"Mr. Percy, welcome to our Dawn Innovations Group headquarters. I'm Gilbert Erikson, the director of Dawn Innovations Group."
Charles nodded slightly and exchanged pleasantries with Gilbert.
After shaking hands, Gilbert led the three inside Dawn Innovations Group.
As a major raw stone company, Dawn Innovations Group had many diamond decorations inside, looking shiny and very eye-catching.
In the center of the first floor was a wishing pool-like decoration, with a pure gold angel statue above it. The angel's clothes were inlaid with diamonds, shining brightly under the light, as if a real angel had descended.
"So beautiful." Claire couldn't help but exclaim.
Gilbert, who was leading the way, chuckled and said proudly, "All the diamonds on that statue are real."
Claire blinked, trying to hide her shock. Even with her experience, the angel wasn't small, and it must have taken a lot of diamonds.
Hearing their conversation, Charles glanced over and also praised, "Indeed, very beautiful."
Hearing him speak, Gilbert became humble, "No matter what kind of gem, it needs to be designed, polished, and processed to shine. We at Dawn Innovations Group are just the transporters of gems. The real value is brought out by the artists."
As if to prove his point, they saw many more diamond art creations.
Including but not limited to, elevator button numbers inlaid with diamonds, diamond door handles, and even diamond-studded signs.
Seeing it once was stunning, but seeing it repeatedly felt strange.
Wealth wasn't supposed to be flaunted, but the entire decor of Dawn Innovations Group clearly conveyed the message: "I am a diamond tycoon."
Nolan's eyebrows twitched as he began to speculate what Mike would be like.
As he thought, a vivid image surfaced in his mind: a pot-bellied middle-aged man adorned with diamond rings on each finger.
"We're here. Mr. Bennett is inside."
