Chapter 458 Contract

One was betting their wealth, the other their freedom. It sounded like an equal exchange.

Diana was skeptical. She pursed her lips and tilted her head, asking, "Are you sure about this?"

Faced with immense wealth, she felt her freedom seemed somewhat inadequate in comparison.

After all, wealth was tangible, while freedom was subjective, depending on one's definition.

"Absolutely. I can have Nolan draft the share transfer agreement, but we're married now. You already have access to all my money," Charles said casually, as if transferring shares was as simple as ordering fast food.

If the shareholders knew Charles was offering all his shares just to appease Diana, they would probably faint from anger.

Diana didn't react much to his words. She wasn't short on money; as long as she had enough to spend, she was content.

Charles didn't like this about her. If she were greedy, he could at least tempt her a bit.

"Alright."

Diana agreed readily, not one to refuse a gift.

Then she asked, "When can I go out?"

Charles rolled up the poetry book he was holding and lightly tapped her on the head. "Tomorrow."

"You just said..."

Seeing him change his mind, Diana slapped the table, ready to get angry, but he grabbed her chin and turned her head.

Outside the window, it was pitch black.

She had slept too long in the afternoon, and the brightly lit room made her forget the time.

With this reminder, Diana suddenly felt hungry.

Her stomach growled at an inopportune moment, making her feel a bit embarrassed.

She turned her head, stood up quickly, and changed the subject, "Let's eat first."

Charles followed her, amused, but didn't tease her further.

This time, the room's door could be opened. It was Diana's first time stepping out of this door.

Moon Hill Villa was slightly larger than the Percy Mansion, and its interior design was more intricate and complex.

With its vintage design, the whole villa had a European castle feel.

Charles walked ahead, and the maids, noticing the two coming out, hurried over to guide them.

They weren't surprised that Diana could leave the room, just nodded respectfully like automated robots.

They walked to the dining room, where the lighting was dim, with only two bright lamps on the table.

The round table was set with exquisite food and roses.

Diana's eyebrows twitched, recalling unpleasant memories.

The maids pulled out chairs for them. As they sat down, Diana eyed the food warily.

She was indeed hungry but felt something might be wrong with the delicious dishes.

Charles didn't notice her change in expression. He calmly picked up his knife and fork, slowly cutting the steak in front of him.

After cutting it into manageable pieces, he swapped it with Diana's plate.

Diana held her knife and fork, but it looked more like she was preparing to hunt rather than eat.

Seeing her not move for a while, Charles frowned and asked, "Not to your taste?"

Diana's expression was serious. She bluntly said, "You eat first. I'm afraid someone might have added something they shouldn't have."

Charles chuckled, hearing her words.

He picked up a piece of meat from her plate, ate it, and swallowed before speaking, "Now? Don't suspect me so easily."

It wasn't without reason; he had a history.

Diana pouted but didn't say anything. She started eating in small bites.

She usually ate much faster, but today she matched Charles' pace, slowly savoring the meal.

Despite her constant suspicion that Charles might have drugged the food, making her tense, the meal tasted quite good.

After they finished eating, Diana suggested exploring the villa. Charles didn't refuse, letting her wander while he returned to the room to work.

He took out his laptop, just like at the Percy Mansion, and started handling company affairs.

Nolan had been overseeing the company these past few days, likely on the verge of collapse.

Charles guessed correctly. As soon as he replied to Nolan's message, Nolan sent a pile of documents, including ones needing Charles' signature and work reports.

The company had no major issues recently. Charles skimmed through a few and replied to Nolan.

Charles: [Draft the contract.]

Nolan: [Okay, what contract? I'll notify the legal department.]

Charles: [Share transfer. You handle it.]

This time, Nolan didn't reply immediately. On the other end, he sat up in bed, his voice changing pitch.

"Share transfer!"

"What shares? To whom?"

If it were just a simple share transfer contract, Nolan wouldn't react so strongly.

But Charles specifically asked him to handle it, clearly not wanting the legal department to know.

Nolan had a vague suspicion but didn't dare voice it. He suppressed his shock and replied.

Nolan: [Okay, Mr. Percy. Please send me the details. I'll have it ready by tomorrow.]

Charles: [Alright.]

Charles needed to clarify the agreement with Diana and send it to Nolan, so he didn't rush to reply. Their conversation ended there.

Suddenly, the door opened, and Diana stood at the entrance, looking refreshed.

She had indeed gone for a walk, not planning to escape, so she wasn't tense.

The garden here connected to the back mountain, prettier than the Percy Mansion. The air was better, and Diana even saw fireflies.

If she didn't have to go out tomorrow, she would have continued exploring.

Returning to the room, she looked up and met Charles' gaze. "Why are you here?"

Diana asked, puzzled. The maid behind her sensibly closed the door.

"Of course I'm here. We're married."

Diana remembered. So, he wanted to sign the agreement for this reason!

He was so cunning!

"You said you wouldn't do anything to upset me. Are you going back on your word?"

Diana took a step back, leaning against the door, looking wary.

Charles turned back to his keyboard, "Not going back on my word. Tonight, I prefer chatting under the covers. You go to sleep; I have work to finish."

He really wasn't in the mood for that now.

Besides, things should progress gradually. If he pushed Diana too hard, future negotiations would be impossible.

His serious demeanor made it seem like Diana was forcing him. She gritted her teeth, shaking off the strange feeling.

She turned and went into the bathroom. If he dared to make a move, she'd break his manhood.

Diana took a shower with the determination of going to battle, then put on long-sleeved pajamas and pants, clearly defensive.

She quickly got into bed, watching Charles work with a wary eye.

His well-defined fingers flew over the keyboard, seemingly engrossed in his work.

She had slept too much in the afternoon and wasn't very tired, but watching him work for a while became boring.

Just as she was about to turn away, he suddenly spoke, "Come here."
