Chapter 132 Just Here?
Nolan took the document on Charles's behalf, while Diana carefully placed her own copy under her pillow, looking very cautious.
"Now that it's signed, hurry up and eat," Charles said, frowning at Diana's antics.
Diana blinked innocently. "Can I wait until Evelyn arrives to eat?"
Charles didn't waste a second. He grabbed his own agreement and acted like he was about to tear it up.
Panicking, Diana reached out and blurted, "I'll eat right now. It's cold, I can't eat it like this. I just meant we should wait for Evelyn to heat it up for me."
Charles was the kind of guy who'd follow through on his threats.
Diana didn't dare push him any further and immediately picked up a spoon to start eating.
Getting a new batch of food would take too long, so Diana thought it best to make do with this meal.
"Wait," Charles said, frowning at the cold food in front of him. "Go, heat these up."
Nolan, standing by, was stunned. He looked around the entire ward and saw no fourth person. Clearly, Charles was directing him.
'What? Asking me, the all-capable assistant, to heat up food?' Nolan silently screamed in his head. He didn't even know where the microwave was.
Despite his thoughts, Nolan's professional demeanor kicked in. He picked up the food without expression, looking very reliable as he prepared to leave the ward.
"Nolan, there's a microwave over there, no need to go out," Diana kindly reminded him, seeing him stuck at the door.
Nolan lowered his head, his expression unreadable, and moved back. "Okay."
But Nolan's red ears gave away his inner panic.
Diana watched Nolan's actions and suddenly burst into laughter.
She found Nolan quite amusing, always acting so serious. Who knew how much he complained in his heart?
Charles followed her gaze to Nolan and asked directly, "What's so funny?"
Diana, still smiling, replied, "I just find Nolan very interesting."
Charles raised an eyebrow, not getting Diana's sense of humor.
But on closer inspection, Nolan wasn't bad-looking at all—broad shoulders, narrow waist, tall build. His face wasn't particularly delicate, but definitely handsome.
Charles pursed his lips, suddenly finding Diana's smile particularly annoying.
He reached out and turned her face back, his tone threatening. "Stop staring at my people."
Diana was stunned by Charles' sudden action, completely unresponsive.
When she understood his words, she found it even more inexplicable.
She thought, 'Are you nuts? I can't even look? Fine, Nolan is your guy. I won't look.'
Just then, Nolan had finished heating the food and brought it over.
Seeing him approach, Diana immediately closed her eyes, indicating she wouldn't look. "Just put it here."
Nolan found it strange, but Charles also signaled him with his eyes to put the food down.
After Nolan set down the food, Diana began to fumble, seemingly looking for utensils carefully.
Nolan thought, 'Damn it, why is Diana suddenly pretending to be blind?'
Suppressing his complaints, Nolan picked up the utensil box and handed it to Diana.
Diana didn't know who handed it to her, but she still smiled politely and said, "Thank you."
Diana thought, 'Hurry up and leave, do I really have to pretend to eat like a blind person?'
Diana's movements in opening the utensil box were very slow, her slightly twitching mouth showing she was almost at her limit.
Charles gave Nolan a silent pat on the shoulder, and the two of them headed towards the door together.
As soon as the door clicked shut, Diana opened one eye. After confirming they had left, she let out a deep breath.
The food in front of her wasn't as good as Evelyn's cooking, but she was hungry enough to crave it.
Diana picked up the soup first, took a sip to ease her empty stomach, and then started on the rest of the food.
Outside the ward, Brenda saw Charles and Nolan come out and immediately approached, pointing towards the ward. "Is Ms. Spencer eating?"
Charles nodded slightly. "Don't let her leave until she's better. Dr. Ramos, you're fully responsible for her care."
Brenda nodded. Her specialty was health care, and with the Percy Group's hospital having advanced equipment and professional rescue teams, it wasn't a difficult task for her.
"By the way, install a monitor in her ward to prevent any accidents," Charles added.
Diana was a cunning person, and she might try to run away if not watched closely. Installing a monitor would allow him to keep an eye on her at all times.
Brenda's expression changed slightly, but she was experienced. She tactfully said, "Installing one in the bed area is fine, but we should give the pregnant woman some privacy."
The implication was that there was no need to install one in the restroom.
Charles agreed with a nod.
He looked at the time and asked Nolan, "Isn't there a meeting that was postponed today?"
"Yes, the shareholders' meeting," Nolan quickly answered. He had a good memory.
Charles was a dedicated worker, both talented and hardworking. He almost always went to the company unless there was an emergency.
Recently, because of Diana, he had postponed many meetings.
Today's shareholders' meeting was actually the least important to Charles. It was more of a family meeting with the family members arguing.
They always wanted Charles to be lenient and leave them some benefits, or subtly suggested bringing Zachary back. It didn't matter if such meetings were postponed.
But the next second, Charles uncharacteristically said, "The meeting will proceed as scheduled. We're going to the company now."
Nolan was surprised but quickly responded, "Yes."
After they left, Brenda returned to the ward.
Seeing Diana eating obediently, she felt relieved. "Ms. Spencer, how's the taste? Is there anything else you want to eat? I can have them prepare it."
Diana swallowed her food and waved her hand. "No need. When will my maid arrive?"
Brenda was stunned. She hadn't heard Charles mention this. But since Diana brought it up, someone must be coming today.
So Brenda raised her eyebrows and smiled. "She should be here soon, I think."
Hearing this, Diana felt more at ease and continued eating.
Seeing Brenda still standing there, Diana looked up and asked, "Is there anything else?"
Remembering Charles' instructions, Brenda thought it was best to give Diana a heads-up. But monitoring was something Brenda couldn't say directly.
Diana noticed her hesitation. "Just say it, I can accept it."
"Mr. Percy said he wants to monitor your condition at all times, so he wants to install a monitor in the ward," Brenda tried to make the reason sound reasonable.
Diana's expression remained calm. "Only here?"
