Chapter 120 Back to the Manor
For Charles, keeping the kid was definitely more beneficial than not.
Raising a kid? No big deal, the Percy family had more than enough resources to handle it.
Plus, a child with genes from both Charles and Diana was bound to be pretty amazing.
The Percys had always been eyeing Charles' position, and having this kid would actually make things easier.
But Eugene, after a moment of silence, pointed out the real issue. "You know what kind of person Diana was before. Are you sure she won't use the kid to threaten you? Or even blackmail you into remarrying her? Charles, don't let her manipulate you."
"Of course I know. Do I need you to tell me that?" Charles shot him a glance.
When Diana hadn't divorced, she had used every trick in the book to stay by Charles' side.
Now with a kid, she was even more fearless. Just two hours ago, she had tried to threaten him with suicide.
This unexpected kid had tied him and Diana together again.
Charles rubbed his fingers and said in a deep voice, "I'll sign an agreement with her; the kid must be born."
Eugene crossed his legs and leaned back on the couch.
No doubt, the agreement would definitely protect Charles' interests.
That was how it was in wealthy circles; there were plenty of cases where the mother was discarded, and only the kid was kept.
"Then let me congratulate you on becoming a father. How about letting the kid recognize me as the godfather?"
Charles picked up his coat and stood up to leave. Without turning his head, he replied, "You're not qualified."
Meanwhile, Nolan escorted Diana home, and the two remained silent the entire way.
It wasn't until they reached the Percy Mansion that Diana spoke, "Does Charles mean to lock me up?"
Nolan's lips tightened. It seemed that way for now.
But Charles hadn't specifically told him, for the sake of the pregnant woman's mental and physical health.
Nolan chose to answer tactfully, "Mr. Percy is doing this to protect your safety. The specifics will need to be discussed between you two."
Hearing Nolan's words, Diana sneered and, unafraid of him reporting back, directly mocked, "Safety? I'd be safe if he stayed away from me."
With that, Diana got out of the car herself and slammed the door shut, clearly very angry.
When the servants saw Diana getting out of the back seat, they were all shocked.
The two closest to Diana even went straight to grab her, ready to throw her out. "Who let you in? Mr. Percy said you are not allowed in!"
Nolan had just gotten out of the car when he saw Diana being dragged out by the two servants. She didn't resist at all, and the expression on her face seemed to say, "See, this is the protection you talked about."
Nolan's scalp tightened, and he hurriedly stepped forward to stop them. "Wait, Ms. Spencer was invited back by Mr. Percy. You all..."
The commotion downstairs caught Jacob's attention, and he came over to see what was happening. "What's going on? Ms. Spencer, why are you here? And Nolan?"
Nolan stepped forward and whispered in Jacob's ear, "Ms. Spencer is pregnant. Mr. Percy asked me to bring her back here to rest. Take good care of her."
With just a few words, Jacob's small eyes widened. He quickly scolded the two servants holding Diana, "What are you doing? Let go of her immediately!"
He quickly stepped forward to help Diana up, his eyes lingering on her belly for a moment before asking with concern, "Are you alright, Ms. Spencer?"
It was no secret in the mansion that Charles disliked Diana. Now that she was brought back by Nolan, and even Jacob was showing her concern, the servants were all very shocked.
"From today on, Ms. Spencer will be staying here. You all need to treat her with respect. This is Mr. Percy's order!" Jacob's tone became serious as he supported Diana.
"No need, I won't be staying here long. When Mr. Percy returns, I'll leave on my own." Diana pulled her arm back, her tone not very pleasant.
But Jacob didn't get angry. Instead, he smiled and arranged for a servant to take Diana to her room.
Diana didn't resist, knowing these people were just following Charles' orders.
Once she left, Jacob pulled Nolan aside to a secluded spot to ask for more details, "What's going on?"
Nolan understood his surprise, but only Charles knew the full situation, so he gave a brief explanation. "Diana is pregnant with Mr. Percy's kid, and there's a risk of miscarriage. Have the family doctor keep a close eye on her."
Jacob broke out in a cold sweat, forgetting to ask how Diana suddenly got pregnant.
He couldn't help but think, 'Given the unstable pregnancy, why not go to a hospital for proper care? A family doctor can't cover everything; this is like bringing a ticking time bomb home.'
"Shouldn't we get a specialist?" he hesitated.
Nolan patted his shoulder meaningfully. "Everything will be decided when Mr. Percy returns. You just need to take good care of her in the meantime. If there's nothing else, I'll be off. I have work to do at the company."
With that, Nolan turned and left.
Jacob stood there, letting out a deep sigh.
Meanwhile, the servant had taken Diana to a guest room and quickly left.
Diana sat on the bed, which was very soft.
This guest room was the closest to Charles' master bedroom. When the old Diana used to live in the cramped storage room, she had thought that even if she couldn't sleep with Charles, staying in this guest room close to him would be nice.
But things were different now. Diana irritably scratched her head and lay down on the bed, wondering how Charles found out she was pregnant.
Diana recalled the events of the day and quickly identified the key figures.
Clara and Mia had initially asked if Diana was pregnant and later took her to the operating room.
Now that she thought about it, it wasn't just for a check-up; they were likely planning to abort her kid.
However, Diana couldn't tell why they notified Charles if they wanted her to abort.
'This kid is mine. You don't get to decide its fate.' Charles' words echoed in her mind.
Diana suddenly realized Clara and Mia's intentions and couldn't help but sit up, muttering to herself, "To make me abort Charles' kid and anger him? Well, they've calculated well!"
Diana laughed in anger, punching the pillow in frustration.
Now she was back at The Percy Mansion, like a pregnant cat in a pet store.
Because the kid had value, she was being kept and confined.
"Disgusting!" Diana lay back down, feeling very unsafe here.
Her unborn kid seemed to sense her distress, and her lower abdomen began to ache.
Outside, Jacob brought the family doctor over. Since Diana was pregnant, he had specifically called a female doctor for convenience. "Ms. Spencer, are you in there? May I come in?"
Diana, feeling very annoyed now, shouted back, "I don't want to see anyone!"
But Diana's trembling, suppressed voice made the doctor, Brenda Ramos, sense that something was wrong.
Ignoring Diana's words, she twisted the doorknob and barged right in.
The sight that greeted them was shocking.
