Chapter 350 Call the Parents

Benjamin's last hope had shattered, and he began to cry even louder.

Luckily, the house had good soundproofing, so Charles, who was on the second floor, remained undisturbed.

However, Jacob and the other servants weren't so fortunate, as they were bombarded by the crying and had to take turns trying to comfort him.

"Hey, don't cry. Look, here's a doll. You like dolls, right?"

Benjamin, in a fit of temper, threw the doll aside and continued to cry uncontrollably.

Jacob rubbed his forehead and instructed a nearby servant, "Go make some snacks, cookies, cakes, anything kids like. Bring it all here!"

The servant nodded repeatedly and hurried off to the kitchen.

Snowy, who had just finished eating and was about to go for a walk, heard the crying and curiously approached.

Although Snowy didn't understand why Benjamin smelled so sad, the dog decided to stay and comfort him, licking away his tears.

They tasted salty.

But Benjamin kept crying. After all, he was just a kid, and the situation had scared him.

"I want to go home. I want my mommy."

Snowy stared at him with big eyes and then nestled its head into Benjamin's hand, lying down beside him to keep him company.

Jacob also sat next to Benjamin, gently patting his back, worried he might cry himself into a faint.

"Mr. Percy hasn't slept well since his wife passed away. He can only sleep a bit better in that room. He'll wake up soon. Don't cry, or your throat and eyes will hurt."

Benjamin, slightly comforted by Jacob's words and the furry sensation in his hand, calmed down a bit.

With red eyes, he turned and asked, "Really?"

"Yes, really! I've got some delicious snacks ready for you. The servants are bringing them now. Don't cry."

Seeing that Benjamin was willing to listen, Jacob sighed in relief and continued to soothe him.

Benjamin rubbed his eyes and slowly began to calm down.

Reflecting on the situation, he felt embarrassed for crying so much as a boy. He petted Snowy to ease the awkwardness.

A servant brought out a freshly made dessert from the kitchen.

Charles didn't like sweets, so the house usually didn't have any. This one was made on the spot and was still warm.

Jacob placed the plate in front of Benjamin and handed him a fork, smiling, "Try it. It's really good."

The sweet aroma tempted Benjamin. He sniffled and said softly, "Thank you."

He took the plate and began to eat slowly. The sweet taste melted in his mouth, lifting his spirits.

After he finished eating, Jacob took him to wash his face and comforted him further.

All the fuss had tired Benjamin out. He leaned back on the couch, looking up at the stairs, muttering, "How can he sleep so deeply? Not even the end of the world would wake him."

Gradually, Benjamin's eyelids grew heavy. He tried to shake off the drowsiness but couldn't help yawning.

Jacob signaled the servants to move quietly to avoid disturbing him.

Ten minutes later, Benjamin finally succumbed to sleep, clutching a doll.

Jacob shook his head with a smile and covered him with a blanket. After all, he was just a child, exhausted from crying.

It wasn't until evening that Charles finally woke up.

He had slept soundly, without even dreaming. Rubbing his head, he got up and went downstairs.

The house was usually quiet, but today it was eerily silent, with no footsteps or breathing sounds.

For a moment, Charles wondered if he was the only one in the villa.

But he quickly found the reason.

Benjamin, who looked a lot like him, was sleeping on the couch, with a big dog lying beside him. The scene looked pretty cozy.

Charles' eyes darkened. He still didn't know who Benjamin was, but the boy's face made him want to get closer.

Jacob saw him coming downstairs and smiled, then pointed to the sleeping Benjamin, gesturing for silence.

He quickly walked to the staircase and whispered, "The boy waited for you a long time while you were sleeping and eventually fell asleep himself."

Charles nodded slightly, feeling a soft spot in his heart, and moved more quietly.

But the next second, Snowy saw him coming down and barked excitedly.

The loud bark startled Benjamin awake. He rubbed his sleepy eyes and sat up, confused.

"What's going on?"

Charles glared at the dog and then said coldly, "Awake?"

Hearing his voice, Benjamin snapped to attention. He raised his voice, "I want to go home! This is kidnapping!"

Charles raised an eyebrow and mimicked Benjamin's earlier tone, "Sure, call your parents to come pick you up. And they must bring proof that they're your parents. Otherwise, I can't let you go with strangers."

Benjamin's eyes widened, and he pointed a chubby finger at Charles, "That's just sophistry! Just let these people stop blocking me, and I can go home myself."

Charles stepped forward, grabbed his hand, and pressed it down, "Kid, didn't your parents teach you that pointing at people is rude? And it's getting dark. I can't let you go alone. Your parents must come to get you."

He wanted to see who the boy's parents were, given their striking resemblance.

Jacob, hearing this, looked a bit flustered and was about to intervene when Benjamin shouted, "I don't have a dad! And my mommy said there's no need to be polite to bad people!"

Jacob quickly explained to Charles, "The boy's father is a jerk who bullied his mother and abandoned them."

Charles frowned, realizing his earlier words had hurt the boy. He softened his tone, "Regardless, your family must come to pick you up today."

Benjamin bit his lip and glared at him, the tension rising.

What now? He had no other relatives in the Rainbow Federation.

Diana would be back soon, and if he missed today's flight, she'd definitely find out he had snuck out.

Calling the police might not help, as they probably wouldn't be able to deal with Charles.

Or they might insist on contacting his parents, which in any case, Benjamin wouldn't be happy with.

The only option was to get Dean's help.

After a moment, he said, "Give me a phone. I'll call my family."

Charles tilted his head slightly, and Jacob immediately understood, handing over his phone.

Benjamin wanted to step aside to make the call, but Charles stopped him, "Make the call here."

Under his intimidating gaze, Benjamin gritted his teeth and dialed the number.

As soon as Dean's voice came through, Benjamin couldn't hold back, "Uncle!"

Dean, puzzled by the unfamiliar international number, turned pale when he heard Benjamin's tearful voice.

Benjamin's watch had been modified for communication, so he usually contacted them using it. Why was he calling from an unfamiliar number now?

Had he been kidnapped? Was he lost?

A thousand scenarios flashed through Dean's mind. He asked, "Benjamin, where are you? Are you in trouble? Tell me your location."

Benjamin, holding back tears, glanced at Charles and said, "Uncle, I'm at a Mr. Percy's house. He won't let me go unless my family comes to get me."

Dean's heart sank. 'Mr. Percy? That's Charles!'
