Chapter 272 He Actually Agreed

Charles felt a surge of anger rise within him, but he had nowhere to vent it.

Suddenly, he felt a gentle tug on his arm. Diana, looking uneasy and avoiding his gaze, spoke in a stiff tone.

"Sabrina didn't mean it. If you don't want me to go, I won't. Just don't be mad, okay?"

Although her attitude wasn't exactly sweet, Charles could hear a hint of appeasement in her words.

He had been teetering on the edge of an outburst, but her attempt to pacify him, however awkward, managed to soften the sharp edges of his anger.

Under the gaze of the three, he slowly spoke, "Where are you guys planning to go?"

Sabrina thought she had misheard and looked up in surprise, only to be quickly pushed back down by Noah.

"Somewhere dangerous is off-limits, and nothing too far," Charles continued.

Diana's eyes widened, and she tightened her grip on his arm. "You agree?"

Maybe it was the way her eyes lit up that Charles found particularly appealing. He subtly curled his lips and responded with a reserved nod.

Seeing this, Sabrina quickly explained, "It's not far! Just near Dreamscape University. It's a food festival organized by our school. Oh, and I heard from my grandpa that you used to attend Dreamscape University, Mr. Percy. So, you must be familiar with it, right? You should come with us!"

"What?" Diana was now the one surprised. How had what was supposed to be a date between her and Sabrina suddenly turned into a group outing?

But Sabrina's suggestion aligned perfectly with Charles' thoughts. He didn't want Diana going out alone, especially after what happened last time. Who knew what could happen this time?

But if they went together, it would be different.

Eugene had mentioned that spending more time together could strengthen their relationship.

With that in mind, Charles quickly categorized this "food festival" as a "date" and nodded, "Alright, let's go together."

Seeing his expression soften, Sabrina breathed a sigh of relief and praised her own quick thinking. "That's great! It's the day after tomorrow..."

Before she could finish, Diana interrupted, "Do you even have time? The company is so busy."

Seriously? Strolling through a food festival with Charles? That was the last thing she could have imagined.

Charles remained calm and said, "Of course I have time. I can go to my company whenever I want. Besides, Nolan is there."

At that moment, Nolan, who was enjoying his vacation at home, suddenly sneezed. He rubbed his nose and muttered, "Why do I have a bad feeling?"

Seeing Diana about to speak, Sabrina quickly chimed in, "Yes, Diana, let's all go together. It'll be fun!"

This was a perfect opportunity to get closer, and she couldn't miss it.

Even Noah, standing nearby, could see Sabrina's intention and smiled, "Then I'll leave Sabrina in your care. I have to go on a business trip that day, so I can't join you. What a shame."

With that, the decision was made, and Diana had no choice but to agree. "Alright."

"Diana, you're the best," Sabrina said, trying to hug her, but Noah pulled her back by the collar.

"Well then, we won't disturb you two any longer. Goodbye." Noah said, steering Sabrina towards the door.

"Goodbye, Mr. Percy. Goodbye, Diana," Sabrina said obediently, feeling like there was still more to talk about, but knowing they would see each other soon.

Once they were gone, Charles finally spoke, "Do you really want to go out?"

Diana blinked, her long eyelashes fluttering like butterfly wings, and replied, "She invited me. Are you really going with me?"

Charles tilted his head slightly, mimicking her tone, "Yes, she invited me too."

Diana felt an urge to strangle him. She cursed inwardly, 'If it weren't for you almost losing your temper, who would want to invite you?'

Seeing her remain silent, Charles continued, "If you behave, there will be plenty of opportunities to go out in the future."

As long as she wanted, the Percy Group's private jet would be at her disposal.

Diana didn't respond, just pulled her hand back, adjusted her coat, and said, "It's cold. I'm going back."

With that, she walked away without waiting for his reaction.

As she replayed his words in her mind, Diana couldn't help but curl her lips in a mocking smile. 'Ridiculous! I have to listen to him to go out and have fun? Who does he think he is? Why would I care about him anyway?'

If she weren't forced to stay by his side, with her own resources, she could travel the world.

Indeed, she and Charles could never get along. Staying in the same space for too long would only lead to trouble.

Although Charles had readily agreed to go to the food festival with them, the Percy Group's matters still needed his attention. Leaving everything to Nolan wasn't a solution.

So, his weekend was cut short. He went to the Percy Group the next day and didn't return that evening.

Diana enjoyed the peace, mocking his stubbornness while chatting with Evelyn.

When she went downstairs to get something, Robert called.

His tone was serious, and he got straight to the point, "Diana, there's a problem with Nathan's case. Clara found a very skilled lawyer. The first trial almost overturned Nathan's charges. If this continues, he won't stay in prison for long."

Diana frowned, her smile fading, "Do you know which law firm the lawyer is from? Such a skilled lawyer must be expensive. Where did Clara get the money?"

Robert shook his head, "The first trial just ended today. I looked into it but found nothing. He's not from any law firm in Evergreen City."

He had asked everyone he knew but couldn't find out who the lawyer was.

Someone so good at handling financial cases should be well-known, right?

"I'll figure it out. Don't worry. If the first trial doesn't work, we'll go to the second. Robert, after what Nathan did to my mom, I don't want him to have an easy life."

"Alright, I'll do my best."

After hanging up, Diana fell into deep thought.

If Clara had such a trump card, why would she have been so desperate to beg her before?

It meant someone had recently started helping her.

But the Williams family's reputation was in shambles. What benefit could there be in helping them?

Diana couldn't figure it out and felt a bit regretful for not dealing with it sooner.

But her regret didn't last long. She quickly returned to normal.

Back in her room, she smiled as if nothing had happened and told Evelyn, "I'm a bit tired."

Evelyn put down her book and nodded, "Alright, Ms. Spencer. I'll leave now. Goodnight."

"Goodnight." After seeing Evelyn out, Diana locked the door and drew the curtains. She quickly logged onto the Dark Web.

A: [Find out who's behind this lawyer.]

Diana sent all the information Robert had given her to Dean. He was the best person to investigate.

However, Dean was busy with something and didn't reply immediately.

Diana was anxious but had no choice.

If the second trial had the same result, she would take matters into her own hands to make Nathan pay.
