Chapter 474 Guessing Half Correct

Almost five years old, the Percy family's child...

With the few clues she had, a wild thought suddenly crossed Isolde's mind.

She looked down at Benjamin, her gaze piercing through him as if seeing someone else.

Benjamin's mouth and nose resembled Charles, but his eyes reminded her of a regret she couldn't speak of, buried deep in her heart.

Isolde's heart skipped a beat, and her fingers began to tremble uncontrollably.

Noticing her discomfort, Benjamin quickly tugged on Frank's sleeve.

"Mr. Bailey, this lady doesn't seem to be feeling well."

"Ms. Porter, are you okay?" Frank asked, frowning.

"I'm fine!"

Isolde lowered her head, covering her mouth, and took a deep breath. She steadied herself and shook her head.

"I'm fine, Mr. Bailey. I just remembered there's something urgent at the office I need to handle. I have to go."

Though he noticed her change in demeanor, Frank found it inexplicable and didn't stop her.

After she left, Benjamin scratched his head.

"Mr. Bailey, what are we gonna do now?"

Frank lifted his chin, his gaze falling on Eugene, who was scolding his subordinates not far away.

"Eugene's been slacking off at work lately. I need to have a serious talk with him."

"Okay." Benjamin's tone stretched out, a hint of schadenfreude in his voice.

Meanwhile, Eugene had just finished reprimanding a group of technicians and turned his attention to an intern.

Eugene remembered this intern. When Eugene wanted to establish this department, it was the intern's father who voted in favor, on the condition that his son be placed in the department.

Eugene had agreed to let the intern join, but didn't take him seriously.

Unexpectedly, today, this overlooked intern had saved the entire department.

Eugene's lips curved into a gentle smile as he placed a hand on the intern's shoulder.

"You're doing great. After this month, you'll be officially on board. Keep it up!"

"Really?"

The intern's eyes widened with excitement. This meant he was getting an early promotion, and it was personally announced by the vice president. Even if the lower-level managers disagreed, it wouldn't matter.

"Of course, but..."

Eugene nodded affirmatively, then suddenly changed the subject.

"Where did you learn to code like this?"

The intern's smile faded, and he hesitated.

"I figured it out on my own."

Eugene's expression remained unchanged, but his eyes scrutinized the intern.

If he wasn't mistaken, this code was strikingly similar to the one used to steal three billion dollars from Charles.

Eugene, usually a playboy, had a keen interest in this field. Otherwise, he wouldn't have gone to such lengths to establish this department within the Bailey Group.

He was relieved that nothing went wrong today, but this intern seemed more complex than he had imagined.

Eugene glanced at the intern's name badge.

"Your name is Justin Burgess? I remember you just graduated, right? With such skills, which university did you attend?"

"I graduated from the Institute of Technology in Horizonia. My professor was Terry Valdez. He's quite renowned internationally."

Justin hadn't expected the question. To prove himself, he eagerly mentioned his school and professor, trying to appear as a high-caliber talent.

Eugene nodded with a half-smile.

"Horizonia, huh? It's indeed a good place."

If he remembered correctly, Zachary had gotten into trouble in Horizonia.

Justin didn't seem like someone who could steal three billion dollars, but the person behind him was definitely not simple.

Could that three billion really be connected to Zachary? But Zachary was dead. Should he continue investigating?

Eugene didn't realize his guess was half correct.

Seeing Justin's expectant eyes, he snapped back to reality, patted his shoulder, and offered more encouragement.

"The company needs talents like you. Keep up the good work."

Justin blushed at the praise, feeling like he was back in school, where teachers and classmates also praised him.

"Thank you, Mr. Bailey!"

Behind him, Frank was growing impatient. He cleared his throat and said sternly,

"Eugene, are you done yet?"

Eugene's body jolted, almost forgetting his older brother was still there.

He waved to the others, deciding to discuss this matter in the next meeting.

"Frank, I'm coming."

Seeing his playful grin, Frank felt a surge of anger.

With so many people around, it wasn't the right time to lose his temper. He glared at Eugene and said coldly,

"Come to my office."

Eugene's expression fell as he followed Frank, trying to explain.

"Frank, today was really an accident. We're usually very reliable. And everything was resolved in the end, wasn't it?"

Frank remained silent, so Eugene continued.

"Frank, I swear, I'll hold a meeting to straighten things out. Trust me, as long as the department continues, the Bailey Group will only get better. Times are changing; we can't just stick to old industries. The company needs fresh blood."

He rambled on, but Frank responded with silence.

Benjamin followed them, looking around, until they reached the office door.

Frank called the secretary to take Benjamin to the lounge.

In the lounge, Benjamin enjoyed snacks, juice, and a tablet, feeling quite content.

Meanwhile, Eugene faced his brother's wrath.

"I've told you countless times, a team needs management. I'm not against innovation, but you're not committed! Do you know I brought a business partner for a tour today? If it weren't for Ms. Porter's generosity, today's deal would have been ruined."

Frank sat in his chair, slamming the table as he began his tirade.

Eugene, now looking nonchalant, had lost the humble attitude he had earlier.

No matter how he apologized, his brother would still scold him, so he might as well let him vent.

"I understand, Frank. I'll make sure to discipline them properly. If the deal went through, it means Ms. Porter has faith in us. My decision wasn't wrong."

Frank knew scolding was futile and sneered.

"Let's not talk about the company. You're not getting any younger, yet you haven't settled down and had kids. Instead, you're babysitting someone else's child? Is that Charles's kid?"

"Frank, how did you know? Did you investigate?"

Eugene looked surprised.

"Who else would trust you with their child? Eugene, the company isn't a daycare. Bringing him here is one thing, but not watching him properly could ruin the Bailey Group."

Though he didn't know when Charles had a child, it wasn't unusual for wealthy families to have unexpected children.

Now that the Percy family hadn't announced the child's existence but entrusted him to Eugene, it meant the child was significant.

Eugene had essentially brought a ticking time bomb to the company.

"Since you're not focused on work, I'll give you a break to take care of the child."

Frank couldn't afford to offend Charles, so he compromised.

After all, it was his brother taking care of the child, not him.

Eugene immediately protested.

"Frank, don't make it sound like I'm a nanny. I'm only taking care of him temporarily. After that..."

He was about to mention Diana, but remembered it was a secret, so he changed his words.

"After that, there will be someone else to take care of him."
