Chapter 370 Treatment
Benjamin's face was a mix of emotions. They clearly weren't on the same page, but considering Charles got hurt protecting him...
He scooted closer to Charles and, under his watchful gaze, puckered his lips and gently blew on his wound.
Seeing Charles' puzzled expression, Benjamin explained, "It's a magic blow. If I blow on it like this, it won't hurt as much. My..."
"Your mommy taught you that?" Charles finished his sentence, feeling a warmth in his chest.
Benjamin paused, then nodded. He continued to blow on the wound a couple more times, his tone sincere, "Thanks for protecting me today."
Charles squinted slightly and said in a deep voice, "I told you, we're gonna make it. As long as you're with me, nothing's gonna happen to you."
Just as he finished speaking, the car came to a stop.
The black-suited bodyguard glanced at the two of them in the rearview mirror and reminded, "Mr. Percy, we've arrived."
The car stopped at the back of the Percy Group building. Nolan had already been notified and quickly came over to open the car door as soon as it stopped.
"Mr. Percy, the medical team will be here shortly. Let's head to the lounge for now."
Charles nodded slightly. As he got out of the car, he appeared as composed as ever, though his pale face betrayed his current condition.
"Just as you predicted, Elise showed up today. Mr. Bailey managed to stabilize the situation. Now we're just waiting for you to make your entrance," Nolan reported, his expression serious.
Today's events were extremely dangerous, but Charles believed that the greater the risk, the higher the reward. Sure enough, Elise had made a mistake.
The two adults walked ahead, while Benjamin, with his short legs, trailed behind.
Taking advantage of their inattention, he opened his watch and sent a message to Diana.
Benjamin: [Mommy, I'm at the venue. Where are you?]
He had just fallen a couple of steps behind when Charles, as if he had eyes on the back of his head, noticed his little action.
"Benjamin, keep up."
Benjamin was startled. This was the first time Charles had called him by his name.
Charles had noticed Jacob's change in how he addressed Benjamin but didn't know his last name. Calling him Benjamin felt too intimate, and he wasn't used to it.
But given the current situation, he didn't think too much about it and just called out.
"Okay," Benjamin responded, quickly turning off his watch and catching up with them.
The lounge was a bit of a distance from the venue, and it was very quiet here. Nolan had cleared the area in advance, so there was no one around.
"Mr. Percy, please rest here. I'll go check on things," Nolan said, settling Charles in before quickly heading out to see if the medical team had arrived.
Benjamin looked around anxiously. Why hadn't Diana replied yet?
"What's wrong?" Charles asked, noticing his anxiety.
Benjamin hesitated for a moment before finding an excuse, "I need to use the bathroom."
"Go ahead, there's a restroom over there," Charles said, nodding towards the direction behind Benjamin.
Benjamin jumped up from the sofa as if granted amnesty, "I'll be right back."
Once in the restroom, Benjamin locked the door and opened his watch again.
It showed that Diana had called two minutes ago, but he hadn't answered, so she had sent a message instead.
Diana: [Are you at the Percy Group? I'm on my way.]
Benjamin breathed a sigh of relief. Finally, he could see Diana.
But with Charles watching him so closely, how could he find a chance to leave?
He bit his lip and quickly updated Diana on the situation, assuring her he was safe.
Despite his bias against Charles, he had indeed protected him today. Hopefully, Diana wouldn't be too angry when she found out.
After sending the message, Benjamin flushed the toilet to make it seem like he had just finished.
He then pushed the door open and met Charles' gaze.
Charles' eyes followed his every move, a probing look in them.
Benjamin felt a sudden wave of nervousness, swallowed hard, and walked back towards the sofa.
Charles suddenly spoke, "Benjamin."
"Yeah?" Benjamin's heart raced, fearing Charles had discovered he had secretly contacted Diana. That couldn't be possible, right?
In Benjamin's tense silence, Charles slowly said, "Remember to wash your hands after using the bathroom."
Benjamin's emotions swung wildly, leaving him momentarily speechless.
He then turned around and obediently washed his hands.
After washing, he showed his wet hands to Charles, who nodded slightly before closing his eyes and saying nothing more.
The adrenaline was wearing off, and now his arm hurt so much that even breathing was painful.
They waited for about ten minutes before there was a knock on the door.
Before Charles could respond, Nolan, disregarding protocol, brought the medical team in.
The doctor, Milan, wasn't from the Rainbow Federation but was a friend of Nolan's.
Having him help ensured Charles' safety and kept his injury a secret. Charles' injury couldn't be made public.
Milan, wearing a mask, greeted Charles briefly before moving to remove his jacket.
The white shirt underneath was soaked in blood, looking quite gruesome.
Charles looked up at Nolan and said, "Take him out for a walk and keep an eye on him."
Nolan nodded respectfully and extended his hand to Benjamin, "Let's go for a walk."
Benjamin knew they were trying to protect him from the sight, so he didn't refuse.
Besides, going out might give him a chance to meet Diana and increase his chances of escaping and going home.
After the two had left, Milan spoke in somewhat broken Rainbow Federation language.
"Mr. Percy, you are very lucky; the bone is not damaged. But without proper equipment, I can't determine the exact situation. You need to go to the hospital."
"I will, but not now. Please take care of the wound, at least stop the bleeding."
Charles' expression was calm, but a layer of cold sweat had already formed on his forehead.
Hearing this, Milan didn't try to persuade him further. He opened the medical kit and began to treat the wound.
However, halfway through the process, he ran out of gauze.
As the wound was being tended to, the increased pain tormented Charles, causing veins to bulge on his forehead and the corners of his eyes to redden.
Milan was amazed that Charles could endure it without making a sound, even without anesthesia.
"Sorry, we're out of painkillers and gauze. Can I have my assistant bring some in?" Milan asked apologetically.
Charles agreed, and Milan stepped aside to send a message to his assistant.
Five minutes later, the door to the lounge opened, and a woman with a ponytail and a mask entered, carrying a bag. She handed it to Milan without a word.
"Thank you," Milan said softly.
Hearing this, Charles looked up at the "assistant."
With just one look, his breath caught sharply.
Even with only her eyes visible, he could overlay those eyes with the person in his heart.
Diana?
He suddenly stood up, causing Milan to tug on the bandage, reopening the wound and making it bleed profusely.
Milan exclaimed in surprise and quickly pushed Charles back into his seat, "Mr. Percy, don't move! Your wound is very serious."
Charles' breathing was heavy, his eyes fixed on the woman behind Milan.
He spoke, "Come here."
