Chapter 93 The Interview

Seeing Diana stay quiet, the young employee got even more pumped. "We need a leader who's all about the company. No matter what kind of person Ms. Williams is, the company was her dad's before. So she cares more about it, and that's why we're sticking with her. If it were anyone else, the company would've tanked by now."

Diana pressed her lips together, her face darkening. The older employee noticed something was off and was about to step in. But Diana cut him off, "Alright, I get it. You can go now."

Hearing her speak, the two didn't say more and turned to leave.

Diana gripped the water cup beside her tightly, her fingernails turning white. She thought, 'How dare he say the company was belong to the Williams Family? Have these people forgotten why it's called the Spencer Group?'

Diana had underestimated Clara's shamelessness; she dared to claim credit for everything. When Diana was drinking herself sick at the Percy Mansion, she didn't even know where Clara was playing. Since these two employees knew about it, it must have spread privately.

Diana frowned, feeling a bit stifled, but she quickly calmed down. Thinking of the leverage she had on Nathan and his 15% shares. Diana closed her eyes; it was not the best time to make a movement now.

With a knock on the door, Coralie's voice came from outside, "Ms. Spencer, someone is here for an interview today. Do you have time to meet them with me now?"

Diana replied, "Sure, take them to the conference room. I'll be right there."

Coralie turned the doorknob and peeked in, her expression a bit strange. "Ms. Spencer, is it a group interview? There are five people here today."

Diana knew she was puzzled but didn't say much, just nodded, "Yes, I'm sure. I'll be there soon."

Hearing her firm tone, Coralie didn't say more. In some big companies, interview questions could be quite peculiar. Maybe Diana had her own set of questions. Thinking this, Coralie closed the door and led the interviewees to the conference room.

One of the girls asked, "Are we interviewing here?"

Coralie nodded, "Yes, our boss will be here shortly."

In her office, Diana tidied her loose hair, grabbed a few sheets of paper, and headed to the conference room. As she passed through the office area, she could feel several intense gazes. Some were curious, others openly disdainful.

Among them, Axel gave Diana a sideways glance, making her feel the malice from afar. It seemed the two employees were right; they all thought Clara had saved the company.

Diana took a deep breath, suppressing her temper. Entering the conference room, five people sat in a row, seemingly chatting. But Coralie was absent.

Diana didn't mind, raised her hand, and greeted them. The five had different expressions upon seeing her. Only one short-haired, round-faced girl was particularly enthusiastic towards Diana. She excitedly patted the seat next to her, "Hi, sit next to me!"

Diana didn't expect her to say that but followed her lead and sat beside her. The round-faced girl, very friendly, extended a hand. "Hi, I'm Lily Martin. Are you here for the interview too?"

Diana was stunned, realizing they mistook her for a fellow interviewee. Besides Lily Martin, there were two other girls, one wearing glasses and looking very quiet, while the other had exquisite makeup and looked at Diana warily. The remaining two men were unremarkable. But their eyes occasionally glanced at Diana, wondering of something. Diana shook Lily's hand, smiling politely. "Hey, I'm Diana."

Lily stared at her face, admiringly, "Your skin is amazing! What do you use for skincare? Are you here for the PR position? With your looks, you'll definitely get it."

In the workplace, beauty was an advantage, especially for someone as exceptionally beautiful as Diana. If today's interviewer were a man, he might have hired her on the spot.

"I think what's more important is ability. We all have just two eyes and a nose, not much different." Diana replied seriously. She meant it because if looks were that useful, Charles wouldn't have tormented her so much. Beauty only became an advantage with the right person.

The girl with exquisite makeup snorted, her tone mocking. "Is it so hard to admit you rely on your looks?"

Lily, hearing her aggressive tone, spoke up for Diana, "Can you even find a job with that attitude? I don't know if others rely on their looks, but you probably got your last job that way."

The girl didn't expect Lily, who looked cute, to be so sharp-tongued, and was momentarily furious.

The girl said furiously, "You! I'm just being honest, and I didn't even mention you."

"So what? You like being honest, and so do I. But I'm talking about you. If you're upset, good, because I did it on purpose." Lily retorted, drawing everyone's attention.

"Do you know her? Why are you defending her? If she gets hired and you don't, let's see if you can still smile." She was furious, glaring at Lily.

Seeing the argument, the other three tried to mediate but to no avail. The next second, Diana stood up, moved to a seat in front of them, and gently knocked on the table, interrupting the pointless quarrel. "Alright, everyone, the interview is about to start. Please keep quiet."

Everyone was startled by Diana's actions, even Lily. But the girl with exquisite makeup immediately retorted, "Are you pretending to be the interviewer? You look younger than me. How could you be the boss? When the real interviewer comes, let's see how you handle it."

The next second, Coralie came in with water.

Seeing her, the girl immediately complained, "Coralie, this interviewee is pretending to be the interviewer. It's good that you're here, get her out."

Coralie saw Diana sitting there, then looked at the girl, puzzled. "What are you talking about? She is today's interviewer. Sit down; the interview is about to start."

The interviewees were stunned. They had expected the general manager to be at least in their thirties or forties. But Diana, with her hair tied up, looked like she had just graduated, yet she was so young and accomplished.

The girl realized how absurd her behavior had been. She stood there, pale-faced, knowing that she had already been eliminated from the interview.

Diana spoke slowly, "You're very pretty; there's no need to be hostile towards me. Our company values ability." With that, Diana looked through the documents on the table, picking out the girl's resume and skimming it.

She had many job experiences, but the longest period she stayed at any company was less than six months. Her seemingly rich work history had very few accomplishments.

Diana frowned and said to Coralie, "Coralie, our company values ability. Prioritize ability over appearance when hiring in the future, even for the PR department."
