Chapter 225 Love Lessons

When Charles said that, Eugene got the hint.

Man, Charles was totally in love but still acting like he wasn't.

What a hypocrite!

Love wasn't just about someone's good points; it was about seeing their flaws and still sticking around.

Diana had done so many things that used to drive Charles nuts, but now he was head over heels and had forgotten all about them.

It was sad that Charles, who could handle the business world like a pro, couldn't deal with his own feelings. One day, he'd regret it.

Eugene took a sip of his drink, glanced at Charles, and said, "So why'd you call me here? To drink away your sorrows? You don't have a woman who loves you, but I do."

Charles turned and shot him a cold look, then threw a punch.

Even though Eugene dodged quickly, his cheekbone still got hit.

He rubbed his face, sounding all hurt. "Charles, what do you want to say?"

He wasn't in the mood for some secret love story.

Charles flexed his fingers, clearly tipsy, and slumped on the sofa, his voice low. "But it seems like she doesn't like me anymore."

He'd seen Diana's eyes so many times, eyes that used to be full of love, but he found them clingy and annoying.

Now, those eyes were filled with hate, and it hurt like something important had been ripped away.

No matter how many times they hugged and kissed, he couldn't feel any of Diana's affection for him.

How could it disappear so fast? Was their relationship just about that marriage certificate?

Eugene opened another bottle of wine and didn't react much. "That's normal. If I were her, I wouldn't like you either."

"Why?" Charles asked.

With the sound of wine clinking against the glass, Eugene raised an eyebrow and said, "Isn't it obvious? Think about how you usually treat her. Is there anything worth liking?"

He took a sip of his drink and glanced at Charles, his words blunt, fearing another punch.

Charles' Adam's apple bobbed, his gaze turning somber. Try as he might to suppress them, Eugene's words brought back memories of what Diana had once said to him. "I won't bother you anymore. I regret marrying you."

Those words cut into him like sharp blades, piercing his heart and making his breath come in heavy gasps.

But the next second, he said, "Go ahead."

Eugene raised an eyebrow and said bluntly, "Didn't you hate her? When she kept pestering you before, didn't you wish she'd disappear completely? Now that she really doesn't like you, you fall in love? To Diana, this is self-inflicted humiliation."

Those words hit Charles hard, sending a jolt through his nerves.

Eugene took another sip of his drink and continued, "Speaking of which, Diana is really strong. If it were another girl being tormented by you like this, she would've had a mental breakdown and committed suicide long ago. If I were her, I'd absolutely despise you!"

Charles' eyes darkened several shades. He did want Diana to die before, but that was just talk; he didn't really mean it.

His fingers curled slightly, feeling a bit annoyed at being exposed.

In fact, he did think about it, and he admitted he had been excessive before. But now, he wanted to make amends.

Now that they had a child, even if they remarried later, it wouldn't be impossible.

Seeing Eugene's nonchalant look, Charles kicked him.

Eugene yelped and bounced away, clutching his leg and swaying on the sofa. "Didn't you ask me to say it! Why are you hitting me!"

Charles pursed his lips and shot back, "I didn't call you here to scold me. I need a solution."

Eugene paused, surprised. "You want my help to fix this mess?"

He stared at Charles, trying to read his mind.

Charles held the wine bottle, looked away, and didn't meet his gaze. A light hum escaped his throat, confirming Eugene's guess.

Eugene's smile widened, turning smug. He stretched his legs out, crossing them on the table, and said proudly, "Well, I do know women better than you. From grandmas to young girls, I get them."

Charles glared at him, growing impatient.

Noticing this, Eugene quickly cleared his throat and got serious. "You need to sweet-talk her. Women like men who go along with them. And use your good looks. Besides seduction, spend money on gifts. The Percy family is loaded. Spoiling Diana won't hurt you."

These were his tried-and-true methods for wooing women. In his eyes, as long as a guy wasn't afraid of making a fool of himself, there wasn't a woman out there he couldn't reel in.

Charles had the looks and the means; he just needed to swallow his pride and make an effort. Diana would forgive him.

Charles fell into thought. During their fights, Diana had mentioned he was good-looking. When they were married, he occasionally humored her and gave her gifts. She'd light up with a smile and sweetly say, "Thank you, hubby."

But Charles hated that term. What did he do? He took the gifts back and told her to get lost.

Thinking of this, he felt a bit anxious, took a big gulp of wine, and tried to suppress the emotion.

Eugene's advice was somewhat useful.

Seeing Charles staring at the wine bottle, Eugene felt a bit guilty. His advice worked for most women, but he wasn't sure about Diana.

So he added, "This method should work, but it depends on your performance. Smile more often. Your stern face scares her."

Charles pondered, then curved his mouth up and squinted slightly. "Like this?"

In the dim light, his sudden eerie smile scared Eugene.

"Damn it, Charles, stop smiling like that. It's creepy."

Seeing Eugene scared, Charles dropped the smile, feeling impatient. 'Smiling or not, this is such a hassle,' he thought.

Eugene rubbed his arms and said seriously, "Maybe don't smile. Cold, handsome guys are pretty popular with young girls."

If Charles smiled at Diana like that, she'd probably think he was nuts.

"Alright, enough about women. We haven't seen each other in ages. Did you miss me?" Eugene slipped back into his playboy demeanor.

But Charles stood up, looking indifferent. "Then we have nothing to talk about."

He threw down the wine bottle, opened the door, and left quickly.

Eugene muttered to himself, bewildered, "Damn it! What do you mean we have nothing to talk about? Is talking about women my only value? Charles, you bastard, no wonder no one loves you!"
