Chapter 189 The End

This time, not just Clara, but everyone else had weird looks on their faces.

They saw it clear as day. Even though there wasn't a physical fight, Diana had the upper hand the whole time, leaving Nathan no room to defend himself.

The cop was the first to nod and say, "We all saw it, there's no problem here. Ms. Spencer, you can go now."

Diana nodded, flashed a smile at Clara while holding up the document, "Alright, I'm heading out. Ms. Williams, maybe you should use this time to talk to your dad."

With that, she turned and left with Robert.

The bodyguards were a bit confused, trying to keep Clara from going after Diana while also needing to leave together. It was a tricky situation.

Clara heard Diana and immediately struggled, "Let go of me, I need to talk to my dad."

The two bodyguards exchanged a look, loosened their grip a bit, and positioned themselves to block Diana's path just in case.

Clara just snorted and stormed into the interrogation room.

"Dad, why did you sign the contract? We agreed to discuss it more! Now our only leverage is gone, what are we gonna do?" Clara didn't care about Nathan's low spirits; she was all accusatory.

"What can we do?" Nathan's anger flared. Both his daughters seemed so unreliable, it felt like they wanted to drive him to his wits' end.

"Now only Diana can help us. I asked you to beg Charles, and what happened? You got kicked out! Useless!"

His tone was bitter, and the last insult was so low Clara didn't catch it, but she was still riled up by his words.

Her eyes turned red, and she angrily pounded the interrogation table, "I've been busting my ass outside and taking care of Mom. If it weren't for your screw-ups, we wouldn't be in this mess!"

Seeing Clara's anger, Nathan impatiently furrowed his brows. But remembering he still needed her help to get out, he softened his tone, "I'm sorry, Clara. I was in a bad mood and talking nonsense. I didn't mean it, please forgive me?"

Clara didn't respond, turning her head away from him.

Nathan sighed, and with his handcuffed hand on the table, he reached for her hand. The moment his fingertips brushed hers, memories of their days spent hand in hand, playing together when she was little, washed over him.

"It's my fault. But I sold the shares for our family. That jerk Diana took advantage of us and only gave us 5 million dollars. Check the account balance at home. If she doesn't transfer the money, we'll fight her to the end. Even if we go down, we'll take someone with us." Nathan held Clara's hand and explained the situation.

Clara's eyelashes trembled, thinking the plan was too risky. If Diana went back on her word, they'd lose everything.

But seeing Nathan's determined eyes, she felt a bit more reassured.

She still had the recording. At worst, she'd go down with Diana.

The Williams family was struggling, and she wouldn't let Diana live comfortably as "Mrs. Percy".

Thinking this, Clara's tone softened, and she scratched Nathan's palm with her fingers, whispering, "Then I'll wait for you to come out, Dad. Our family will be together again."

Nathan smiled genuinely, "Okay, I'll be back in a few days."

As they were having a tender moment, the officer at the door impatiently knocked, "Time's up, you two. Come back tomorrow if you want to visit."

Clara was about to get angry at the interruption, but Nathan squeezed her hand tightly.

He shook his head at Clara, signaling that it was better to be patient right now.

"Sorry, officer. I'll go back with you."

Then he turned to Clara and whispered, "Clara, you should go. Take care of your mom and wait for me to come out."

Clara nodded tearfully, watching as the officers took Nathan away.

He hadn't been in for long, but his back was already hunched.

She wiped her tears and watched Nathan go inside.

Her fists clenched at her sides, and she swore in her mind, 'Diana, I will make you pay.'

On the other side, as soon as they left the police station, Robert couldn't help but ask, "Did you really agree to both of his requests?"

Clearly, they had gotten shares from Silas without spending a penny and even made him give some back. Why be lenient with Nathan?

Diana's tone was indifferent, and with the two bodyguards not yet caught up, she took the opportunity to say more.

"He's only out for a few days. I want him to grasp hope and then lose it immediately."

She paused for a moment and added, "You can think of it as me being bored, just wanting to torment them."

The Williams family were all ungrateful and insatiable, so she was determined to make them suffer thoroughly.

Seeing her firm tone, Robert didn't ask further.

Diana sometimes seemed impulsive, more so than Bianca, but she was actually much stronger than Bianca.

Robert was in charge of the police station, but the key things were still handled by Diana.

Seeing the two bodyguards catch up, Diana nodded slightly, "I'll let you know about the remaining matters. The company and police station affairs will still trouble you."

Robert nodded, watching Diana leave. The two tall bodyguards following her made him squint. The scene was almost identical to Nathan being escorted by two officers.

Now the Spencer Group was entirely hers, and if she got busy, she might need a professional agent.

Robert rubbed his temples, deciding to handle these trivial matters himself. Diana's life under Charles was not much different from being in prison.

Even if she didn't say it, it was clear her days were tough. Someone as proud as her wouldn't be content being tied down by a child.

On the way, Diana looked listless, her energy far from what it used to be.

The bodyguard in the front saw her listless expression in the rearview mirror and instinctively slowed down.

She noticed the slower speed and frowned, "No need, just drive normally. I'm tired and want to go home early to rest."

"Okay."

In the country of Celestria.

Nolan had recovered and stood beside Charles, reporting on the information about the business partner they were meeting.

"Dawn Innovations Group has a unique business. This time, we're meeting their representative in Celestria, Mike Bennett. He has never accepted any invitations from other groups before. All we know is that he's not a native of Celestria."

Charles leaned back on the sofa, his right hand rhythmically tapping the armrest.

After Nolan finished, he slowly spoke, "To be Dawn Innovations Group's agent, Mike must be extraordinary. We'll adapt as needed."

It wasn't that Nolan didn't want to investigate further, but Dawn Innovations Group had the powerful Dark Web organization as its backing, with strict confidentiality for its members.

Even this collaboration was initiated by Dawn Innovations Group.

The Percy Group was renowned on the global wealth list, and Dawn Innovations Group naturally didn't want to miss out on this partner.

So objectively, they were invited as the primary party this time.
