Chapter 524 Dean's Discontent

Nolan saw that Charles was finally ready to talk, and he nodded right away.

"Yeah, in the company, my orders are just like yours."

"Can you do anything?"

"Absolutely."

Even if Charles asked him to kill someone, he'd hand him the knife without a second thought.

"Why am I in the hospital? What happened last night?"

Nolan glanced at Diana instinctively, and when she gave a slight nod, he started to explain.

"It's a long story, but I'll break it down for you..."

Nolan took his time explaining why Charles was injured and ended up in the hospital.

When it came to last night's events, Diana took over.

"Last night, it was probably your brother's people. No need to dig into it. I took over your duties while you were out, and I'll hand them back once you're up and running. The person who least wants you awake right now is probably him."

Nolan nodded, backing up Diana's suspicion.

"My brother..."

In Charles's mind, Zachary was still just a kid, and he couldn't link him to this assassination attempt.

But there was no love lost between them, so it made sense that he'd pull something like this as he got older.

There was another knock on the door, and before anyone could respond, a little boy of about four or five burst into the room like a rocket.

The man behind him was panting heavily, hands on his knees.

"We should sign Benjamin up for track. He runs like the wind."

But no one in the room responded, and the atmosphere was tense.

"Mr. Percy, you're awake! Finally! I was so worried about you."

Benjamin's words snapped everyone out of their daze.

He rushed to Charles's side but was careful not to touch his wounds, only holding his hand and crying softly.

Dean's mind was racing.

Damn it! How did Charles wake up all of a sudden?

Diana had only told Nolan about this last night, and Dean and Benjamin were completely in the dark. Dean had just brought Benjamin to visit as usual.

But now that Charles was awake, things were bad. If Charles was awake, Diana couldn't escape.

Dean grabbed Diana's hand, scooped up the crying Benjamin, and quickly dragged them out of the room.

Once they were outside, Diana looked puzzled.

"What are you doing?"

Benjamin, still crying, looked confused.

"Yeah, Dean, what are you doing?"

Dean didn't stop, rushing to the stairwell to press the elevator button, his actions resembling someone fleeing for their life.

"He's awake now. If we don't run, you won't be able to escape. The Percy Group is in chaos, and Charles won't recover immediately. We need to leave now and never come back to this place."

"Dean, stop."

Diana raised her voice, trying to pull her hand back, but he held on tighter.

"Dean! I said stop!"

Finally, she couldn't hold back and shouted sternly.

At that moment, the elevator arrived, and the doors opened to reveal a group of patients and their families.

They looked at the three standing at the door and asked, "Are you coming in?"

Diana turned and walked away, making her stance clear.

Dean gritted his teeth and followed her, still holding Benjamin.

They reached the stairwell, and Diana finally stopped and turned to face him.

"You don't need to be so nervous. Charles won't do anything to you."

"Of course, I'm not close to him. He wouldn't dare touch me. But Diana, he'll keep you tied to him. Let's go, I've already got the plane ready."

Dean couldn't understand why Diana was acting this way. They had agreed to leave once Charles woke up.

Benjamin looked at Diana and then at Dean, and whispered, "Can I say goodbye to him before we leave?"

"No!"

"We're not leaving."

Two voices spoke at the same time, one anxious and one calm.

"Why not?"

"He has amnesia. He doesn't remember us, Dean. He doesn't know you."

"Amnesia?"

Dean was stunned but quickly grew suspicious, thinking it was a new trick.

"Impossible. That's too convenient. How could he have amnesia? It's definitely a ploy to make you stay."

"The doctors checked thoroughly. There's a blood clot in his brain. He got hit in the head while saving me."

Diana spoke honestly. With Charles's personality, he wouldn't need to play tricks. He would just take what he wanted directly.

"So, you're feeling soft-hearted again?"

Dean laughed bitterly, then his expression turned fierce.

"Have you forgotten how he treated you before? Just because he saved you once and forgot everything, you think you can start over? Sophia! How can you be so naive?"

He was truly angry this time.

"Mommy, Dean, please don't fight. I'm scared..."

Benjamin's eyes widened as he watched them, the atmosphere tense.

Diana heard her son's voice and immediately crouched down.

"Benjamin, you and Dean go back first. I'll stay here for a while."

It was hard to escape with a child, but she had a chance if she was alone.

Seeing her say this, Dean frowned.

"Wouldn't it be easier if you came with us? Forget Charles. Even if his company is taken over by his brother, it's his bad luck."

"The situation now is that I don't want his brother to take over."

Diana's expression was calm.

"His brother and stepmother have caused me a lot of harm. Leaving like this isn't my style. I want them to pay."

"What if he suddenly remembers everything one day? What will you do then?"

"If someone wants to leave, they can't be stopped. Dean, I'm really fine. Trust me."

Diana took a deep breath and patted Dean's shoulder to reassure him.

"Then I'll stay too. Mr. Percy doesn't remember us, Dean, you can stay too."

Benjamin suggested, thinking it was a good idea.

Dean rolled his eyes.

"What identity would I use to stay? You're his wife, and he's your son. I'm just an outsider. You should be a happy family, and I'm interrupting your happy time."

As he spoke, he started to walk away. Diana couldn't stand it anymore and kicked him in the butt, making him stumble.

Benjamin's eyes widened, thinking they were about to fight, but Diana shouted angrily.

"Dean, if you dare to be so presumptuous again, stay away from me. Who gave you the right to question my decisions?"

Dean, who had been so arrogant, suddenly looked clearer after being kicked. He hung his head, sniffed, and his eyes turned red.

"Sophia, that's not what I meant. Charles caused me so much psychological harm. I don't want you to be with him."
