Chapter 352 Video Call
Diana ignored his sparkling eyes and said flatly, "No way. You've got plenty of women around you, so why keep bugging me? My situation's different. Today we're friends, but who knows, we might be enemies tomorrow."
Brayden lowered his gaze, his long lashes hiding his eyes, looking somewhat dejected.
"I get it. I'm not strong enough yet. If I become more powerful, will you stop worrying about our statuses and give me a chance?"
Diana was almost worn down by his persistence.
Her acquaintance with Brayden dates back to Benjamin's first birthday.
Diana had attended a jewelry auction and bought a yellow crystal as a birthday gift for Benjamin.
The high bidding price caught the attention of Brayden, the event's host, leading to their first encounter.
Their second meeting was when Diana was hired by Dawn Innovations Group to retrieve stolen business secrets.
Brayden was shocked when he realized that Sword of Damocles' A and Diana were the same person.
He hadn't expected the famous hacker to be such a beautiful young woman.
Whether it was Diana's beauty or his admiration for strength, Brayden fell for her.
Her familiar Rainbow Federation features reminded him of his mother, who was also from the Rainbow Federation.
Brayden's gentlemanly demeanor masked his relentless pursuit of those he liked. Diana had repeatedly told him they weren't suitable, but he remained undeterred.
Brayden assumed Diana was dissatisfied with his status, but the truth was that Diana, young and beautiful, was worried about her four-year-old child.
She didn't mind people knowing her identity, but she couldn't let them know about her vulnerability.
So, she let Brayden believe his own reasons for her rejection, never explaining.
"Then keep trying. Good luck," Diana said, making a supportive gesture.
Brayden blinked, "How about having dinner with me for some encouragement? I'll have my private jet take you home afterward. Your house isn't going anywhere, no need to rush."
It seemed she couldn't avoid having dinner with him. Diana sighed and compromised, "Alright, I'll stay an extra day. We'll have dinner tomorrow."
"Wonderful, beautiful Diana, you're so kind. God will bless you," Brayden said, satisfied, as he gently held her fingertips and kissed her hand before leaving.
Diana shook her head helplessly. Brayden always reminded her of Billy, but as an occasional client, Brayden was even more persistent.
'Well, it's just business. Having dinner isn't a big deal. Better to have more friends than enemies,' she thought.
But her plans to return home were delayed. Diana decided to call Dean and Benjamin.
Benjamin would surely be excited for her return, and she could buy some gifts in Celestria to bring back.
With that in mind, she took out her phone and dialed Dean's number. But the call went unanswered, leaving Diana puzzled.
"What's going on? What's Dean busy with?" she muttered, but didn't dwell on it. She then called Benjamin, this time opting for a video call.
At the Percy Mansion.
Benjamin lay in the guest room, wearing clothes Jacob had prepared, which seemed to belong to Charles. The comfortable short-sleeve shirt was like a dress on Benjamin.
Jacob felt a bit embarrassed, but with no children in the house, Benjamin had to make do.
Benjamin didn't mind, and once Jacob left, he sat on the bed, examining the room.
His watch suddenly vibrated, and Benjamin saw a call from "Mommy." He beamed, aimed the camera at his face, and answered the video call with a big smile.
"Mommy! Why are you calling again? Do you miss me already?"
Diana smiled at his proud little face, "Of course, I miss you so much after just one day."
Benjamin remembered today's grievances but didn't want Diana to notice during the call. He held back his emotions and cheerfully said, "I miss you too, Mommy."
"I just called Dean, but he didn't answer. Are you in your room now?" Diana asked.
Dean must be busy, and Diana didn't know what had happened. To avoid getting scolded, Benjamin decided to tell a little lie.
"Yeah, I think Sword of Damocles needed his help? I'm not sure. Are you coming back the day after tomorrow?"
Diana remembered her call's purpose and felt a bit guilty, "Sorry, sweetheart, I have to stay an extra day. I'll bring you a gift, okay?"
Diana expected Benjamin to throw a tantrum, but to her surprise, he was exceptionally calm this time.
He just blinked and replied, "It's okay, Mommy. I'll like whatever gift you bring. I'll wait for you to come back!"
Seeing him so well-behaved, Diana's heart softened. They chatted for a while until Benjamin yawned, and Diana said goodnight.
Once the call ended, Benjamin, who had been yawning, was suddenly wide awake.
No way, it was only 9 PM, and he had slept during the day. How could he be tired?
Though not tired, Benjamin's stomach growled loudly. He had only had a dessert today and was starving.
'Doesn't anyone cook in this house? Has Charles evolved into a creature that doesn't need food to survive?'
Benjamin's imagination ran wild as he cautiously opened the door.
The corridor was empty, but the lights were on.
Wearing ill-fitting slippers, Benjamin carefully made his way downstairs.
Downstairs, it was also very quiet.
The familiar Jacob was nowhere to be seen; only a few servants stood in the corners like statues.
This house was really creepy, quite scary.
Benjamin rubbed his arms, trying to bolster his courage. 'There's nothing scary, it's just nighttime.'
The sound of his slippers was too loud, so after taking a couple of steps, Benjamin kicked them off and decided to walk barefoot.
He remembered the servants bringing dessert from this direction, so the kitchen must be this way.
Benjamin carefully walked forward and finally found the kitchen.
He was delighted, imagining the delicious food he would find to fill his stomach. His mouth watered as he reached the fridge, standing on tiptoe to open the door.
But when he opened the fridge, he was stunned. It wasn't empty, but filled with raw ingredients, nothing ready to eat.
Benjamin was only 4 years old; even if he were a genius, he certainly couldn't cook!
His face fell as he searched and found only an apple.
He didn't like apples, but he was so hungry that he could eat anything.
Benjamin took a bite of the apple, but his stomach growled even louder.
He sighed and was about to leave the kitchen when a tall figure appeared at the door.
"What are you doing here?"
