Chapter 42 What are you doing here?

At the Mirage Nights Club, Room 405, Eugene had Charles come out again and brought along a buddy to introduce.

In the private room, besides Charles, the other two guys had their ladies with them. Seeing Charles drinking solo, Finnian Davis asked, "Mr. Percy, isn't it boring drinking alone? Why didn't you bring a date?"

Charles didn't really want to deal with Finnian. But Finnian's family had struck gold a few years back in the internet biz, making a killing with software. They had potential for some business deals, so Charles reluctantly joined in.

Charles's eyes were like daggers aimed at Eugene. Sensing Charles's anger, Eugene quickly explained,  "Mr. Percy just got divorced and is pretty down on women. That's why we're here, to drink with him."

Finnian squinted and grinned, saying, "Divorce is good." But after he said that, only Eugene clinked glasses with him.

Charles leaned back on the leather sofa, his face a bit flushed from the booze. His tie was loose, and his shirt was unbuttoned down to his chest, making him look pretty tempting. Eugene and Finnian's dates couldn't help but sneak glances at him. Suddenly, the door to the private room swung open, and everyone turned to look.

Diana walked in, her hair tied up, rocking a sweatshirt and jeans. She looked like a college kid who just got out of class, full of energy.

Charles almost didn't recognize her. When he did, he narrowed his eyes dangerously. 'Diana's getting gutsy, tracking me down!'

Diana was holding a bottle of wine and froze for a couple of seconds when she saw Charles. 'What's he doing here?'

Ten minutes earlier, after settling the kids, Diana and Isolde had rushed to Room 405. But Isolde started to chicken out. She'd impulsively chased her husband here but now couldn't face him.

Diana got why she was scared but didn't want her to end up like Bianca. So she suggested pretending to be a waitress to scope things out first. She'd blend in and wait for Isolde to be ready before busting the cheater. Isolde nodded and watched Diana go in.

Eugene saw Diana with the wine and thought someone had ordered it. But seeing how pretty she was, he waved her over. "Come here, are you new? Haven't seen you before."

Finnian, with his secretary in his arms, joined in the teasing. "Who ordered this? Was it Mr. Percy? No wonder he's drinking alone, waiting for someone."

Eugene knew Charles would never order a woman, so he felt safe flirting, not noticing Charles's face getting darker.

Diana ignored the two guys, trying to figure out who the cheater was. Charles had never introduced her to his friends, so she didn't know Eugene but didn't like his sleazy smile. She didn't recognize the other guy either. He seemed pretty average, just honest-looking.

'Which one is the cheater?' she wondered. For a moment, Diana even forgot about Charles.

Seeing her not moving, Eugene urged, "Is this how Mirage Nights Club trains you? Come over and pour the wine."

Diana listened and walked over. She was pretty sure now that the handsome Eugene was Isolde's husband. She quietly weighed the wine bottle, thinking about where to hit him to hurt but not seriously injure.

Charles watched her, her hair swaying as she moved. She was pretending not to know him, running to another guy at his beck and call! Charles was fuming, his face tight with anger.

As Diana passed by him, he grabbed her arm and pulled her into his lap. She yelped, grabbing his collar to steady herself.

Charles had this woody scent, but Diana wrinkled her nose, annoyed and wanting to get away. 'Charles, this nutcase, always tells me to get lost, so what's he doing now?' she cursed silently.

Diana pushed against his chest to get up, but he held her wrist tight. She shouted, "What are you doing! Let go of me!"

Charles's voice was low and cold. "Who told you I was here? Getting bold, aren't you? Is it because the Spencer Group didn't go bankrupt, so you feel confident again?"

Diana was confused, realizing he thought she was stalking him. "Charles, can you let me out of your arms before saying that?"

She rolled her eyes. Anyone watching would think they were flirting.

Eugene, sitting a bit away from Charles, couldn't hear what they were saying but was really curious about who this girl was. If it were him, he would've kissed her already.

Charles grabbed Diana's chin, his eyes piercing. "Speak! How did you know my schedule?" He wondered, 'Only Nolan knows about my visit to Mirage Nights Club. Is it Nolan?'

"I'm here on business. It has nothing to do with you, just a coincidence," Diana explained, but Charles's grip tightened, like he wanted to crush her jaw.

Just as Diana's eyes filled with tears from the pain, Isolde burst in, kicking the door open for courage. She was holding Diana's phone, recording everything.

Isolde immediately saw Finnian in the corner, making out with a woman. Even though she was mentally prepared, her grievances surged, and tears fell. But she rationally pointed the camera at Finnian, recording enough evidence.

Then, Isolde rushed over and separated them. She straddled Finnian, slapping him left and right. Finnian, engrossed in his make-out session, hadn't noticed anything else. Being suddenly slapped, he was too stunned to be angry.

Seeing Isolde's tear-streaked face, Finnian woke up, realizing he was in deep trouble. Not only was Finnian stunned, but Eugene and Charles were also confused. Diana took advantage of Charles's distraction to break free from his grip. She quickly ran to lock the door, preventing Finnian from escaping.

Finnian's face burned from the slaps, and he stammered, "Honey, why are you here? Let me explain! It's not what you think!"

Diana turned back and said for Isolde, "Explain what? Do your mouths have magnets? Do they stick together when you get close?"

Diana voiced Isolde's thoughts, so she stayed silent, just slapping harder.

Eugene was stunned by the scene, and his date ran away. But Diana stopped her, not letting her leave and spill the beans.
