Chapter 296 Meet Dean

[Hey Diana,

Hope you're doing alright. Sorry if this is a bit forward, but I miss you so much I just had to write. How are you doing with Charles? I worry about you all the time. Hang in there; I'll come get you soon. We'll run away, get married, and have a bunch of kids. I love you!]

The letter was short and filled with unsettling declarations of love.

Diana frowned as she quickly read through it. When she saw Billy's name at the end, she knew something was off.

This letter was ridiculous in every way.

First of all, Billy wasn't that kind of guy. He always listened to Diana and never wanted to complicate things for her.

After their last meeting, he had even instinctively kept his distance. There was no way he would write such a blatant love letter.

"Who the hell sent this?"

Diana cursed out loud, then turned and tore the letter into pieces. Even then, she wasn't satisfied until she burned the fragments to ashes.

After doing all this, the room was filled with a pungent smell of smoke. Diana went downstairs with a stern face and called Tessa over for a thorough questioning.

"Who sent this? Can't you find out? Not many people would know the address of The Percy Mansion, right?"

Tessa clasped her hands in front of her, looking puzzled.

"What's wrong, Ms. Spencer? Is there something wrong with the letter? Let me take a look."

"No need. Just check the surveillance and see who delivered it."

"The mansion's surveillance has been down for repairs recently. If you want to find out who did this, maybe you could ask Mr. Percy to investigate." Tessa suggested.

Diana's expression froze. She had to handle this herself. If Charles saw Billy's name, he would react badly.

He would likely crush Billy without caring about the truth.

"No, I'll handle it. From now on, don't let things like this come directly inside."

Tessa nodded obediently, even showing a rare smile.

"Yes, Ms. Spencer."

In the following days, Diana didn't receive anything else.

She gradually relaxed and focused her attention on Dean. Tomorrow, they would finally meet again.

It had been years since they last saw each other.

Back then, Sophia was busy with missions and didn't return to the Sword of Damocles. Dean later only received news of her death.

Their bond was like family, and her sudden death had been a shock Dean couldn't accept.

But now, after everything they had been through, Sophia was meeting him again with a new identity.

As the appointed time approached, she grew more anxious.

Dean was of mixed race, tall and with deep-set eyes. Even walking down the streets of the Rainbow Federation, he attracted quite a few glances.

To avoid exposing their whereabouts, he wore a mask and waited anxiously in a private room.

When there was a knock on the door, Dean's heart leapt into his throat.

He trembled as he said, "Come in."

The door opened, and a slender, delicate woman stood at the entrance.

Her hair was long and straight, falling to her waist.

She wore a loose dress, making her look even more fragile.

With her face backlit, Dean couldn't see clearly and tentatively called out, "Sophia?"

Diana was nervous too, but hearing him call her that, she smiled and teased, "Still as silly as ever? Who else could it be but me?"

In an instant, Dean rushed to the door and enveloped Diana in a tight hug.

Her figure was completely different from before.

Previously, she needed to complete tasks, and her body was much stronger and more powerful, a formidable woman.

But now, after not exercising for a long time, Diana's body had softened. Being hugged so tightly by Dean, it felt as if her waist might break.

She struggled to lift her head and patted his back, her voice strained, "Let go! You're crushing me!"

Dean rested his chin on her shoulder, silent but loosening his grip slightly, tears streaming down his face.

Diana felt her neck getting wet from his tears and couldn't help but feel both amused and heartbroken.

If the Sword of Damocles crew knew Dean was such a crybaby, they'd laugh their heads off.

But after experiencing life and death, she understood and let him hold her, using one hand to close the door.

Outside, a man watched from a distance, looking surprised.

The man next to him, who resembled him but was more mature and distinguished, frowned and warned, "The client we're meeting today is important. Don't even think about running off."

Eugene, pulled from his thoughts by his brother Frank Bailey's words, scratched his head and muttered, "I think I saw someone I know."

Frank glared at him, "You've used that excuse too many times. Get inside!"

"I'm serious, Frank! I'm not lying this time!"

Eugene wanted to say more, but seeing Frank's fierce look, he shut up and obediently entered the room.

He was sure he hadn't been mistaken. That woman was definitely Diana.

Dean cried for a long time before finally letting go of Diana.

"Such a big, strong man acting all helpless. Dean, aren't you embarrassed?"

Diana crossed her arms and teased him mercilessly.

Despite her changed appearance and body, her manner of speaking still had traces of Sophia.

Dean had no doubts and quickly accepted that Sophia had been reborn.

However, he curiously pinched Diana's arm and couldn't resist poking her face.

It wasn't until he got slapped that he reluctantly withdrew his hand and said, "Sophia, this is incredible. The integration is perfect. It's much more convenient than our old identity swaps."

"I had to die to get this. Who would dare try?"

Diana rolled her eyes. Rebirth wasn't that simple.

The hardships she endured in the Rainbow Federation were far worse than her days as a hacker.

Dean's expression grew serious. He gripped Diana's arms and promised, "Sophia, I'll never let you face danger alone again. You have to live well."

His eyes were still red, tears glistening at the corners, looking incredibly sincere.

Just like years ago, Diana patted his head, "Okay."

Dean felt a bit more at ease. Their meeting wasn't just a reunion; it was also to help Diana escape The Percy Mansion.

He had already investigated Charles, a man with a powerful background, difficult to dig into.

In short, not someone to mess with.

He didn't know how Sophia had ended up with such a target, but as long as Dean was around, they could definitely escape.

"Sophia, why don't we run now? I can erase our tracks."

Dean suggested. For hackers like them, this was second nature.

Diana punched him lightly, "Are you nuts? A man like him, once he knows I'm gone, will dig up the earth to find me. There are hackers everywhere. Do you want to be on the run forever?"

Dean's expression grew more serious, "Why is he so difficult?"

"If it were easy, I would have run already. But don't worry, there's a way. That's why I need your help."

Diana, the one directly involved, was much calmer than he was.
