Chapter 231 Meet Again
The two had barely walked a few steps when Evelyn leaned in and whispered, "Ms. Spencer, the adopter you mentioned... it's not Mr. Richardson, is it?"
"Yeah, why?" Diana replied, her face showing no emotion. She couldn't figure out what Evelyn was so worried about.
Evelyn's frown deepened. "But if that's the case, Mr. Percy is definitely going to be pissed."
"Why would he be mad?" Diana asked, genuinely confused.
Charles wasn't a fan of dogs, so she thought finding a dog lover to adopt it was a perfect solution. Why was Evelyn acting so worried about it?
"Mr. Percy really can't stand Mr. Richardson. If you let him adopt the dog, you're just asking for trouble."
Evelyn bit her lip. Diana was already walking on thin ice at The Percy Mansion; it wouldn't be smart to make Charles any angrier.
Diana just shook her head and said, "It's fine; Charles already doesn't like me."
"But..." Evelyn tried to argue, but Diana cut her off.
Diana's eyes sparkled with a hint of mischief. "If everything I do is wrong, then I might as well do whatever I want. Besides, as long as we keep quiet, no one will know Billy adopted the dog."
Evelyn hesitated but eventually nodded. "Alright, Ms. Spencer, we won't tell anyone!"
Jacob hadn't let the bodyguards follow them today, so keeping it a secret seemed doable.
Behind them, Billy and Snowy were playing. Noticing the serious looks on their faces, Billy joked, "Are you two talking about me? Why so serious?"
Evelyn quickly waved her hand. "No, Mr. Richardson, we were just discussing the adoption."
"Snowy's adorable, and I'm happy to adopt it," Billy said, his eyes lingering on Diana. "Adoption's a big deal. How about we grab dinner sometime to discuss it?"
Evelyn felt something was off and tugged on Diana's sleeve, hoping she'd say no.
But Diana misunderstood and said, "Sure, but I've been pretty busy. Snowy still needs a few more check-ups. Once it's ready, I'll bring it to you."
Billy's smile grew. Thanks to this little dog, they now had a reason to meet.
But then Diana added, "We'll bring Evelyn and Isolde along. She knows the best places to eat."
Evelyn, who had been tense, relaxed a bit. She didn't want Billy to refuse, so she chimed in, "Ms. Spencer hasn't hung out with friends in a while. It'll be fun."
Billy, who had hoped for a more intimate dinner, hesitated but eventually agreed, "Okay."
Just then, Diana's phone buzzed. She pulled it out and saw Sabrina's name on the screen.
She raised an eyebrow and showed the phone to Billy before answering, "Sabrina, what's up?"
Sabrina's sweet, slightly complaining voice came through, "Diana, did you forget something?"
Diana suddenly remembered. She had promised to spend time with Sabrina. "I didn't forget, I've just been swamped. Don't worry, I still have time for you."
But as she spoke, Diana's expression tightened. She quickly checked the date.
Tomorrow was the day they had agreed on.
Sabrina pouted but eventually forgave Diana, her tone becoming cheerful, "I'll have someone pick you up tomorrow."
"No need, I'll come to you. Just set the time and place and send it to me."
Diana was staying at The Percy Mansion, and with Charles's reputation, she didn't want to cause any unnecessary misunderstandings.
Sabrina didn't insist. They chatted a bit more before hanging up.
Satisfied, Sabrina put away her phone and quickly went upstairs, opening the study door.
In the study, Noah was reading documents. He was used to Sabrina's sudden visits and didn't scold her. Without looking up, he asked, "What's up?"
Sabrina smiled and walked to the desk, leaning on it with both hands, speaking proudly, "Noah, I won't be your date tomorrow."
Hearing this, Noah looked up. He pushed his glasses up his nose with one finger and asked, "Why the sudden change? We had an agreement."
Tomorrow was Vance's birthday party, a gathering of the elite. For the Glenn family, these were opportunities. Although Charles had been helping them, they still needed to rely on themselves to make a comeback.
Sabrina, being young, didn't fully understand the family's affairs. She was probably just throwing a tantrum, and a little coaxing would do.
But Sabrina didn't explain. Instead, she smiled and said, "I'm just not being your date, but I'm still going. Don't worry, I've found you a date, and you'll definitely like her."
"Really?" Hearing her confident tone, Noah became interested. He closed the document and began to guess, "Is it Ms. Spencer?"
He guessed correctly. Sabrina didn't have many close friends in the country, and the only one who could satisfy her was Diana.
Sure enough, hearing this, Sabrina proudly said, "That's right! Noah, you have to perform well tomorrow. I'll make Diana look stunning and captivate everyone!"
After she finished, Noah cooperatively smiled and said softly, "Got it. I still have work to finish, so you go have fun."
In the pet park, not long after Diana hung up, Billy curiously asked, "Was that a friend?"
"Yes, a very cute girl. I'll introduce you someday." Diana casually replied while continuing to send messages on her phone.
She had mentioned bringing Isolde along, but she didn't know if Isolde was available on short notice.
Soon, Isolde replied to the message.
Isolde: [I'm busy. I have to attend a party tomorrow. By the way, it's an old acquaintance's birthday, Billy's dad.]
Diana raised an eyebrow, her gaze falling on Billy.
He was playing with Snowy, and noticing Diana's look, he smiled at her.
"Is your dad's birthday tomorrow?" Diana suddenly asked, catching Billy off guard.
But he quickly replied, "Yes, it's a birthday party, but many entrepreneurs and politicians from Evergreen City are invited."
Diana understood immediately. It was probably a way to attract investment for the Richardson Group under the guise of a birthday party.
Thinking of this, she nodded slightly and sincerely said, "Then let me wish Mr. Vance Richardson a happy birthday in advance."
Billy's eyelashes lowered, casting a small shadow on his face, making it hard to read his expression.
If Diana were someone else, he could use this birthday party to introduce her to his family. But now, Vance didn't like her, and Charles was watching closely. This birthday party was not for Diana.
Thinking of this, Billy sighed almost imperceptibly and smiled, "Thank you for your wishes."
