Chapter 364 Eating

Benjamin looked up, his face flushed red. He sniffled, his voice breaking.

"Dean, I didn't mean to. I wanna go home too. I know I messed up."

Seeing him like this, Dean's heart ached. He took a deep breath and spoke softly.

"I'm sorry, Benjamin. I shouldn't have been so hard on you. Are you okay today? Who did this to you? I'll make them pay!"

Benjamin sniffed again and carefully recounted the events of the day.

Upon learning about the misunderstanding, Dean's expression turned serious.

It was good that Charles didn't know Benjamin was his son, but now they were caught up in the Percy family's affairs, making it hard to extricate themselves.

"Dean, what do we do now? I miss Mommy. I wanna go home." Benjamin wiped his tears and asked quietly.

Dean pursed his lips, silent for a moment, then replied, "I need to talk to your mom about this."

"What? Do we have to tell Mommy? Can't we keep it from her?" Benjamin panicked at the mention of Diana.

If they told her, everything would be exposed.

Dean glared at him sternly.

"Do you think you can hide the fact that you secretly went to the Rainbow Federation from her? Do you know how worried she is? She dropped everything to come find you."

"Mommy came to find me?" Benjamin covered his mouth, shocked.

"Of course. She hasn't returned to the Rainbow Federation in five years, and now it's all because of you."

If Benjamin hadn't gotten into trouble this time, Diana might never have gone back.

Now, if she were exposed to Charles, it would be another mess.

Given the situation, Dean could only scold Benjamin a bit, hoping he would learn from this.

"I'm sorry, Dean. I really know I was wrong."

Benjamin's lips formed a straight line, clearly taking the words to heart.

Seeing his sincere apology, Dean's temper softened a bit.

He said, "Take care of yourself now. Don't run around anymore. And don't try to provoke Charles. Wait for us to come get you, okay?"

"Okay, I'll be good."

Benjamin nodded emphatically, feeling much better.

Dean didn't chat with him much longer. After giving a few more instructions, he hung up the phone, intending to discuss the matter with Diana.

But she didn't answer the phone, likely still on the plane. Dean summarized the current situation and sent it all to her.

The Percy Mansion.

There was a knock at the door. Benjamin closed his watch, wiped his tears, and called out, "What's up?"

"Benjamin, it's time to eat."

Jacob's voice came from outside.

"Okay." Benjamin was indeed hungry, so he quickly jumped off the bed and opened the door.

Jacob noticed his red eyes and nose, guessing he had been crying, but didn't ask directly.

Instead, he bent down and said, "Do you need someone to stay with you tonight? If you're scared."

Benjamin shook his head, not needing that.

But he knew Jacob was concerned, so he whispered, "Thank you, Mr. Hearst, I can manage."

Seeing his refusal, Jacob didn't insist. He gestured.

"Let's go eat first."

They headed to the dining room, where Charles was already seated at the head of the table.

Jacob arranged for Benjamin to sit next to Charles.

Soon, the servants began serving the food.

Among the dishes for adults, there were many child-friendly foods, mostly cute and sweet-smelling.

The chef at the mansion made small portions, and the children's meals quickly disappeared into Benjamin's stomach.

Benjamin licked his lips, his eyes brightening.

It was truly delicious!

Noticing his change in expression, Charles slowly cut a piece of steak and put it in his mouth, a barely noticeable smile on his lips.

"Mr. Hearst, I'm done. Thanks for the food. It was really tasty!" Benjamin wiped his mouth and turned to thank Jacob.

Jacob smiled and then bent down respectfully.

"Mr. Percy arranged it. He was worried you wouldn't like the mansion's food, so he hired a chef."

"Too much talking," Charles interrupted Jacob with a slight lift of his lips.

But the message was already conveyed. Benjamin's eyes darted between the two, then he nodded to Charles.

"Thank you, Mr. Percy."

Before anyone could react to his thanks, Benjamin jumped off the chair and bowed to the nearby servants.

"Thank you, thank you all."

Such a grateful heart.

Charles was almost amused by him.

In Benjamin's eyes, he was no different from the servants.

He looked up and addressed Benjamin, who was trying to find the chef to thank.

"Since you've finished eating, go wash up and rest. No more noise."

Benjamin paused, then obediently went upstairs.

Jacob watched his back, sighed, and murmured, "What a good kid."

'Too bad he's Zachary's. If only he were Charles' child,' he thought to himself.

Charles' eyes darkened at his words, then he said, "Don't let anyone know his identity for now. The kid is smart, and we can't let him run around. If anyone comes to see him, turn them away. I'll only see his mother."

Jacob nodded, noting everything.

Zachary's death would soon be public. If the world knew he had a child, the media and public would focus on Benjamin, which wouldn't be good for him. He might even be labeled a bastard.

After all, Zachary had always been unmarried.

Jacob understood the implications and replied, "Yes, Mr. Percy."

Unknowingly, it was already 11 PM. Benjamin had sent many messages to Diana but received no reply. He felt empty inside.

The large room was quiet, with only Benjamin. The balcony door seemed to be slightly open, making noise in the wind.

Benjamin curled up, feeling a bit drowsy, and thought to himself, 'Such strong wind. Please don't let there be thunder.'

But, as fate would have it, just as he was about to fall asleep, a flash of lightning lit up the night sky, briefly illuminating the room through the curtains.

Seconds later, a thunderous boom woke Benjamin.

He trembled, feeling like he was about to be struck by lightning.

"Thunder? Is it going to rain?"

Benjamin sat up, wrapping himself in the blanket, staring at the balcony.

Another flash of lightning, even brighter this time.

"1, 2, 3, 4..."

He counted, but before he reached "5," the thunder exploded.

Sound travels slower than light, and the lightning and thunder were only four seconds apart, very close to the Percy Mansion.

Benjamin's heart raced. He was terrified of thunder.

In extreme weather, he only felt safe in Diana's arms.

Another thunderclap sounded, and Benjamin buried himself in the blanket, trying to block out the noise.

Next door, Charles was reviewing documents sent by Nolan. The room was lit, and the thunderstorm outside seemed to excite him.

Some people feel happy in extreme weather, and Charles was one of them. He even opened the curtains, sitting by the window, occasionally admiring the lightning.

Suddenly, there was a knock at the door.
