Chapter 139 Realization After the Fact
Elise was in a great mood thanks to Claire, her smile even brighter than before.
Once they were settled in the private room, Elise finally spoke up, "Claire, I didn't think you'd get into the company so easily."
Claire kept her smile. "Charles and I go way back, and my dad was his teacher. It makes sense he'd help me out."
Elise fiddled with her cup and went on, "Claire, remember what I told you before?"
"Yeah, Diana's pregnant," Claire's face twisted with anger, almost gritting her teeth. "It's disgusting. Even after the divorce, she can't behave, using the kid to threaten Charles. She better not cross me!"
Seeing Claire's anger, Elise felt secretly pleased and pretended to comfort her, "Claire, don't lose your cool. After all, the Percy family is incredibly wealthy, and Charles is the CEO of the entire conglomerate. It's no wonder Diana doesn't want to let go of him."
Elise's words were clearly meant to stir things up, and Claire's gentle demeanor shifted, her voice turning sharp. "I need to find out what's going on with Diana. If she's a threat to Charles, I won't let her off."
Elise nodded and sighed, "You really care about Charles. You know, I'm not his biological mother. There's always some distance between us. I'm glad you care about him; it eases my mind."
Claire took Elise's hand and said seriously, "Elise, I know you're kind and wouldn't blame Charles. Once I get closer to him, I'll have him bring Zachary back from abroad."
Elise nodded, pretending to wipe away tears, but her eyes were full of disdain.
She mocked in her head, 'This fool Claire, still thinking she can marry Charles, even happy to be used.'
At the Percy Group's private hospital, Diana was all cleaned up and out of her hospital gown, sitting at a desk for a video conference with the Spencer Group employees.
Diana wanted to go straight to the company, but Brenda said her health indicators were still unstable and forbade her from going out.
Evelyn initially supported her, but after hearing Brenda's words, she immediately helped Brenda stop her.
Diana had no choice but to notify the employees of a remote meeting.
To avoid worrying them, Diana changed her clothes and even put on some lipstick to look more lively.
"Hello, Ms. Spencer."
Seeing the familiar faces on the screen, Diana felt a bit more at ease.
It had been a while since they had seen Diana, and everyone had different expressions.
Diana first asked about the current situation of the company. Last time, Coralie only mentioned Lily being bullied by Clara, and she wasn't aware of other matters.
"According to what you said before, Ms. Spencer, we didn't tolerate it. But they are used to getting more resources, and once we don't help or give, they'll complain to Ms. Williams." Jessa's tone was indignant, wishing she could beat up Axel and his group to vent her anger.
Calliope nodded, knowing Lily hadn't left. But to stir up everyone's anger and unite them, she still spoke up, "Lily was pretty good. She got fired by Ms. Williams for speaking up for me. Since then, their group has become even more excessive, trying to bully us."
For a moment, everyone chimed in.
Diana raised an eyebrow. "So, did you give in?"
"Of course not, but they have more people, and our group only has a few."
"No worries. If we don't have enough people, let Coralie hire more. Calliope, you handle it. Just keep pushing back against them, don't be scared. I'll have your back when I get back to the company." Diana's tone was casual. Once she was discharged, the Williams Family would really have something to worry about.
On the screen, everyone looked conflicted, unsure if they should follow Diana's lead.
They knew Diana was reliable, but this kind of internal conflict made them uneasy.
Diana sensed their hesitation but didn't bother explaining. Now that she had a contract with the Percy Group, the entire Spencer Group was under her control. No matter what the employees did, she could cover for them.
"I've said enough. How you act is up to you. Just remember, I've got your back." Diana left it at that, letting them figure out the rest.
Even if they didn't follow her instructions, it was fine. Diana just wanted to make life difficult for the Williams Family.
The more chaotic things were, the better Diana felt.
The meeting ended quickly as usual. As a few people left the conference room, they were still mulling over Diana's words.
Clara's group saw them come out so quickly and mocked, "Some people never show up to work, manage their employees poorly, and still become the boss."
Jessa clenched her fist, ready to argue, but Calliope held her back.
Calliope smiled sweetly, "Yeah, but some people are even stranger, earning so little and still worrying about the boss's matters."
The person's face turned pale, pointing at Calliope but unable to say anything.
Calliope rolled her eyes and walked past him. "Don't get in the way. You may be idle, but we still have work to do."
"You! How dare you talk to me like that? Aren't you afraid I'll tell Ms. Williams?" The person lowered his voice, full of threats.
This time, no one from Diana's group answered him. Instead, as they passed by, each one bumped into his shoulder solidly. "Sorry, didn't see you."
The person was left dizzy from the bumps, and when he turned around to argue, he found everyone back at their desks, typing away, looking unapproachable.
This made him extremely angry!
In Clara's office, Axel was reporting work. He looked up at Clara's serious expression and mentioned the recent event. "Ms. Williams, Diana's group just had a meeting."
Clara's expression tightened. "A meeting? Did Diana come to the company?"
"No, they had a remote meeting. Afterward, they argued with our group members." Axel was tattling behind their backs.
He, like the others, just wanted to quickly get rid of Diana's group and have all the Percy Group's investments go to their group.
But his words caused a storm in Clara's heart. 'How could it be? How could Diana still appear?'
Since Clara told Charles about Diana's abortion, no one from the Percy Group had contacted her, and Diana hadn't appeared.
Clara even speculated that Charles, in a fit of anger, might have killed Diana.
But now, Diana not only appeared but also held a meeting with their group.
This meant Diana was fine and still had power in the Spencer Group.
Clara's eyes suddenly widened as if she remembered something, and she stood up from her office chair.
"Ms. Williams? What's wrong?" Axel saw her expression change and couldn't help but ask.
The next second, Clara suppressed her chaotic emotions and said in a low voice, "You can leave now. I have something to deal with."
