Chapter 430 Arrangement
Charles' voice had a hint of impatience.
Diana, intrigued but puzzled, asked, "Sign what?"
Her initial wariness faded as she stepped forward to the desk, curious about the stack of documents.
Just as she reached out to pick up the papers, Charles placed a hand on them, his expression serious.
"You've been here a while. You get that this job is... unique, right?"
Diana was confused, not understanding why he was bringing this up out of nowhere.
She withdrew her hand and frowned. "Mr. Percy, I don't get what you mean."
Charles raised an eyebrow and casually flipped through the documents before tapping the desk.
"The Percy family isn't just any family. I expect you to keep everything here confidential."
"A confidentiality agreement?" Diana's voice rose as she caught the key phrase.
So, he meant she could really leave, but she had to sign a confidentiality agreement?
The surprise was so sudden that Diana didn't know how to react. She just stood there, dumbfounded, and asked, "Does this mean I can leave?"
Charles paused for a moment, then nodded as he looked at her face.
"Yes, my injury has healed enough. As per our agreement, you can leave. You just need to sign this agreement."
"You mean, I can leave now? You're letting me go?"
Diana asked again, even pinching her arm to make sure she wasn't dreaming.
Feeling the pain, she showed a surprised expression.
Charles frowned and pulled the documents back. "You don't want to leave? That's fine. The Percy family can afford to keep you."
In the next second, Diana quickly lunged forward, her upper body sprawled across the desk as she grabbed the edges of the documents.
She looked up with a pleading smile. "Of course, I want to leave. Who wants to work forever?"
Charles looked down at her, finding it amusing.
He applied a bit of pressure with his hand and said mockingly, "I thought Ms. Wipere would be reluctant to leave me."
"Of course, Mr. Percy is the most generous and kind boss I've ever met. I'll definitely miss you when I'm gone!"
Diana said, flattering him while struggling for the documents, her tone somewhat sycophantic.
Charles seemed to enjoy such words. He smirked slightly and released the documents, leaning in to whisper in her ear, "I'll miss you too."
The warm breath tickled her ear, but Diana's attention was elsewhere. She straightened up, scratched her ear, and began to read the documents.
She was shocked by what she saw. She had wondered why a confidentiality agreement would be so thick.
Upon closer inspection, she realized the first page was an addendum, detailing their previous agreement.
It covered everything from salary to working hours and job responsibilities, spanning several pages.
Diana flipped through a couple of pages and then looked up. "Mr. Percy, why do I need to sign this?"
Charles remained calm, tapping his fingers on the desk nonchalantly.
"It's thorough. Every detail is clearly written. The money comes from the company, so it's like hiring you as my personal assistant. Other things like insurance also need to be settled."
"Insurance?"
Diana was surprised and looked closely, finding it was true.
When did Charles become such a good boss?
Wasn't he always the epitome of an evil capitalist?
And he was wealthy himself, so why go through the company's accounts?
Too many questions swirled in Diana's mind. Charles continued, "I have work to handle soon. Hurry up."
"Okay." Urged by him, Diana sped up, signing the work contract before moving on.
But the further she went, the stranger the contract became.
It detailed everything she had eaten, used, or damaged at the Percy Mansion, listing it all meticulously.
Although it was deducted from her salary and she didn't need to pay extra, why write it all down?
One moment she thought he had changed, the next he showed his true colors again.
He was a complete slave driver! A miser!
Diana cursed him in her mind but still signed the papers.
She didn't care about the money. If he wanted it, he could have it.
"Hurry up, you have five minutes."
Charles urged again.
Diana, already annoyed by the document's content and his urging, signed without looking up. "Got it."
As she continued, the documents included employee rules and various formal agreements. Diana felt a surge of frustration.
She didn't know how many times she signed her name before Charles impatiently clicked his tongue and took the documents back.
"Dragging your feet. If you don't want to leave, just say so."
"No, I'm almost done! It's not my fault there are so many contracts!"
Diana's eyes reddened with urgency. She almost signed her real name several times but stopped in time.
Now, with just one step left, how could Charles back out?
She reached for the documents again.
Charles' lips tightened, his expression displeased. "I'll give you twenty more seconds."
He placed the documents back and raised his wrist, watching the seconds tick by. "20, 19..."
As soon as he started counting, Diana quickly flipped through the documents, finding the last page to sign.
Her heart pounded, and her hand trembled as she signed.
She hurriedly flipped to each page that needed her signature, leaving her name.
Finally, in the last second, she finished signing everything.
She let out a long breath, a thin layer of sweat on her forehead.
"All done, Mr. Percy. Can I leave now?"
Charles' attitude turned casual. He didn't even check her signatures, just tossed the documents into a drawer.
"Yes, the money will be transferred to you."
"Okay."
After the series of unexpected events, Diana felt dazed. She forgot to say goodbye and walked out awkwardly.
Behind her, Charles spoke again. "Wait."
"I have a business trip in the next two days. I don't trust Benjamin alone at home. Can you look after him? Once I'm back, you can leave."
His words brought Diana back to reality. She remembered she couldn't leave without Benjamin.
"Sure! I can do that." She agreed hastily, then asked, "Where are you going, Mr. Percy? Will you be back in two days?"
Charles opened his laptop and answered, "Celestria. If things go well, two days. If not, it might take a week."
Diana pondered his words, lost in thought.
Seeing her unresponsive, Charles looked up and frowned. "Anything else?"
Realizing her lapse, Diana quickly waved her hand. "Sorry, no more questions. I'll take good care of Benjamin until you return."
