Chapter 435 Failed Escape

Seeing how confident he was, the staff member forced a smile and picked up the stamp. "Alright, here are your tickets. Have fun."

She pressed a green stamp onto Benjamin's hand, which, upon closer inspection, was shaped like a skull.

Diana got the same stamp and quickly caught up with Benjamin as they entered the haunted house.

The two men in black exchanged glances. One of them took a step back, signaling his partner to go in.

The other man gritted his teeth and gave him a nudge before heading to the staff to get his entry stamp.

Their plan was simple: one would go inside to keep an eye on things, while the other waited at the exit.

The haunted house was crowded and chaotic, and it would be a hassle if Benjamin got lost.

After all, how scary could a regular haunted house be?

As the man in black was silently complaining, a piercing scream echoed from inside.

The sound was so sharp and high-pitched that he couldn't tell if it was a child or a woman.

But soon, another scream made it clear.

He pursed his lips, his gaze falling on the staff member at the entrance. His jaw muscles tensed visibly.

The staff member noticed his stare and quickly waved her hands, distancing herself from the situation. "This has nothing to do with me. I warned them, but they insisted on going in."

Benjamin had initially thought this haunted house would be like the ones he had visited before, with colorful lights, spooky music, and cheap plastic ghost models.

Those haunted houses were only scary to three-year-olds and not frightening at all.

But this haunted house was on a whole different level.

It was dimly lit, resembling an apartment hallway. They had to open doors one by one to find the correct exit.

Each time they opened a door, they were met with gruesome murder scenes, with real actors sitting in pools of blood, turning their heads as the door creaked open.

Other actors would then jump out from behind or the sides, scaring Diana and Benjamin out of their wits.

Benjamin, who had initially wanted to shake off the man in black, was now clinging to his legs, too terrified to let go.

The man in black were well-trained. Although he was initially startled, he quickly regained his composure through mental conditioning.

The haunted house's tricks were all similar. Ignoring Benjamin clinging to his leg, the man in black slowly moved forward.

This was the fifth door they had opened.

Good news: this was the way to the exit.

Bad news: a real actor suddenly jumped out, scaring Benjamin and Diana pale.

But in the next second, the man in black's body reacted faster than his mind, and he punched the actor.

With a cry of pain, the actor fell to the ground.

The punch had landed on his nose, and it was clear from the wetness that it was bleeding.

Actors in such haunted houses were in a high-risk job. Some guests, in their fear, would hit them, which was common.

But someone who struck so quickly and silently was rare.

The actor lay on the ground, groaning in pain.

Diana snapped out of it and hurried to help him up. "I'm sorry, are you okay?"

The actor, with a face full of blood, was about to curse but stopped when he saw the man in black approaching with a menacing look.

In the dim light, he looked scarier than the actor.

In an instant, the actor cowered, propping himself up on his elbows and retreating with a wary expression.

"You..."

"Five times the compensation, and take us out," the man in black said as he helped the actor up.

The actor, who had been ready to curse, immediately brightened up, standing straight and wiping the blood from his face, which only made him look scarier.

"Sure, you should have said so earlier. Sorry for scaring you. Follow me."

The man in black glanced back at Benjamin and Diana, signaling them to follow.

The two, who had planned to escape in the chaos, exchanged a look but said nothing, silently following.

With someone leading the way, they quickly found the exit.

The other man in black at the exit was a bit surprised to see them.

"Wait a moment, we need to handle something over there."

After the guided exit, the agreed compensation was promptly transferred.

Benjamin and Diana stood aside, relieved they had gotten out early and still had a chance.

But figuring out how to escape was still a big problem.

Like before, with one person accompanying them inside and the other waiting at the exit, there was no chance.

A sharp scream came from behind, accompanied by the roar of a roller coaster, gradually fading away.

Diana glanced at the roller coaster entrance sign and suddenly had an idea.

She grabbed Benjamin's hand and said, "Let's go ride the roller coaster."

Benjamin blinked, the screams from earlier still ringing in his ears. Such a thrilling ride didn't seem suitable for him.

But seeing Diana's determined expression, Benjamin pursed his lips and held her hand tighter. "Okay."

So, when the two men in black returned, they saw Benjamin and Diana, who had been pale with fear earlier, now running confidently towards the roller coaster.

As the most thrilling ride in the amusement park, the line was long.

The four of them took the fast pass lane but still waited for over ten minutes.

Diana counted the number of people allowed on each ride and felt confident when it was their turn.

She smiled at the men in black and asked cheerfully, "Are you coming up with us?"

The man in black stared ahead, his voice firm. "Of course."

They had undergone professional training, and this level of roller coaster was nothing.

Diana nodded and said no more.

However, when it was their turn, the staff managing the line stopped the two men in black.

"Sorry, gentlemen, this ride is full. Please wait for the next one."

So, the two men watched as Diana and Benjamin got on the roller coaster, even waving enthusiastically at them.

Since they weren't there to play, they said, "Let us in. We won't ride, just watch them finish."

The staff smiled politely but refused. "Sorry, for the safety of our guests, you can't wait here. If you're not riding, please go to the exit. Just follow these two paths to the left."

The men in black glanced at Diana and Benjamin, who were waiting for the safety check.

They seemed fine.

"Alright, let's go wait over there."

There were too many people here, and even getting out took time.

The two moved quickly, avoiding the crowd and jumping over low fences.

"Welcome to the Dream Train. The ride is about to start. Are you ready? 3! 2!"

"Wait!"
