Chapter 415 Provocation

"I don't want to see you because whatever was between us is over. You did something wrong and you've been punished for it. Please don't bother me anymore; there's nothing left to say between us."

Most importantly, Diana had no intention of pretending to forgive Stella. If she had reacted in time back then, given her personality, she would have dragged Stella down with her into the water.

Stella's apology felt forced, like Charles had pressured her into it.

"No, I'm really sorry. I know I screwed up and I've paid for it. If you don't forgive me, my life is over. I'm begging you, please forgive me."

With that, Stella dropped to her knees.

Diana jumped off the bed and ran to the door, yelling, "Can't you understand plain English? Why are you dragging me into your mess? I've been the victim here. Did I make you pay the price? You should be begging Mr. Percy, not me."

She glared at Charles, her brows furrowed. "Mr. Percy, I don't care about your problems. Our deal is just about taking care of you. Don't use me as a pawn in your games again."

"You don't care?"

Charles, who had been sitting on the bed, stood up. He slowly wiped his hands with a wet tissue, his expression icy cold.

Stella shivered; this was scarier than their conversation outside the hospital room.

If he had been indifferent before, Charles was definitely angry now.

But why was he so mad? Just because she didn't care?

"Yeah, I've made myself clear. Need me to repeat it?"

Diana stared back at him, unafraid.

If she didn't handle this now, there'd be countless other women coming after her in the future. Who could put up with that?

The room fell silent, only their breathing filling the space.

Charles' face was ashen, ready to explode.

Diana's hand reached behind her, gripping the door handle, ready to bolt if he did anything rash.

"Mr. Percy, the discharge papers are ready."

A strong male voice came from behind, pushing the door open so hard that Diana stumbled forward, her head colliding with Charles' chest.

Diana's face stiffened, her hands gripping his shoulders to steady herself.

"Sorry, you saw it yourself, it wasn't intentional."

Her apology was even less sincere than Stella's.

What the hell was this? They had just argued, and now she was falling into his arms. He'd definitely think she was throwing herself at him.

At the door, Nolan, the culprit, looked at the three people in the room, briefly showing a shocked expression.

He quickly closed the door and stepped aside.

"Mr. Percy, the discharge papers are ready. Is there anything else you need?"

Charles grabbed Diana's wrists, preventing her from leaving. His lips pressed into a thin line, and after a moment, he spoke.

"Nothing else, let's go home."

He glanced at the struggling Diana and lowered his voice, "Since you don't want to deal with my issues, let her fend for herself. This is the price she has to pay."

Diana had been wrestling with Charles, but his words made her look at the kneeling Stella.

Stella's face was full of fear, listening to her former lover sentence her to "life without parole."

If she was going to end up like this, why did he save her in the first place?

If the White Group had gone bankrupt earlier, she would have been used to this life, at least preserving her dignity.

Now, her home, her career, everything was about to be destroyed.

Even kneeling and apologizing was useless. What more could she do?

Stella bit her lower lip, trying to stop her chin from trembling, tears streaming silently from her eyes.

"Are you crazy? She's been with you for so long, and you're not even going to compensate her for her lost youth?"

Diana suddenly spoke, breaking the stalemate.

She didn't particularly like Stella, but Stella was younger than her and seemed to have been deceived by Charles.

A young woman, not yet guilty of a major crime, why push her to the brink?

"What do you mean? Didn't you say you didn't want to get involved? What are you doing now? Interfering in my life."

Charles sneered, tightening his grip on her hand.

Diana gasped and retorted, "Who's interfering? I'm just speaking the truth. She's spent her best years with you, an old man. You're so rich, what's wrong with giving her some compensation for her lost youth? Are you really that stingy?"

Though it was clearly a provocation, the room fell silent because of her boldness.

Especially Stella, whose mind was in turmoil.

Was this the new replacement Charles had found?

How did she survive by talking like this?

Or maybe men were just masochists, preferring those who challenged them over those who were gentle and caring.

The next second, Charles grabbed Diana's chin, his tone icy, "Stingy? No one's ever called me that. What benefit do I get from letting her go?"

Diana, completely controlled, frowned and tried to free her face from his grip. She shook her head and finally found an opportunity, biting his hand just hard enough to make him let go.

Once he released her, Diana retorted, "What benefit do you get from not letting her go? Aren't you tired of tormenting others every day? It's easy to become a psychopath."

Something she said must have struck a nerve because Charles suddenly laughed, though it sounded more like he was driven mad than amused.

Even Diana fell silent.

When he finished laughing and composed himself, he looked at Nolan.

"Since Ms. Wipere insists, let's stick to the original contract."

Nolan snapped out of it, nodding respectfully, "Yes."

Stella heard the result, her hands clenched into fists, nails digging into her skin, leaving red marks.

The pain made her realize this wasn't a dream.

Her desperate pleas were less effective than this woman's casual words.

Even though she helped her, overwhelming hatred and jealousy filled her heart.

Why? What made her inferior to this woman?

"Ms. White, get up. Give me the contract, and if there are any issues, talk to me."

Nolan stepped forward to help Stella up, while Charles dragged Diana out.

As they passed each other, Diana didn't notice Stella's dark gaze.
