Chapter 49 Diana's Plan
Before anyone could react, Diana jumped in, "I know Saskia blames me. I was dumb before, handing over the company like that. But now, I swear, I'm gonna protect my mom's business and never let the Williams family take it away."
Saskia was floored by Diana's words. Diana wasn't bowing down to Nathan anymore. The old Diana always craved fatherly love. So after Bianca passed away, she tried to please Nathan by accepting Mia and Clara and always being obedient.
But today, Diana drew a clear line between her and Nathan. Hope flickered in Saskia's eyes. She wondered, 'Could it be that Diana, so-called useless person, has really woken up?'
Diana raised two fingers and continued, "Secondly, I brought everyone back not just because I'm new to the company. Right now, besides me, Clara's also in charge. She uses Nathan's name to get all the newcomers on her side, making it tough for my plans to move forward."
Faye caught the key point and, looking puzzled, asked, "Why is Clara still there if you're already running the company?"
Diana was ready for this question and explained, "Saskia was right. The Spencer Group was about to go bankrupt before. My ex-husband sabotaged it, and I bought the company back. But he has more shares than I do, so Clara manages the company for him."
Henry couldn't help but slam the table and curse, "Is your ex-husband even human? Controlling your company and helping Clara? Do they have some kind of relationship? How shameless!"
Diana agreed with Henry's words but couldn't explain everything now, so she told them the current situation, "Right now, Clara and I are managing the company together. We each run different teams. Whichever team makes money first and makes more money wins. It doesn't matter if she wins or loses, but if I lose, Charles will take the company back."
Everyone remembered Charles's identity, a big shot in the business world. It would be a piece of cake for him to destroy a company. They didn't expect Diana to be under such immense pressure to come to them.
Saskia's face turned red. She didn't expect Diana to have really grown up, and she had just spoken to her like that. Feeling guilty, Saskia took the initiative to apologize, "I'm sorry for what I said earlier. I misunderstood you."
Diana immediately shook her head and smiled brightly. "It's okay. I'm not that sensitive. I know you meant well, Saskia."
Seeing this, the others also made jokes to ease the awkward atmosphere between the two.
Henry patted his chest, offering, "Diana, tell us what you need us to do. I'm old now, but my mind is still sharp. Just tell me what to do, and I'll do it!"
Douglas, however, was a bit anxious. Except for Saskia, the rest of them had been retired for many years.
They were unfamiliar with the current state of the Spencer Group and were older, less flexible than the younger generation. So Douglas adjusted his glasses and asked, "Although we want to help you, Diana, we're not young anymore. Henry and Saskia can do accounting, but they're slower now. I used to be in the marketing department, but I changed my job later, so I'm not familiar with the current market. We need a lot of time to adjust. Can your plan wait?"
Diana calmly took a sip of water to moisten her throat and said with a slightly raised tone, "Who said rehiring means you have to go back to work?"
Everyone was puzzled, not quite getting what Diana meant. 'If rehiring doesn't mean going back to work, then what's the point?' they wondered.
Diana, looking confident, asked, "Saskia, do you have something that Nathan fears? And Henry?"
The two were caught off guard by Diana's sudden question, their faces showing a hint of unease.
Seeing their nervousness, Diana understood but didn't push them. She continued, "I know you're worried that I'm still helping Nathan and acting as his spy, so I won't force you to hand it over now. But I hope you can give me a chance to prove myself and help me put on a show."
As she finished speaking, the sound of soothing music filled the café, drowning them out. Diana lowered her voice and explained her plan. When she finished, everyone looked serious.
After a long silence, Saskia spoke first, "I'm willing. Since Diana has shown sincerity, I'll go all out. Consider it repaying Ms. Spencer's kindness."
Seeing this, the others exchanged glances and agreed.
Diana said, "In that case, thank you all. After it's done, I'll pay you. Consider it compensation for the harm the Spencer Group caused you before."
Henry waved his hand. "Diana, you're in a tough spot now. The company hasn't made a profit yet. Spend the money where it matters. When you make big money, treat us to a meal."
"Yeah, we didn't come for the money," Faye also advised Diana not to spend unnecessarily.
Diana was touched. These were the loyal employees Bianca had left her, willing to work without pay. But now, despite being poor, she couldn't skimp on necessary expenses.
Seeing it was getting late, Diana didn't say much more. She stood up and said, "You are my key people. Don't worry, I'm not that poor now. Let's call it a day. Rest well, and tomorrow, please report to the Spencer Group. I've arranged office space for you in advance." Everyone nodded and agreed to meet the next day.
After finishing everything, Diana stretched. Her phone beeped with a message. She opened it and saw it was from Isolde.
By the way, Isolde had been very busy recently. After returning to find her uncle David Jones and explaining the situation, David was furious. They confronted Finnian, but Finnian stubbornly denied everything. He claimed they were just kissing and it wasn't cheating. Isolde was infuriated by Finnian's shamelessness.
And unfortunately, the evidence Isolde had from the private investigator had been confiscated by Finnian's parents. All she had left was the video of them kissing. Because of this, Finnian was emboldened and insisted it wasn't cheating, just the woman kissing him.
Fortunately, Diana was reliable. Using Finnian's basic information, she found a bunch of his hotel records and videos of him with his mistress.
With the evidence laid out, Finnian turned pale and begged for forgiveness. Isolde, however, kicked him away without mercy. Finnian's apology wasn't out of remorse but fear. He knew that after the divorce, without money or power, those who he once looked down on would all come to bully him.
He cried pitifully, but after Diana's "special training", Isolde felt nothing. If he had known it would come to this, he wouldn't have acted that way in the first place.
After dealing with Finnian, Isolde went to the company to assert her authority, firing those who had been promoted by flattering Finnian. Despite being busy, Isolde didn't forget to send things to Cecil. There were so many packages that Diana thought Cecil would end up staying at her place.
