Chapter 37 The Preliminary Inspection

The phone on the table buzzed, and Diana saw a Facebook message.

Coralie: [Hey, I'm Coralie from HR at the Spencer Group. Nolan asked me to add you.]

Diana remembered seeing Coralie's name on the list she just reviewed, so she pulled out her file. 'She's been with the company for nine years. Not bad, quite a veteran,' Diana thought.

She sent Coralie a friend request, and Coralie promptly messaged her.

Coralie: [Hi, I'm Coralie from HR. We're honored to have you managing the company. How should we address you?]

Diana squinted at the screen. On the other end, Coralie was a bit nervous. She had wanted to ask Nolan for more details, but he was too busy and just gave her Diana and Clara's contact info.

Nolan: [They're both general managers or directors. Call them whatever you like.] And then he stopped replying.

Coralie was surprised there were two people, but since the Percy Group was taking over, it was a good thing. So she quickly added Diana and Clara.

Diana promptly accepted. Each person online used a nickname, and since Coralie was unfamiliar with the other individual, she inquired.

Diana paused briefly before responding: [I'm Remy Wipere. Looks like we're all on the same team now.No need to be so uptight.]

Diana didn't use her real name. If someone wanted to find out, they could easily do so.

Coralie felt relieved seeing Diana being so approachable.

Coralie: [Okay, Ms. Wipere. I've already arranged your office. Since you're new, you might not be familiar with the company. Do you need an assistant?]

Diana didn't expect that, but suddenly she had a good idea.

Diana: [No need. Even though I have a position, I'm currently on a business trip for the Percy Group and can't be there in person. I'll send my assistant over first.]

Coralie didn't find it strange; some leaders managed the company remotely.

Coralie: [Okay, can you give me your assistant's contact info? I'll prepare the office.]

Diana: [No need, just treat her like an ordinary intern. I treat all my employees equally.]

Upon Diana's words, Coralie quickly grasped that the new manager was testing her, so she immediately showed her loyalty.

Coralie: [Got it, I'll arrange it.]

Diana trusted Coralie due to her non-critical role in the company. Coralie's lengthy nine-year tenure suggested a depth beyond simplicity. The upcoming reveal would determine her loyalty to either the company or her internal group.

Diana created another Facebook account and shared it to Coralie.

Diana: [This is the assistant's account. Contact this account if you need anything.]

Coralie: [Okay.]

After wrapping things up, Diana accepted Coralie's friend request on the another account. They exchanged a few polite messages and then ended the conversation.

On Clara's side, Clara didn't accept Coralie's friend request until the evening. Coralie then copied and pasted the same opening line.

Clara: [I'm Clara Williams, you should know who I am. Mr. Percy sent me to manage the company. Just follow my instructions and do as I say.]

Coralie felt a bit nervous, remembering Clara's reputation. This one was even more untouchable.

Coralie: [Okay, Ms. Williams, we understand.]

Clara: [I know, besides me, there's another person coming. No matter who she is, remember used to run this place. Got it? My orders are Mr. Percy's orders.]

With the Percy Group backing her, Clara naturally felt confident. Plus, the company was previously managed by Nathan, so now she felt she deserved to run it.

As for Diana, Clara thought, 'That woman has no business sense and has never worked a day in her life. Does she think the workplace is as easy as school? Ridiculous.'

Seeing Coralie reply with an okay, Clara stopped talking.

Coralie, having received messages from both, immediately went to the work group to inform other colleagues. However, She didn't mention Diana sending an assistant, just that Remy Wipere was mysterious and on a business trip, with an intern assigned to handle some work matters for her.As for the other manager, Coralie gave a grand introduction.

Coralie: [The other one is Mr. Williams' daughter, Clara. Everyone should watch your mouth in the company. She represents the Percy Group. Do more work and talk less.]

Everyone agreed, but their thoughts varied. Some people looked down on Clara because when Nathan was in charge, he didn't contribute to the company and even got rid of the old employees, leaving a bankrupt company behind. So these people didn't have a good impression of Clara.

However, another group had a different idea. The Spencer Group was on the verge of bankruptcy recently, but suddenly it was revived. The Percy Group even sent Clara to manage the company. Wasn't this Charles spending a lot of money for the woman he liked? It was quite a spectacle.

Axel shared similar sentiments as he stared at his phone screen, his smile full of determination. "Ms. Williams? I better serve her well."

Coralie's words were brief. Everyone in the group started discussing enthusiastically. Most hoped Clara would be an easy-going boss. Few mentioned Diana, the manager who hadn't arrived yet.

On Monday, Diana got up early; it was her first day reporting to work. It was quite novel for her. She used to be a hacker and had never worked so formally. Today was her first experience.

Diana casually wore a pullover hoodie and jeans, looking fresh and comfortable. "Do I look like an intern in this outfit?" Diana went downstairs and spun around in front of Robert and Evelyn.

Evelyn didn't know what an intern was, but she knew how to compliment Diana.

Robert, however, gave a good suggestion, "The interns at my law office, the young girls, like to tie their hair up. It's convenient for work."

Diana thought it made sense and grabbed a hair tie from Evelyn to tie her hair up.

Robert nodded approvingly. "Yes, just like that. It looks youthful and energetic. Do you need me to drive you to work?"

Diana shook her head, picked up the backpack on the sofa, and said goodbye to them, "No need, I'll take a cab. My current identity is an intern. I'm off! Don't miss me too much."

Robert was speechless, unsure if he should tell her. Ordinary interns wouldn't take a cab every day.
