Chapter 142 Seeking Help

Charles stopped in his tracks, his face darkening.

He suddenly remembered that day when Diana dropped the bombshell that the baby she was carrying was Billy's.

And before that, Diana had confessed that Billy was her boyfriend.

Charles' voice turned icy, his brows knitting together. "Who let them meet? What am I paying those people for?"

Nolan pursed his lips and reminded him, "Mr. Percy, you allowed visitors for Ms. Spencer as long as they registered. So, technically, they can meet."

"Do you really need to remind me?" Charles' eyes were so dark that Nolan flinched. Realizing his mistake, Nolan quickly added, "They didn't meet. Dr. Ramos stopped him."

Charles' expression softened a bit, and he went back to flipping through the documents in his hand. "If he shows up at the hospital again, have him thrown out."

Nolan scratched his head. "What if Ms. Spencer wants to see him after she's discharged? Dr. Ramos said she really wants to meet Mr. Richardson."

Charles didn't respond, but his grip on the document tightened, his knuckles turning white.

After a moment, he glared at Nolan and said, "Get out."

Nolan's jaw tightened. He didn't know what he had said to anger Charles, but it was best to leave now.

After Nolan left, Charles tossed the document onto the table, his face showing clear irritation.

Diana, even while pregnant, couldn't remain settled. It seemed he had indeed been too indulgent with her!

The phone on the table suddenly vibrated, interrupting Charles' thoughts.

He glanced at the screen, a bit surprised.

The next second, Charles answered the call, his voice indifferent. "Hello, Mr. Richardson, what brings you to call so late?"

On the other end, Vance was clearly surprised that Charles had answered, given that the Richardson Group and the Percy Group were at odds now.

Thinking of this, Vance softened his tone, trying to sound more friendly. "Mr. Percy, I'm a straightforward guy, so I'll get right to the point."

Charles toyed with the pen on his desk and let out a slight, cold laugh, indicating that he was listening.

Vance sighed in relief and continued, "I haven't been managing the family business for a while, and I recently found out that Billy has been opposing the Percy Group. Fortunately, Mr. Percy, you haven't held it against him."

Charles paused and said coldly, "If you're here to plead for your son, Mr. Richardson, save it. He did something he shouldn't have, and I won't go easy on him. It's a father's job to teach his kid, Mr. Richardson, you should get that."

As a soldier and a father, Vance naturally felt offended by this remark. But reason held back his anger, and he could only laugh apologetically. "No, Mr. Percy, I wish I could break his legs. How could I plead for him? I just hope you won't let him off and will punish him. That way, he might come to his senses and agree to the marriage we've arranged for him."

Hearing this, Charles raised an eyebrow. 'Is Vance nuts? Targeting his own kid like this?'

Charles had grown up with his mother, and after her death, he was raised by Juniper. To him, the role of a father had little presence in his life.

But someone like Vance, who teamed up with others to suppress his own son, was rare.

However, businessmen were profit-driven. Since Vance had spoken, there was no reason to refuse, especially since he had long disliked Billy. "Then I won't hold back, Mr. Richardson. Of course, the Percy Group will also show some restraint out of respect for you."

"Mr. Percy, I was just kidding!" Vance hadn't expected Charles to take him so seriously.

His point was to get Billy to settle down and marry, not to stir up trouble for the Richardson Family.

"Mr. Percy, let me be straight with you. I know Billy has feelings for Diana. He's young and impulsive, and he even tried to take your woman. His mother died early, and I, as his father, didn't guide him properly. That's why we're in this mess now."

Charles listened, his expression cold. "Mr. Richardson, cut the crap. I'll say it one last time: if Billy keeps messing with my woman, I'll make the entire Richardson Group pay."

"No, Mr. Percy, hear me out. You put pressure on him at the company, and I'll set him up on blind dates at home. Together, we can make this work." Vance's face wrinkled. He had never been so humble in his life. "Mr. Percy, please help me."

As soon as he finished speaking, there was a long silence on the other end of the line.

The ticking of the clock on the wall was particularly noticeable in the empty study.

Just when Vance thought Charles wouldn't respond, Charles suddenly spoke, "Mr. Richardson, then let's have a pleasant cooperation."

Vance's eyes lit up, and he repeatedly said, "Good! Mr. Percy, thank you very much."

Charles lowered his eyes, not wanting to hear Vance's pleasantries any longer, and raised his hand to end the call.

These days, the Richardson Group had been causing trouble for the Percy Group.

The conflict between the two companies had provided entertainment for other competitors. No one knew that it was all because of a woman.

Charles suddenly smirked and dialed Nolan's number.

Nolan had just left the CEO's office and was still nervous about his earlier mistake.

Hearing his phone ring, he was so startled he almost dropped it. "Mr. Percy, what are your orders?"

"Continue to pressure the Richardson Group. We don't need to win, but make them admit defeat," Charles said before decisively hanging up.

Nolan bit his lip, furrowing his brow, pondering for a while before he suddenly understood.

He realized that Charles wanted to use minimal force to cause maximum damage.

Although it was challenging, the Percy Group had crushed countless companies before. Nolan calmly added this task to his to-do list and confidently returned to his desk.

But the next second, a voice called out to him.

Claire's voice carried a hint of reproach. "Nolan? Did you forget about me?"

Nolan turned around and remembered that today was Claire's first day at work.

He had completely forgotten about it while reporting to Charles and had no idea how long Claire had been waiting.

"Sorry, Ms. Murphy, that was my oversight." Nolan lowered his head, expressing his apology. After all, Claire knew Charles, and if he neglected her and Charles got angry, he couldn't bear the consequences.
