Chapter 437 Exposed
Half an hour later, the man in black, who had checked the surveillance at the exit and found nothing, finally remembered his partner.
But his partner's phone was also unreachable.
Luckily, they had a locator between them. Following the red dot on the locator, he found his partner in a corner of the underground parking garage.
Seeing his partner unconscious and a crushed syringe on the ground nearby, his face changed, and he immediately notified their superiors.
In the taxi, Diana and Benjamin were both silent.
Having just escaped surveillance, they both felt a sense of unreality.
Afraid that it was all a dream and they would wake up back in that house.
The driver was a friendly local. Seeing the two dressed well and looking attractive, he couldn't help but start a conversation.
"Are you two heading to the airport to pick someone up?"
They didn't have any luggage, not looking like they were going on a trip.
Benjamin was about to deny it when Diana stopped him. She smiled and replied, "Yeah, please drive faster. The plane's about to land."
After she spoke, the driver didn't seem to want to stop talking. He continued, "Are you picking up your husband? And bringing the kid along?"
Diana gritted her teeth secretly, thinking the driver was too talkative, and closed her eyes to pretend to sleep.
Benjamin glanced at her, afraid he would be the next target of the driver's questions, and quickly followed suit, pretending to sleep.
Realizing they didn't want to talk, the driver chuckled, shook his head, and stopped bothering them, stepping on the gas to get them to their destination.
As soon as the car stopped, the two who had been pretending to sleep immediately opened their eyes.
Diana pulled out a bill and handed it to the driver. "Keep the change."
She then hurriedly pulled Benjamin out of the car.
Inside the airport, they both relaxed a bit.
The bustling crowd in the hall paid no attention to them.
Diana took out their documents from her bag and said, "Let's get our tickets first. The plane leaves in an hour."
Benjamin nodded and followed her obediently.
Due to their sudden return, Dean didn't have time to arrange a private jet, so they had to buy regular tickets.
Diana got the tickets and led Benjamin to the waiting area.
In the conference room.
With his phone vibrating in his pocket, Nolan apologized, "Sorry, Mr. Percy."
Normally, he would silence his phone during meetings with Charles, but today he had forgotten.
Charles didn't react much. He sat lazily on the sofa, legs crossed, casually waving a document in his right hand as if fanning himself.
Nolan took out his phone, ready to turn it off, but the call came again.
He hung up and saw that the caller had sent over ten messages. Seeing no reply, they kept calling.
'Is the house on fire? Why so urgent?' he thought.
Noticing Nolan's change in expression, Charles lowered his eyelashes and said, "If you have an urgent matter, take the call."
Nolan didn't hide anymore. He apologized and walked to the door to answer the call.
"Hello? What's the matter?"
The voice on the other end got straight to the point, "Nolan, Ms. Wipere and Benjamin are missing."
"What?!"
Nolan raised his voice, then covered his mouth, lowering his tone, "What do you mean they're missing?"
"What happened? We just left! You can't even keep an eye on them? Do you want to get yourself killed?"
"You had just left when Benjamin said he wanted to go to the amusement park. Ms. Wipere went with him, but after a roller coaster ride, they disappeared. We searched everywhere and couldn't find them. My partner was even knocked out with a sedative in the underground parking garage."
The man in black was also very frustrated. Who knew this would happen? Previously, there were no issues when they went out.
But today, Charles had just left for a business trip, and they ran away.
This was premeditated, wasn't it?
Yes! Premeditated!
The man in black's mind clicked, excitedly saying, "I think this was planned long ago, Nolan. They had been planning to leave and acted today. I've already asked for the parking garage surveillance. We'll soon know their whereabouts."
Their mission had a major failure, and now they had to quickly remedy it and bring them back.
That woman leaving was one thing, but why take Benjamin? This could get them killed!
"Find them quickly! If you can't, you know the consequences!"
Nolan's voice was urgent and angry. He hung up the phone.
The man in black shivered, quickly making a cross on his chest, praying for God's protection.
With such a big issue, Nolan couldn't hide it from Charles.
But looking at his boss, seemingly in a good mood, Nolan's heart sank.
Telling Charles now was like asking for death.
But professional duty pushed Nolan to walk towards Charles.
"Mr. Percy, there's been a problem."
Charles stopped flipping through the document and glanced at him,
"What is it? Speak."
Nolan swallowed, mustering courage, "Ms. Wipere seems to have taken Benjamin and run away."
"Run away?"
Charles raised his eyebrows, surprised.
Though surprised, his reaction was too calm, even less than when he found out Elise took Benjamin.
Nolan found it odd but continued, "Yes, she seemed prepared. Our men are already investigating and should have results soon. Mr. Percy, should we return home now or continue as planned?"
Charles didn't answer but suddenly stood up, looking out the window.
The clear sky and white clouds outside the floor-to-ceiling window made him feel better.
But now, the person who promised to wait for him had suddenly run away, making him a bit annoyed.
As Nolan tried to guess his thoughts from his back, Charles finally spoke, unrelated to the escape.
"Nolan, draft an agreement for me."
Nolan was puzzled but respectfully asked, "Sure, I'll notify the legal department. What kind of agreement?"
"A marriage agreement."
"What?"
Nolan's expression couldn't be described as just surprised. He pursed his lips, furrowed his brows, really wanting to check if his boss had a fever.
Otherwise, why was Charles talking nonsense?
"Mr. Percy, who are you marrying?"
Charles turned, as if discussing something mundane.
"Diana, of course. Who else?"
Nolan's mouth twitched. Now he was sure his boss had gone mad and needed a psychologist.
"Mr. Percy, I'll contact Dr. Garcia right away."
Saying this, Nolan took out his phone, looking serious.
Forget about the two who ran away. The biggest issue now was the person in front of him.
