Chapter 72 First Love

Billy was naturally delighted—what a stroke of luck! He had always liked Diana, and, as it happened, he was quite wealthy and more than willing to lavish his affections on the woman he adored. So, he quickly accepted the fact that Diana was divorced.

Billy really wanted to meet Diana, but he was worried she might think it was weird if he called her out of the blue.

He couldn't just hang around at the Spencer Villa. The only link they had since their last meeting was this afternoon. Billy's assistant found out Diana was live streaming and told him. So, all afternoon, Billy was hyped, throwing money and sending gifts her way.

But, Diana didn't really react to his actions. Instead, someone from the Spencer Group hit him up privately, offering to send him a big snack package. When Billy saw the message, he was so mad he nearly threw his phone across the room. 'Who wants snacks? I want to date Diana!' he thought to himself.

Just then, a buddy dropped by his office. Seeing Billy down, the friend invited him to a small get-together at Spice Haven Bistro that evening. Unexpectedly, he bumped into Diana there.

Billy had walked into the wrong private room, and the waiter at the door was MIA, so it made their meeting possible.

As he pushed open the door and saw Diana, all of Billy's recent worries disappeared, and he said with excitement, "Diana, are you here for dinner too? With friends? I watched your live stream this afternoon; it was awesome. You're amazing, Diana!" He kept talking, leaving Diana momentarily at a loss for how to respond.

Seeing that Diana didn't reject him outright, Isolde waved her hand warmly. "Are you Diana's friend? Come join us for dinner. We just ordered, and the food will be here soon."

Diana shot Isolde a glare, her eyes saying, "Why are you making decisions for me?"

Billy noticed Diana's hesitation and felt a bit bummed. Just then, a waiter chimed in from behind, "Sir, is there a problem? The dishes are ready." With that, Billy found himself gently ushered into the private room.

Isolde saw his awkward stance and motioned for him to sit next to Diana. She casually grabbed a set of utensils, handed them to Billy, and smiled. "Hi, I'm Isolde Porter, a good friend of Diana's."

Billy nodded. "Hi, I'm Billy Richardson."

Isolde's expression shifted slightly at the name, and she wondered, 'Isn't that the name of the Richardson family heir? Could it really be such a coincidence?'

"Um, is your dad Vance Richardson?" Isolde asked cautiously. Seeing Billy nod, she took a sip of water, her expression uneasy. "Haha, the Richardson Family, huh?"

But under the table, she couldn't help but playfully pinch Diana, thinking, 'Good job, Diana. Hiding such a wealthy guy from us, huh?'

Diana almost yelped from the pinch but managed to hold it in. Instead, considering what Billy had said about her live stream that afternoon, she asked, "Were you the one sending gifts during the live stream this afternoon?"

Seeing Billy nod, Diana smiled politely and continued, "Thank you, you're very generous. I'll convert the gift money into cash and return it to you later."

Billy panicked at the thought of her returning the money. "No, no need. I'm happy to spend it on you, and besides, that amount is nothing to me."

Isolde's expression was teasing, and her smile was very suggestive. She said to Diana, "Looks like Mr. Richardson is willing to spend money on you."

Diana's face stayed cool as she took a sip of water. She said calmly, "No, that's the company's account. It all goes on the company books, no matter how much you spend."

Billy felt a bit awkward, suddenly remembering that the account was the Spencer Group's. He pulled out his phone and said earnestly, "Then I'll transfer it to you now, or you can give me your account, and I'll have my assistant handle it."

Diana didn't expect him to be so direct and raised a hand, hesitating to speak. Isolde burst into laughter, catching their attention. After laughing for a bit, she asked, "Mr. Richardson, do you like Diana?"

Initially, Isolde was a bit wary of the Richardson Family, fearing Billy might be as cunning as Charles. But now, after meeting him, she realized Billy was pretty straightforward.

Billy's ears turned red at the question, his eyes darting around, wanting to look at Diana but not daring to. But he still answered firmly, "Yes, I like Diana. I've liked her for a long time." He paused, took a deep breath, and looked Diana in the eyes. "Diana, I like you. I don't expect you to answer me right away, but I hope you'll give me a chance to pursue you."

Diana's expression shifted slightly, not expecting Billy to be so upfront. She replied, "I just got divorced."

Billy didn't even flinch. Ever since he found out, he only felt heartache. Diana was such a wonderful person, and Charles didn't appreciate her. If Charles didn't know how to cherish her, Billy would. He wouldn't back down again.

So Billy answered in a deep voice, "I know, I don't mind. So what if you've been divorced? It's not like you committed a crime.. Actually, even if you had, I could accept that." His voice grew quieter with the last sentence, almost inaudible. But Diana and Isolde heard it clearly. It was a love without conditions, without reservations.

Diana knew she was beautiful, but she'd never thought anyone would be crazy enough to like her this much.

Isolde wasn't naive. A man who suddenly appeared, didn't care about a woman's background or her marital history, and freely declared his love—he sounded a bit like a con artist. But what could Diana offer? Was he attracted by her recent divorce? Her modest amount of money? Or maybe her shares? After thinking it over, the only thing Diana really had going for her was her looks.

"Are you sure he's from the Richardson Family?" Isolde whispered in Diana's ear.

Diana nodded confidently. The Richardson family's butler and servants wouldn't lie. No wonder Isolde was skeptical. If Diana hadn't attended that party, she might have doubted Billy's authenticity too.

Given the situation, there was only one thing to do. Diana cleared her throat and, under Billy's expectant gaze, said coldly, "I'm pregnant."

Billy was shocked, standing up in surprise. His voice was shaky. "What? Are you pregnant? Whose is it?"

"My ex-husband's," Diana replied, watching him closely.

Isolde gave a thumbs up, impressed by how Diana managed to shatter the suitor's hopes with just a few words.

Billy looked flustered but quickly calmed down. "Are you planning to remarry him?"

Diana looked puzzled. "Why would I remarry? This is my child."

Billy relaxed and sat back down, carefully choosing his words to avoid hurting a pregnant woman's feelings. He took a deep breath and spoke seriously, "So, you're saying you're pregnant with Charles's child, you want to keep it, but you don't want to remarry him, right?"
