Chapter 459 Goodnight Kiss
Diana's head turned slightly at the sound of his voice, then she shrank back, wary. "What do you want?"
"Are you tired?"
Charles kept his eyes on the screen, trying to keep it casual.
Diana wrinkled her nose, her tone sharp. "None of your business."
"If you're not tired, come over and help me with this work."
Charles finally looked away from the screen, glancing at her curled up on the bed, and suggested.
"Why should I?"
Diana wasn't one to comply easily.
But before she could finish her retort, Charles raised an eyebrow. "You could see company secrets."
That got her attention. If it was Percy Group's secrets, she could dig up enough dirt to bring the company down.
Once Charles was broke, she could send him off to be a model for wealthy older women.
The thought of that scenario made her feel particularly satisfied. Diana quickly got up, wrapped herself in a blanket, and dragged a chair over to sit next to Charles.
They kept a bit of distance, not exactly close.
Charles didn't say anything. He pulled out a cushion from behind his back and placed it on her chair, but she refused it.
Diana pulled the blanket over her head, tucked her feet in, and sat on the chair hugging her knees.
'No elegance at all, like an egg,' Charles thought to himself.
If Diana knew what he was thinking, she would probably laugh out loud, as that was her exact intention.
Once she was settled, she urged, "You can start working now."
She stared at the computer screen without blinking, more focused than Charles.
The screen displayed a bidding document for a piece of land in the north of the city, definitely a business secret.
But Charles only looked at it for a moment before closing it and opening an acquisition plan.
Diana scanned the document quickly. Although some areas needed improvement, it was quite good.
They continued like this, one working, the other watching.
After a while, Charles suddenly closed the laptop.
Diana, who was engrossed in the documents, turned her head. "Weren't you working? Is it over already?"
Charles stood up, ruffled her hair, and said softly, "I'm not a machine. I've done enough for today. Time to sleep."
He headed to the bathroom, leaving Diana alone on the chair.
Though the work session was over, Diana couldn't help but review what she had seen.
Charles had indeed put a lot of effort into it; any piece of information could impact Percy Group significantly.
Diana pulled the blanket off, feeling more relaxed.
She lay on the bed, still thinking about the documents, not even noticing when Charles came out of the bathroom.
He was wearing a bathrobe, his hair still dripping.
Diana was lost in thought when she felt a few drops of water on her face, followed by a shadow blocking her view.
With the scent of shower gel, Charles leaned down and planted a kiss on the corner of her lips.
He had aimed for her lips, but Diana turned her head, so he missed.
"You... Who said you could kiss me without asking?"
Diana covered the corner of her mouth, her words stumbling.
Charles looked calm and said, "A goodnight kiss. It's quite common."
He turned to dry his hair, his movements smooth, making Diana seem overly dramatic.
She clutched the edge of the blanket, remembering their earlier agreement, and held back.
Fine, they've done more intimate things before, what's a goodnight kiss?
When Charles finished drying his hair and changed into pajamas, it was clear he intended to sleep in the room.
Diana wasn't surprised this time. After all, today had been full of shocks, and her emotions had reached a strange equilibrium.
The bed beside her sank for a moment, followed by the sound of rustling.
Diana turned her back to Charles, pretending not to hear anything.
With the sound of the light switch, the room fell into darkness, except for a small nightlight by the bed.
In the dark, other senses become more sensitive.
She heard breathing behind her, feeling it getting closer.
Until the warm breath made her ears itch, Diana couldn't help but shrink her neck.
"It's too hot, move away."
She protested softly, but it lacked authority, the warm breath still blowing behind her.
This time she raised her voice, "Stop breathing!"
No response.
'Is he asleep? So quickly?'
Diana grumbled inwardly, turning her head to see a pair of eyes shining in the dim light.
Diana was startled, whispering, "You scared me! Why didn't you respond when I called you?"
Charles blinked, resting a hand on his cheek, looking somewhat innocent.
He stared at Diana silently for a while, and when she saw he was ignoring her, she turned away angrily, not wanting to see his face.
As she moved, Charles suddenly grabbed her shoulder.
His voice was hoarse, "You haven't returned the favor."
"What favor?"
Diana was confused, trying to shake off his grip.
Charles pointed to his lips, "A goodnight kiss. You haven't given me one."
"How about a slap instead?"
Diana gritted her teeth, raising a hand ready to hit him.
Charles tilted his face, closing one eye as if prepared for the slap. "That works too."
Diana was infuriated by his shamelessness, hitting him would be like rewarding him.
She withdrew her hand, sneering, "Forget it, I don't want you to be too comfortable tonight. Bad night."
Charles pursed his lips, continuing, "Are you sure you don't want to give me a goodnight kiss?"
"Yes..."
Diana was about to confirm when her words were cut off.
They were already on the same bed, and with her shoulder held, kissing her was easy for Charles.
He kissed her fiercely, as if trying to take all her air, sucking on the corner of her lips he had kissed before.
Besides the tingling, there was a sharp pain, constantly stimulating her senses.
Diana's hands were held by him, her kicking feet trapped between his legs.
She wanted to curse him, but he found the right moment, her tongue caught and sucked, making her dizzy.
Just as she felt she was about to suffocate, Charles finally released her lips, a silver thread connecting them.
Diana's expression was dazed, instinctively taking deep breaths, hearing him say, "If you don't take the initiative, then I will."
He leaned closer, his voice ambiguous, "I think this kind of goodnight kiss is nice too."
Seeing her lips about to be attacked again, the oxygen-deprived Diana finally came to her senses, pressing her forehead against Charles'.
She resisted like a lamb in a farm, "Alright, I get it, stop kissing."
