Chapter 351 Where is His Mother?

Dean's pupils shrank, a wave of intense panic washing over him.

He forced himself to control his emotions and analyze the situation.

How could it be that in just a few hours, Benjamin ended up at Charles' place?

'No, no, it might not be him. There are too many people with the same last name. I need to stay calm.'

Dean took a deep breath and said in a steady voice, "Alright, put Mr. Percy on the phone. I need to speak with him."

"Okay."

Benjamin nodded and handed the phone to Charles. "My uncle wants to talk to you."

Charles took the phone, his voice cold and detached. "Are you Benjamin's uncle? How could you let a kid run around unsupervised like that?"

Dean's heart sank the moment he heard the voice. It was unmistakably Charles.

Bad news: Benjamin was with Charles.

Good news: Charles hadn't recognized Benjamin as his son.

This was the first time Dean had spoken to Charles. His words were full of concern for Benjamin, but Dean knew he was a wolf in sheep's clothing.

Diana had gone through so much to escape from him. There was no way he could let Benjamin fall into the same trap.

Dean steadied himself and replied, "I'm sorry, Benjamin has always been very active. Is he with you now? Could you give me an address so I can pick him up as soon as possible?"

"You're his uncle, right?"

"Yes."

"Then where is his mother? I'm curious why, as his legal guardian, she would be so irresponsible as to leave Benjamin with you."

Charles' eyes were deep as he continued, "Since Benjamin's father isn't around, his mother should be able to step in, right?"

Before he could finish, Benjamin rushed over, too short to reach anything but Charles' knees, and started hitting them.

His voice was sharp, like a little wild animal, "Don't you dare insult my mommy! You bad man!"

The bodyguard in black quickly pulled Benjamin away.

On the other end of the line, Dean was also furious at Charles' words but was more worried that Benjamin might anger Charles.

"Mr. Percy, we're just ordinary people. Naturally, we have to go out and earn a living. Benjamin's mother is busy with work, so I help take care of him. Isn't that normal? Please don't make assumptions about our family."

Then he changed his tone, "Benjamin, don't be rude. Did you forget what your mommy taught you?"

Benjamin pouted, tears welling up in his eyes, but he held back his emotions and replied loudly, "I didn't forget! Dean, come get me. I want to go home!"

Dean's heart ached at his plea, regretting not keeping a closer eye on him and letting him run off.

"Alright, I'll come get you right away."

It was a touching moment, but Charles interrupted their conversation coldly, "I'll have someone send you the address shortly. Come as soon as you can."

With that, he hung up the phone.

By now, it was already dark outside.

Charles glanced at the night sky, then at Benjamin. "Will your uncle be able to come tonight?"

The bodyguard had let Benjamin go. He wiped his tears and huffed, "What's it to you? He'll definitely come get me."

"It matters to me because if he can't come, you'll have to stay here tonight. The guest room isn't ready. Do you want to sleep in the doghouse?"

Charles frowned slightly, wondering where Benjamin got his stubbornness from.

"You!" Benjamin was at a loss for words.

Fortunately, Jacob stepped in to ease the tension, "It's alright, I'll have someone prepare a guest room."

Even if Dean hurried, he wouldn't make it tonight. Benjamin's attitude softened at Jacob's arrangement, "Thank you, Mr. Hearst."

Jacob waved it off with a smile, "You should thank him. Mr. Percy was suggesting you stay the night."

Benjamin blinked, looking at Charles.

After a moment, he said, "Why do you talk in circles? If you want me to stay, just say so. I'm a kid, I don't understand your hints."

Not just kids, even Jacob had only understood because he'd been around Charles for so long.

Otherwise, he wouldn't have dared to make arrangements on his own.

Unexpectedly, Benjamin spoke so bluntly. Seeing Charles' face turn ashen, Jacob immediately stepped forward, pulling Benjamin to his side with a forced smile.

"Mr. Percy, he's just a child. Don't take it to heart. I'll show him to the guest room."

Once they left, the living room fell silent.

Charles replayed Benjamin's words in his mind, feeling a mix of anger and embarrassment.

Did he really talk in circles? Or were these people just too dense to understand him?

Celestria.

Diana was packing up after finishing her work.

She was happy to be going home tomorrow.

There was a knock on the door, followed by the tentative voice of her client's assistant, Octavia, "Is anyone there?"

Diana put down her things and replied, "Come in."

Octavia entered, and after exchanging greetings, she said, "Do you really have to leave tomorrow? Is the Sword of Damocles matter that urgent?"

Diana smiled, "I just want to go home after finishing my work. Is there a problem?"

Octavia relaxed, realizing it wasn't anything serious, "No, it's just that my boss wants to take you out for dinner to thank you for your help."

Diana raised an eyebrow, surprised, "Isn't your boss very busy? Why does he always want to take me out to dinner? Is your company branching into the food industry now?"

Octavia laughed, trying to be polite, "My boss says it's become a habit to invite you to dinner. He hopes you'll accept."

"What if I don't?" Diana smiled.

Before Octavia could answer, a man's clear voice came from behind, "Then I'll have to invite you personally."

Octavia quickly bowed and left, closing the door behind her.

The man had deep-set eyes and a constant smile, exuding warmth and friendliness.

But Diana wasn't fooled. He used to be one of the agents for Dawn Innovations Group, already quite prominent.

In just a few years, he had nearly taken over the company's original shares. Some speculated he might become the heir to Dawn Innovations Group.

"What are you doing here?"

Diana's tone was calm as she looked at the seemingly kind but ruthless man before her.

Brayden smiled, his tone slightly reproachful, "You won't come to see me, so I had to come to see you. Stay a bit longer, I'll take you out for a nice dinner."

Diana looked up, smiling wryly, "Has anyone ever told you your tricks are very cliché?"

Brayden blinked innocently, "But isn't that how you pursue a girl? You're wealthy and don't need anything, and you don't want the jewels I give you."

"So I can only invite you to dinner and shopping. Please, beautiful lady, have pity on this bachelor."
