Chapter 29 The Gem

Diana couldn't help but laugh. Clara was really putting on a show, but the more she did, the more Diana wanted to embarrass her.

Just as Diana was about to say something, Charles turned to Clara and snapped, "Get out!"

Clara didn't stick around. Charles looked like he was about to blow, and she knew better than to push her luck. She left in a hurry, not wanting to get caught in the crossfire.

Now, Diana was left to face the storm alone.

Charles stood up, grabbed Diana, and dragged her over to the floor-to-ceiling window. They were on the top floor, twenty-four stories up. The cars and people below looked like tiny dots, way too far to see clearly.

Diana's heart was pounding, fear creeping in. This was the kind of fear the original Diana had felt.

Her face showed panic as she clung to Charles' arm, trying to pull back, but he had her pinned against the window, unable to move.

It was a humiliating position. Her arms were twisted behind her back, her head held by his large hand, and her right cheek pressed against the cold glass. She was uncomfortable, but she couldn't break free.

Diana's eyes were red, her voice shaky. "Don't leave me here, let me go!"

Charles was strong, his voice menacing. "Keep talking, weren't you chatty just now? Diana, I warned you, don't provoke me again. If you do this again, I'll throw you out of here!"

With that, Charles let go of Diana, watching as she collapsed to the floor, gasping for breath.

Diana didn't dare mention the Spencer Group again. Charles was a madman; he might really throw her out the window.

Nolan stepped forward at the right moment, picked up Diana, and took her out of the CEO's office.

He said in a harsh tone, "Ms. Spencer, don't anger Mr. Percy anymore. Right now, the most important thing for you is to make money and prepare to repay your debt."

With that, he let go of her, signaling for Diana to leave on her own.

Diana's steps were heavy. She had really tried her best. 'How could I explain this to the original Diana? Maybe after I pay off the debt, I'll just start another company with the Spencer name? But if it was that simple, the original Diana wouldn't have had such a deep obsession,' she thought to herself.

Diana reached out to press the elevator button, thinking of all the possibilities, when her phone suddenly buzzed.

A photo popped up on Diana's phone, showing a simple gemstone.

Diana was surprised. She knew Dean had found it.

Her guess was right; the gemstone hadn't been lost.

It had just ended up abroad, in the hands of a collector. This person was very low-key, never showing off his treasures or holding auctions or exhibitions.

During Dean's investigation, he suspected that this collector might be someone who collected all sorts of stolen goods. Besides the gemstone, other collections were from who knows where. So under Dean's threats and bribes, the collector handed over the gemstone.

However, in the near future, Dark Web's A would have to do something for this collector.

Diana didn't know that Dean had used her as a reward. She was very happy now; all her efforts these days hadn't been in vain. So she paused and headed back to the CEO's office.

Nolan saw her come back and thought she was still not giving up. He frowned as he pondered, 'No wonder Charles hates Diana so much. How could a woman be so shameless?'

Nolan said, "If you don't leave, I'll have someone throw you out."

Those words sounded all too familiar! It seemed like Nolan had picked up a thing or two from Charles. But Diana wasn't mad. She just held up her phone in front of him.

Nolan looked annoyed at first, but when he saw the photo, his expression changed. He was about to take the phone for a closer look, but Diana pulled it away. "Well, Nolan, can I negotiate with Mr. Percy now?"

Nolan was shocked. He recognized the gemstone; it was a treasure of the Percy Family.

When Charles first took over, he had asked Nolan to find this gemstone, but there had been no news until now.

They had even gone to the Dark Web to hire hackers, but the gemstone seemed to have just vanished.

But now, the photo on Diana's phone was undoubtedly that gemstone. If Diana used this as leverage, the entire Spencer Group might be revived.

Nolan's eyes darkened as he gained a new perspective on Diana. He had thought she would just recklessly approach Charles, but she had secretly done something big.

Seeing Nolan's change in expression, Diana knew she could succeed.

Now she had the upper hand and Charles inside was probably still furious, so she wouldn't go in to provoke him. She said to Nolan, "Nolan, it seems you know what this is. You've been with Charles for so long; you must be a smart person. You know what I want." Diana's voice was clear and soft, but it had an irresistible allure.

Nolan swallowed and said, "Send me the photo, and I'll report to Mr. Percy."

Diana nodded. Now Nolan was the middleman, and she didn't even have to negotiate herself. It was perfect.

After exchanging contact information, Diana sent him the picture.

She planned to have Dean ship it through Dark Web logistics when she got back home. Everything would be readily solved.

Nolan carefully zoomed in and out of the photo, comparing it with the ones he had. He found that it was indeed the missing gemstone from the Percy Group, but how had Diana found it?

Just as Diana reached the ground floor, her phone rang. She opened it, and sure enough, Nolan couldn't wait to question her.

Nolan: [Ms. Spencer, for the upcoming transaction to go smoothly, I need to know how you found this gemstone.]

Nolan: [And where did you learn about the gemstone's disappearance?]

Diana didn't rush to reply. She entered a nearby cake shop to buy a cake for Evelyn. Then she took a cab home, and only when she was sitting on the Spencer Family's sofa did she take out her phone to reply.

Diana: [I can't answer the first question. I have my ways of finding it. Otherwise, how would I have the right to negotiate with Mr. Percy?]

Diana: [I've been to the Percy Family's cemetery, and it was Mr. Percy who took me there. The servants there used to serve Juniper. I spent a night in the cemetery and said a lot of nice things to learn this information.]

After typing a long string of words, Diana even felt like sending a cute cat emoji. Her words hinted that Charles had brought this on himself.

Diana didn't care what Nolan thought. She stretched and prepared to take a bath. Later, she still had to talk to Dean. Today had really been a lucky day.
