Chapter 65 Uninvited Guest
When Clara showed up at the Spencer Villa, only Evelyn was downstairs making soup for Diana, who was still napping. Diana had been super sleepy lately, but Isolde told her it was normal, so she didn't stress about it.
"Evelyn?" Clara called out. It was her first time back at the villa since getting kicked out. She was surprised to see Diana being so thrifty, with just one maid, and that too the one who had been there before.
Evelyn jumped when she saw Clara. Back when Clara lived there, Evelyn knew her as someone who looked sweet but had a nasty streak. She didn't dare cross her.
Evelyn quickly stopped what she was doing and greeted, "Ms. Williams."
Clara gave her a once-over, frowned, and started bossing her around. "Where's Diana? Tell her to come see me. And get me a glass of water."
Evelyn nodded and went to get the water. When Diana woke up and came downstairs, she saw Clara lounging on the sofa, snapping, "I asked for water, and you bring me cold water?"
"This is what you used to drink," Evelyn mumbled. 'Clara always liked cold water, what's up with her now?' Not wanting to argue, Evelyn went to get another glass.
As she reached the staircase, she looked up and saw Diana, her eyes lighting up but scratching her head awkwardly. "Sorry, Ms. Spencer, Ms. Williams asked for water."
Diana nodded, having seen everything. "It's okay, you go cook, I'll handle it." Diana then took out an ugly black cup from under the cabinet, poured the water from a nearby vase into it, and handed it to Clara. She even reminded Evelyn to change the water for the flowers. Evelyn was stunned by how smoothly Diana did it all.
Clara was still shouting from the living room, "Evelyn! What's taking so long with the water?"
Just then, Diana walked over and placed the glass in front of her. "Her you go."
Clara's face changed when she saw Diana. She glanced at Diana's flat stomach, her expression shifting slightly, and took a sip. The weird sour taste made her spit it out immediately. Clara pushed the cup away, spilling water on the table. She noticed tiny bugs in the water and freaked out, remembering she had swallowed some. She rushed to the bathroom to throw up, but nothing came out.
She rinsed her mouth like crazy, and Diana strolled over, leaning against the door, watching her. "How's it taste? I made it just for you."
"Diana! What kind of water did you give me? It's disgusting!" Clara's eyes were red with anger, glaring at Diana.
Diana looked unfazed and pointed to the toilet. Clara gagged even more. Diana said, "Clara, I don't remember inviting you here. Next time you show up uninvited, it won't just be toilet water."
Clara, both anxious and angry, snapped back, "You've been MIA from the company for days, and you think you're in the right? Mr. Percy invested a ton of money, not for you to squander it!"
Diana crossed her arms and raised an eyebrow. "Charles hasn't come to question me, and you think you can? If I remember right, we're competitors. Why are you so worried about your rival?"
Clara was speechless but already plotting something nasty. She glared at Diana and hissed, "You'll regret this, Diana!" Then, without warning, she lunged at Diana, aiming for her stomach. She didn't care whose baby it was; it had to go.
Clara moved so fast that Diana barely had time to react. She instinctively covered her stomach and got knocked backward.
"Ms. Spencer!" Evelyn screamed as she rushed over, cushioning Diana's fall with her own body. Diana was unharmed but visibly shaken. Clara, seeing Diana clutching her stomach, seemed ready to take another step, but at that moment, Robert walked in.
He saw Evelyn and Diana on the floor, with Clara looking poised to continue her attack. Without missing a beat, he shouted to the bodyguards he had just hired for Diana, "What are you waiting for? Grab her!"
The bodyguards quickly restrained Clara while two others helped Diana and Evelyn up. Diana was okay, but Evelyn had a bleeding chin and looked pretty rough.
Diana steadied herself and slapped Clara. "You bitch! Get her out of here!"
"Let go of me! Diana, how dare you treat me like this!" Clara's screams faded as she was dragged away.
Normally, Diana wouldn't let Clara off so easily, but Evelyn was hurt, and she was more worried about her. She quickly took Evelyn to the hospital.
Evelyn, pale and sweating from the pain, was still worried about Diana. "Ms. Spencer, are you okay? Is the baby alright? It's my fault; I should have kicked her out earlier."
Diana held her hand and reassured her, "I'm fine, but you shouldn't be so impulsive next time. It's not your fault; I didn't expect her to act like that."
'Clara's usually just a pain, so why did she go nuts?' Diana thought, feeling uneasy as she touched her stomach.
After being thrown out, Clara rushed home. "Mom! Mom! Where are you?" she yelled.
The maid, seeing Clara in a state, pointed to the small garden. "Mrs. Mia Williams is watering the flowers."
Clara, with her hair a mess, makeup smeared, and dirt on her clothes, looked like a wreck. Mia was startled by her appearance and quickly approached. "What happened, Clara? Who did this to you?"
Clara's first reaction was to snatch the watering can and smash it, water splashing everywhere. Before Mia could react, Clara grabbed her arm. "Mom, why are you watering flowers right now? Diana is definitely pregnant! I bumped into her on purpose, and her first reaction was to protect her stomach. Who else would do that but a pregnant woman? What do we do now, Mom?" Clara's voice was frantic, and her words tumbled out.
Mia picked up on the key info, her face darkening. She calmed Clara down, "It's okay, Clara. Calm down and listen to me!"
Clara forced herself to calm down, looking at Mia like she was her lifeline.
"We need to tell Mr. Percy about her pregnancy," Mia said.
"Why? Wouldn't that make it harder to act?" Clara was confused.
Mia's voice turned cold. "What if we get rid of her child first and then tell Mr. Percy that Diana had an abortion on her own?" Clara was stunned. If that happened, Charles would hate Diana for aborting his child without telling him.
"How do we make her abort the child herself?" Clara asked.
Mia motioned for Clara to come closer. Clara, still skeptical, leaned in and was shocked by the plan. After explaining, Mia still wore a gentle smile, as if the sinister plan wasn't hers. "How about this, Clara? Trust me, it will work."
