Chapter 50 Happy Cooperation

Seeing that Diana hadn't replied, Isolde lost her patience and decided to call her up. When Diana picked up, she heard Isolde's cheerful voice on the other end. "Diana, guess what? I took over the company's affairs today. Our software's been getting a lot of flak lately. I thought it was just picky netizens, but turns out it was our own staff messing up. I got so mad, I fired them all!"

Listening to Isolde's animated recount of her day, Diana couldn't help but chuckle, her tone teasing, "You say you're angry, but you sound pretty happy about it."

"Of course! Turns out running the company isn't that hard. My parents taught me everything before. It was only after I got married that I avoided reality and let Finnian take over." Isolde's voice dipped a bit, but she quickly bounced back. "Thanks, Diana. I wouldn't have had the guts to make this move without you."

Diana felt a warm glow. Isolde wasn't the hot-tempered but powerless person she used to be. She'd regained everything she once lost. A confident woman was truly captivating.

Diana cut in, reminding her to get to the point, "Ms. Porter, did you call just to thank me? I don't accept thanks over the phone; you owe me a meal."

Isolde, jolted back to her purpose, cleared her throat and got formal. "Hello, Ms. Spencer. On behalf of the Porter Group, I extend an invitation for collaboration. Would you be willing to join forces with me?"

Diana was amused by Isolde's sudden formality and mimicked her tone, "It would be an honor to collaborate with your company. Here's to a successful partnership!"

They both laughed. It seemed like a joke, but the next second, Isolde sent over a detailed proposal. It laid out the collaboration specifics clearly. This was why having the right friends mattered. Diana had been pondering how to promote the Spencer Group's products.

And just like that, Isolde provided the solution. The Porter Group focused on a social short video app that was trending big time. It needed celebrities or potential stars to drive traffic and profits.

Meanwhile, the Spencer Group, an established food company, lacked innovation and exposure. It needed the Porter Group's platform to gain visibility and create brand buzz.

Once the Spencer Group started making profits, the platform could keep benefiting from it. This collaboration was a win-win for both Isolde and Diana.

After reading the proposal carefully, Diana told Isolde, "It can be optimized a bit. I'll make some changes and we'll discuss it at our next meeting."

Hearing this, Isolde felt relieved. With Diana on board, this collaboration was bound to succeed. Since her successful divorce, Isolde had developed a deep admiration for Diana. Being friends with smart people was indeed a breeze.

At the Spencer Group, around 2 p.m., Clara's team finally wrapped up a grueling morning meeting and could break for lunch. But as soon as Axel stepped out, he saw Diana's team of five chatting and laughing, looking like they were having the time of their lives. They seemed so relaxed, not at all worn down by work.

Axel felt a surge of anger. They were all in the same company, so why was Diana's team so chill? Diana, their leader, hadn't even been to the office for a week, and her team seemed idle.

Every day, they were either typing away on their computers or gathered together, laughing and chatting, with no apparent work pressure. Meanwhile, Axel's team was drowning in meetings and their leader's erratic ideas.

The worst part? Less than a month into the project, Clara had already changed her mind 16 times. Clara was happy, but her team was suffering.

Seeing them so carefree, Axel couldn't help but walk over and sarcastically say, "Your team seems pretty relaxed. Any progress on your work? Don't end up making no money and having to clean up for Diana."

Calliope, who was straightforward and naive, immediately shot back, "Axel, appearances can be deceiving. Ms. Wipere handles our issues remotely."

This made Axel even more jealous. 'Not only is their leader absent, but she can also solve work problems remotely. How lucky are they?'

If Axel weren't trying to take shortcuts to get promoted, he would have joined their team long ago. Most of the others felt the same but didn't dare say it because of Clara. Axel rolled his eyes and moved closer, asking in a low voice, "How does your team plan to operate? Are you just living off the factory's goods?"

Seeing Axel's nonsense, Calliope was about to retort but was stopped by a male teammate who whispered, "Don't talk to him."

After warning Calliope, the guy turned to Axel with a polite smile but said in a resistant tone, "Axel, we're colleagues, but now we're two teams. We're still in a competition, and it's not appropriate for you to ask about our core secrets."

Caught off guard, Axel awkwardly touched his nose and muttered, "Fine, don't tell me. What's the big deal?"

In the office, Clara was reviewing the proposals they had submitted, each one more bizarre and full of loopholes than the last. She couldn't find any use for them other than burning them as waste paper. Why couldn't anyone come up with what she wanted? Although she didn't know what she wanted either.

Clara's original purpose in leading the Spencer Group was to monitor Diana and support Nathan's power grab. However, Diana's frequent disappearances and Clara's involvement with the Percy Group fueled her growing anger and dissatisfaction. With a grim face, Clara threw the proposals into the shredder in front of everyone in the office. Everyone watched Clara's silent back, not daring to speak. Suppressing her anger, Clara thought these idiots were useless, and the company was wasting money on a bunch of trash.

Clara's sharp voice cut through the office as she demanded a redo of the work. "If you present me with this subpar work again, you're gone!" Silence gripped the room.

Reluctant to elaborate further, Clara felt obligated to inform Charles about Diana's work attitude. Her determination to turn Charles against Diana only grew stronger.
