Chapter 211 It's Snowing

Rainbow Orphanage wasn't always a peaceful place. Sure, it had its dark days, but it did raise a lot of kids.

"Ms. Hope, I've made some money from my business. I'm planning to donate some to Rainbow Orphanage. There will be someone to manage it, so you can take it easy." Diana said this right at the dining table after finishing her meal.

Kennedy had already heard about this from Evelyn earlier, and now hearing Diana say it, she was naturally pleased.

After expressing her gratitude, she couldn't help but add, "Diana, it's not easy for you to make money. Just do what you can. As long as the kids have enough to eat and wear, that's enough."

"Got it, Ms. Hope. I'm actually doing pretty well."

Diana took a sip of water from her cup, and her words made Charles glance at her.

He repeated her words softly, with a hint of mockery. "Pretty well-off."

Diana shot him a glare.

She thought to herself, 'What are you pretending for? You're so rich, but you haven't done any good deeds either.'

Seeing the two bickering, Kennedy smiled helplessly, collected the leftover plates, and turned to the kitchen.

Charles, feeling satisfied after the meal, leaned back lazily with a few traces of contentment on his face.

He crossed his hands, elbows resting on the table, "Is the Spencer Group very profitable?"

Diana's expression turned wary, thinking he was up to no good again. "Mr. Percy, the Spencer Group is mine now. Our agreement is very clear; you can't interfere with it."

Noticing her bristle like a hedgehog, Charles's playful demeanor turned serious.

He had already let go of the past and was trying to communicate normally with her. Why was Diana still acting like he was a threat? Was he really that scary?

"I'm not that idle. I'm just curious when you became so charitable and started doing philanthropy?" His tone carried a bit of anger, and he couldn't help but be sarcastic.

Diana snorted, "Mr. Percy, you should know very well. After all, I've always been a hypocrite."

With that, she stood up and went to Evelyn's room.

She found the bed dirty because Charles had slept in it!

Seeing Diana leave in a huff, Charles pursed his lips and clenched his fists.

Diana's temper had really gotten worse since she got pregnant!

"Charles, you're still here?" Kennedy said, wiping her hands, seeing Charles sitting alone at the dining table.

Kennedy was a somewhat plump middle-aged woman with a very round face. When she looked down, she would even have an adorable double chin.

Noticing Charles not respond, Kennedy wasn't angry. She looked around to make sure no one was around, then lowered her voice, "Charles, did you have a fight with Diana?"

Charles didn't like talking to strangers much, but after having a meal with Kennedy and finding her very amiable, he relaxed a bit.

Kennedy took his expression as a confirmation.

She sat down at the table, her tone curious, "I knew it. You two look so well-matched together. Evelyn tried to hide it from me. I've raised her for so many years. I know her personality."

"Are you Evelyn's mother?" Charles suddenly asked, clearly focusing on the wrong point.

When Kennedy mentioned Evelyn before, he thought it was just a polite remark.

But now, hearing her say this, it seemed their relationship was not simple.

Kennedy was momentarily distracted by his question but nodded, "Sort of. Evelyn is an orphan and grew up here. She's a child of Rainbow Orphanage."

Charles fell silent, pondering for a moment. Now everything made sense.

Diana didn't come to Sunset Hamlet for no reason; it was because of Evelyn.

He found it hard to believe. She used to be a child from a wealthy family, so how did she become so close to a maid?

"You young people, always reluctant to communicate when in love," Kennedy continued, interrupting Charles's thoughts. "Love must be expressed. If misunderstandings continue, there will always be a day of regret."

Her voice became a bit melancholic, as if recalling something, and she seemed a bit sad.

Regardless of Charles's reaction, Kennedy stood up. "It's getting late. I should go to bed. Charles, you should sleep early too."

The living room fell completely silent, and outside, the snow continued to fall. By tomorrow, the entire Evergreen City would likely be covered in a blanket of white.

Charles's fingers curled slightly, and his chest and throat felt a bit itchy.

Love must be expressed, but what was love?

Did he love Diana?

He rubbed his chest and coughed a few times, trying to ease the itch.

He thought he might be craving a cigarette.

The snow didn't stop all night, and Sunset Hamlet was covered in a soft blanket of snow.

As soon as it was dawn, the outside became lively.

People going to work cursed the snow for being a nuisance, almost slipping and falling after just a few steps.

In contrast to the adults' anger, the children were particularly excited.

Early in the morning, the kids of Rainbow Orphanage were eager to go out and play.

But Kennedy made them finish their breakfast before letting them out.

The yard was covered in snow about a hand's breadth thick, looking soft and fluffy.

As soon as they went out, the kids started rolling around in the snow.

They were dressed warmly and didn't feel cold, their faces flushed with excitement.

Diana and Evelyn were curled up on the sofa, smiling as they watched the kids play outside.

Charles, sitting nearby with his head propped up, had his eyes on Diana.

She liked kids so much; she would probably be a good mom when their baby was born.

This thought suddenly came to him, surprising even himself.

Not long ago, they were talking about the agreement.

It clearly stated that after the baby was born, it would belong to the Percy family, and Diana would have to leave Evergreen City forever.

But a part of him was beginning to waver.

Willow and Ridge came over, stomping the snow off their feet before entering.

"Everyone, let's build a snowman!" Willow's voice was loud.

Ridge, though a bit shy, echoed, "Let's build a snowman together."

Evelyn and Diana exchanged a glance, their playful spirits ignited.

They put on their coats and were about to go out.

But Charles grabbed Diana's arm, frowning and whispering, "You're pregnant. What are you doing?"

Diana tightened her coat and muttered, "Just playing for a bit. The kids are really looking forward to it."

Willow, thinking Charles wanted to join, grabbed his arm, "Charles, come with us! And the men in black too, you guys are strong. We can build a big snowman!"

"Come on, let's play!" Ridge also grabbed his sleeve, gently shaking it, trying to be persuasive.

Seeing him freeze, Diana smiled mischievously and mimicked, "Come on, let's play!"

She dragged out the last word, like a cat's tail lightly brushing against Charles's heart.

It was so itchy.

Sure enough, as soon as Diana finished speaking, he quickly let go of her arm and stepped aside, as if something had pricked him.

His reaction greatly amused Diana. She had pretended to be cute, and even she felt like throwing up inside.

Who did he think he was, trying to control her? She was going to annoy him!

While Charles let it go, Evelyn wasn't going to.
