Chapter 114 Severing Ties
Diana raised an eyebrow. She had been waiting for this day, but she couldn't agree immediately.
She continued, "I also want Nathan to sever the father-daughter relationship with me. Have him prepare the documents. When you're ready, call me."
Clara saw Diana's indifference and gritted her teeth, her voice getting more urgent. "We can get the lawyer to draft it right now. Please, come with me to see Dad. He fainted from anger and is in the hospital."
"So what? It's not like I made him angry." Diana shot her a look, finding her words amusing. Even if Nathan dropped dead from anger, Diana would still be clapping her hands in glee.
Diana stretched lazily, her tone casual. "Fine, let's go see your sickly father."
Clara nodded timidly, looking all subdued after the incident.
But behind her sunglasses, Clara's eyes were filled with venom, thinking, 'Diana, just you wait!'
Clara was in such a rush that she didn't even call the driver; she drove herself.
Diana lounged in the back seat, playing with her phone.
In just two days, Clara had felt the full force of internet hate. She used to bask in the praise of netizens, becoming an internet celebrity. But now, those same strangers were flooding her account with curses.
Clara didn't dare to respond, because once she did, there'd be hundreds or thousands of comments tearing her apart with all kinds of nasty words.
She ended up deleting her account, but even her alternate account got found and cursed out.
If Nathan hadn't stepped in to block the news, those crazy netizens might have shown up at her house.
And Sophie had a hand in stirring the pot too.
Clara was both angry and scared. She glanced at Diana's beautiful face through the rearview mirror.
Her gaze then fell on Diana's belly. It had only been a little over a month, so there were no signs of pregnancy yet.
At this stage, the fetus wasn't formed yet, but once born, it could change everything for Diana.
She thought, 'How could Diana be so lucky? One night and she gets pregnant. If it weren't for Diana's interference, it would have been me next to Charles that night!'
Clara's hands gripped the steering wheel tightly, her fingertips turning white, and hatred surged in her chest, making her eyes red.
Diana looked up and saw Clara's sunglasses through the rearview mirror.
Just then, Diana realized this wasn't the road to the nearby hospital.
"Where are you taking me?" Diana's tone turned cold, considering grabbing the steering wheel.
Clara stared straight ahead and explained, "Hopewell Hospital, Dad's there. The online buzz is spreading fast, and countless eyes are on me. If I show up, it'll definitely be posted online. You can check if you don't believe me, there's a Hopewell Hospital at the end of this road."
Clara was telling the truth; her goal today wasn't to kidnap Diana.
Nathan even put on a good show, really staying in the hospital.
Diana didn't respond, just opened her phone to check and found it was true.
But Diana still felt something was off, so she switched apps and sent a message. After that, she put away her phone and pretended to sleep.
The car slowly drove into the hospital gate and finally stopped in front of the inpatient department steps.
Clara got out first, walked around to the other side, and opened the door for Diana. "We're here, get out."
Diana got out and glanced at the somewhat deserted entrance of the inpatient department. "Why are there so few people in the inpatient department?"
Clara didn't expect Diana to ask that and paused for a moment. "It's a private hospital," she said quietly.
Diana didn't say anything else, put her phone back in her pocket, and followed Clara inside.
Nathan was in room 1413. When Diana walked in, Mia was feeding him water. He looked pale, as if he were genuinely ill.
Mia was the first to notice Diana. Her eyes lit up, and she immediately stood up, bringing over a chair. "Diana, you're here. Sit down."
Diana stood by the bed with her arms crossed, ignoring Mia's attentiveness. She looked at Nathan and said, "The share transfer agreement and the papers to sever ties. Have you signed them? Hurry up and give them to me."
Nathan was almost driven mad by Diana's demanding attitude. He pointed at her and cursed, "You ungrateful brat! I'm your father! Is this how you visit me in the hospital?"
Diana snorted, mocking him. "Weren't you the ones begging me to come? If you don't want to see me, I'll leave right now."
With that, Diana turned around and started to leave.
Mia quickly grabbed her arm, smiling. "Diana, don't go. Don't argue with a patient."
Diana impatiently shook off Mia, waiting to see what they wanted.
"Nathan, don't lose your cool. We're family. Let's talk nicely," Mia said, trying to calm Nathan down.
After a tense moment, Nathan gave in first. "Go, get the papers for her."
Clara took a document from the briefcase by the bed and handed it to Diana.
It was a share transfer agreement. Diana flipped through it.
She frowned and extended her hand to Clara. "Just this? Didn't you say your dad agreed to disown me? Where's the other paper?"
Clara was at a loss. She had only wanted to bring Diana over, so she had hastily made up an excuse.
Nathan, lying in bed, was even more furious when he heard this. He sat up and scolded, "Diana, I'm your father. I raised you. How dare you disown me!"
"If you brought me here today to calculate how much you spent on me, I don't mind calling a lawyer to re-calculate how much you spent from the Spencer family." Diana's face darkened.
Nathan was usually pampered by servants, and Mia always prioritized him. He had never been treated like this. He was so angry that his chest heaved up and down, but he didn't dare to say more, fearing Diana would really calculate the expenses.
Nathan said, "Enough! I don't want to calculate this with you. Clara should have told you, the shares are yours. You help her settle this matter. Sign it, but I won't sign the severing ties papers. You are my kid!"
Diana suddenly laughed. "What a joke! Did you carry me for ten months? Did you experience the pain of childbirth? Your kid? Don't overestimate yourself."
"Diana, don't say that. Nathan is still your father," Mia pleaded.
Diana rolled her eyes, thinking he refused to sever ties with her just to spend her money for a lifetime, along with Mia and Clara.
"I'll give you one minute to think about it. If you don't want to, I'll leave. Just 15% of the shares, I don't want them. It's up to you." With that, Diana took out her phone and started a one-minute countdown.
Nathan held back his anger, seeing the time almost up.
Mia and Clara couldn't help but urge, "Honey!"
"Dad!"
Nathan finally gave in. "I agree! Bring the papers, I'll sign."
Diana, hearing Nathan's words, quickly pulled up the electronic file on her phone, pointed to the blank space, and said, "I've got the e-version ready. Mr. Williams, you just need to sign."
Seeing how eager Diana was to cut ties, Nathan gritted his teeth, his hand shaking as he signed.
Meanwhile, Diana was scanning the equity transfer document in her hand, making sure Nathan hadn't set any traps.
Once she confirmed everything was legit, Diana signed her name, grabbed her phone, and was ready to leave.
But just as she reached the door, two tall guys blocked her way. One of them snatched the contract from her hand and shoved her back.
Behind her, Clara's sinister laugh echoed. "Diana, are you pregnant?"
Diana froze. How could she possibly know?
