Chapter 108 Alexander, Behave Yourself!
The next morning at 8 AM, Victoria woke up and immediately checked her phone. Finally, there was a message from Alexander:
Alexander: [Call me when you wake up.]
Without hesitation, she hit the video call button. She really wanted to see him; she had missed him a lot since yesterday.
After a few rings, Alexander answered, but it switched to a voice call.
"Hey," Victoria said softly, her voice still husky from sleep. She didn't realize how seductive it sounded.
"Trying to seduce me with that morning voice?" Alexander teased.
Victoria blushed, confused. She was just talking normally, right?
"Why didn't you answer my video call?" she asked, trying to change the subject.
But Alexander always knew how to make her blush. "Do you miss me?" he asked.
"Yes," she admitted.
He chuckled, a sound that made her heart flutter. "I'm in the shower right now. Want a peek?"
"Alexander, behave!" she said, embarrassed.
"How am I not behaving? I'm yours, and you'll see me eventually," he teased.
Victoria decided to steer the conversation away. "When are you coming back?"
"Not sure yet, but I'll be back as soon as I can. Did you sleep well at Serenity Grove Manor?" he asked.
"Not really, because you weren't there," she said, a bit sullen.
Alexander was taken aback. Was she being coy? It made him happy, lifting his spirits.
Trying to change the subject, Victoria mentioned Caesar. "I saw your tiger last night. It came to the bedroom, but it's well-behaved and obedient."
Alexander couldn't help but smile. 'Caesar, well-behaved and obedient?' he thought. He was impressed she managed to handle Caesar so quickly.
Before he left, Alexander had planned to introduce Victoria to Caesar, but she had already met the tiger.
"By the way, Lila and I are heading to Jakarda City the day after tomorrow for Marlowe's birthday," Victoria mentioned.
"Okay, stay safe. I'll call you at noon," Alexander replied.
After hanging up, Victoria felt a bit better. She got up, brushed her teeth, washed her face, changed clothes, and went downstairs. Caesar was no longer in the bedroom.
During breakfast, Sawyer explained that Caesar usually stayed out of the main building during the day to avoid scaring the staff. The tiger had its own place at Serenity Grove Manor.
After giving Ignatius a few instructions, Victoria headed to the company.
Meanwhile, in Country M, Alexander was surrounded by doctors. It was midnight there. He looked pale, with sweat on his forehead and a bleeding shoulder.
"We can't wait any longer. We need to remove the bullet now," a doctor said seriously.
They were about to start earlier, but Alexander had sent everyone out to take Victoria's call, enduring the pain.
"Are you sure you don't want anesthesia?" the doctor asked again. He had never seen anyone go through bullet removal without it.
"No," Alexander insisted. He had promised Victoria he'd call her at noon, and anesthesia would knock him out.
He had Dylan give him a towel to bite on. Guards were stationed everywhere outside the hotel. Ten minutes later, the bullet was out.
Alexander passed out from the pain. The doctor was amazed at his willpower; he hadn't made a sound during the procedure.
After treating the wound, the doctor gave some instructions, and Dylan saw him out.
Dylan, Quentin, and Marcus looked at the pale Alexander lying on the bed. If anything happened to him in Country M, Nathan would likely hold them responsible.
Two hours earlier, they had been ambushed. They hadn't expected a sniper. The trip was supposed to be confidential, but someone had leaked Alexander's itinerary.
