Chapter 93 Strange Account Information
Lucas stared at her like she was a stranger. "When did you get so money-hungry?"
Victoria laughed. "Everyone's after money, right? How's that money-hungry? Is making money a crime now?"
"Making money's fine, but at least do it legit!" Lucas shot back.
She smirked. "I haven't stolen or robbed anyone. I earned it fair and square. How's that not legit?"
Lucas, frustrated, raised his voice. "This could ruin your life!"
Victoria just smiled, unfazed. "Everyone cares about money, you know?"
Lucas's tone turned harsh. "Do you have to stoop so low? How's this different from being a prostitute?"
A cold light flashed in Victoria's eyes. She was willing to play along, but not to be insulted.
Her eyes locked on him, icy. "You're scared I'll use his power against you, huh?"
Lucas was stunned, then sneered. "You think a mistress like you can use the Howard family's power? Alexander's not someone you can control."
Victoria's lips curled into a cold smile. "Is that so? Let's wait and see."
She stood up and left gracefully, not one to tolerate insults.
Little did they know, Landon had been sitting behind them, overhearing everything.
After Lucas left, Landon finally looked up.
He hadn't expected to witness Victoria and Lucas's conversation during a casual coffee break.
The content was surprising. Remembering Saskia's warning, he quickly typed a message on his phone.
Meanwhile, Alexander had just finished an international video call when his phone buzzed.
He opened Facebook to find two messages from Landon.
Landon: [Just saw Victoria at the café. Someone's tryna get her 2 break up w/ u.]
[She didn't agree, but said she might 4 $20M.]
Less than a minute later, Landon got a call from Alexander.
A cold voice came through. "Who was it?"
Landon swallowed nervously. "I don't know. She called him Mr. Tudor."
Before he could say more, Alexander hung up.
Landon muttered, "Mr. Tudor? Why does that sound familiar? Tudor?"
Suddenly, he remembered Victoria's ex-fiancé's last name was Tudor.
Victoria was driving back to the office when her phone buzzed.
At a red light, she checked her phone and saw a bank notification: $40 million had been deposited into her account.
She stared at the message, puzzled.
Just then, her phone rang. It was Alexander.
She answered.
Alexander asked, "Did you get it?"
Victoria, shocked, asked, "Did you transfer this money?"
"Yes," he admitted.
"Why would you send me money?" She was confused; she wasn't short of cash.
Alexander explained, "Didn't you say you'd consider breaking up with me for $20 million? I added another $20 million so you wouldn't have to consider it. With my wealth, could you leave? I can send you $20 million every day as pocket money."
Victoria was silent, her mind racing. 'Was this how you use money?'
And this sounded familiar. Wasn't this what she had just said to Lucas?
"You know I met with Lucas?" Victoria asked.
"Yes, Landon was there," Alexander said, throwing Landon under the bus.
Victoria was exasperated. "I was just lying to him. I don't know how he found out about your identity."
But Alexander said, "I believe you."
His unconditional trust moved her, and her earlier discomfort vanished.
"Then why did you send so much money?" Victoria pressed.
