Chapter 410 She is Angry
"Wendy, what are you doing here?" Then he saw the book in her hand and realized, "Went to the study to get a book again?"
Fortunately, she had good adaptability and quickly adjusted.
"Yes, dad," she replied to Zephyr.
Her address was no different from usual, but Zephyr felt something was off, though he couldn't pinpoint what it was.
"Come, since you're here, let me introduce you to a guest of mine tonight," Zephyr said.
Zephyr had an intimidating presence, and this was Victoria's first close encounter with him.
In his youth, he was handsome, and even now, in his fifties, his face still held that charm, only more distinguished with time.
"Mr. Howardthis is my eldest daughter, Waverly," he introduced to the man beside him, then turned to Victoria, "Wendy, this is Alexander, the head of the Howard family from StellariaRihegde."
Alexander, respecting Zephyr, greeted the 'Waverly' in front of him.
Victoria stared at Alexander, finding him increasingly strange.
Wasn't he in Aidamore?
How did he quietly come to the Kingdom of Serenia?
And not only did he come, but he also happened to arrive at the Presidential Palace?
So, the guest Zephyr personally went to receive was Alexander.
Was fate playing a joke on her?
With a stranger's face, he shouldn't be able to guess it was her, right?
After all, her disguise skills were far superior to Nancy's.
She discreetly glanced at her left hand, relieved that she had put away the ring this time.
"Hello, Mr. Howard, I've heard a lot about you and your deeds," she said politely.
Seeing Alexander, she was too surprised to know what else to say.
Due to her proximity, Alexander's deep eyes lingered on her for a moment, darkening slightly.
"Really?" The usually reticent Alexander asked, "What deeds have you heard about me?"
Victoria fell silent.
Since when did Alexander become so inquisitive?
He was always cold and indifferent to unfamiliar women, never saying a word more than necessary.
Could it be that he had taken a liking to Waverly's face?
She frowned slightly, then gave him a sweet and gentle smile. "There are many, Mr. Howard. Do you have time to hear them all?"
Alexander paused, a faint smile on his lips. "Of course."
Victoria cursed inwardly, 'Bastard, how dare you!'
He actually smiled at 'Waverly'?
She always thought there were no women around him who could make her jealous because his eyes were always on her.
But now he smiled at 'Waverly', whom he met for the first time.
This made her very unhappy, her chest feeling tight.
And she had said that on purpose; her meaning was obvious. She didn't believe he didn't understand.
But he didn't refuse, even agreed to stay, which meant he didn't mind 'Waverly''s company, even willing to be alone with her!
This realization made her chest feel even tighter.
She directly ignored Zephyr, including the photos she had just seen in the study.
Suppressing her displeasure and irritation, she kept a smile on her face. "It's said that you're always pure and cold, never having women around. I didn't expect you to be so gentle with me today. It seems I'm honored. But I heard you already have a good match. If we are alone tonight, won't it cause gossip?" she added.
Alexander didn't respond this time, just smiled.
Victoria looked at the noble smile on his handsome face, feeling very annoyed.
She ignored him and turned to Zephyr. "Dad, I have something to do. I'll leave now and not disturb your conversation with Mr. Howard."
Without waiting for Zephyr's nod, she stepped past them and left.
Zephyr glanced at the departing Waverly, a hint of doubt flashing in his shrewd eyes. If he wasn't mistaken, he saw anger flash across her face.
She never spoke so rudely, especially in front of him, but now she dared to be angry in front of a guest.
He frowned and said to Alexander, "Wendy isn't usually like this; she might be in a bad mood tonight. If she said anything inappropriate, please don't mind."
Alexander's expression returned to normal, his tone cool. "Never mind."
"Mr. Howard, please come in, there's something I need to confirm with you," Zephyr said.
Alexander's visit to the Presidential Palace tonight wasn't entirely unplanned.
Zephyr had invited him before, but he hadn't agreed to come until today when he informed Zephyr that he would be in the Kingdom of Serenia tonight.
Meanwhile, Victoria walked towards Waverly's side wing. Just as she was about to turn into the garage, she encountered a noblewoman in a cheongsam.
It was Waverly's mother, Anouk.
Before she could speak, Anouk Montgomery called out first, "Waverly, did you go to your father's place to get a book again?"
Unable to avoid the encounter, Victoria nodded, "Yes, he is entertaining a guest, so I didn't want to disturb him and came back."
She didn't know how Anouk and Waverly usually interacted, so to avoid any slip-ups, she needed to leave quickly.
Anouk was about to say something when she noticed Victoria's pale face and furrowed brows.
Anouk immediately supported her, asking worriedly, "Waverly, what's wrong?"
Victoria said with some difficulty, "It's nothing. I might have accidentally drunk some cold water, and my stomach feels uncomfortable."
The information showed that Waverly had a sensitive stomach and couldn't drink cold things.
"Someone, help Waverly back to rest and call the family doctor," Anouk half-supported her, her face full of worry and concern, even shouting a bit frantically.
She looked genuinely anxious and worried.
Winter, disguised as Waverly's maid, had somehow returned.
She stepped forward and took over from Anouk. "Mrs. Windsor, I'll help Miss Windsor back."
Winter supported Victoria and left without waiting for them.
Anouk watched their backs, giving instructions to the person beside her but not following them.
If Victoria turned back now, she would see that the worry on Anouk's face had instantly disappeared.
