Chapter 213 The Reason for Alexander's Unhappiness
Seeing Alexander's grumpy face and silence, Victoria was even more confused.
But she could tell Alexander was pissed at her.
Was it 'cause she got home late?
But she had texted him.
She told him she'd be back late today.
"Are you mad?" She plopped down on the edge of the bed, blinking her big eyes at him.
Alexander kept his grumpy face, but he frowned a bit and snorted, "No."
Victoria went quiet. He was totally mad. He even gave her the cold shoulder.
She pursed her lips and said, "Didn't know you were into lying."
Alexander replied coolly, "There's a lot you don't know."
Alexander was feeling down and bummed out 'cause he'd been ignored for days.
Victoria raised an eyebrow, catching a whiff of his bad mood.
She quickly replayed her recent days in her head.
Besides work, she was dealing with Donna's mess. They were still short on evidence, just waiting for the mastermind to slip up.
She didn't say anything, and neither did he.
After a bit, she tilted her head, staring into his deep eyes, and asked, "Are you mad 'cause I haven't had dinner with you these past few days?"
After thinking it over, that seemed to be the only reason.
She hadn't been fighting or hurt; she just hadn't had dinner with him 'cause she was hanging with Sarah. Every time he asked, she said no, and she hadn't come back for dinner either.
Alexander didn't say anything, crossing his arms and pursing his lips, giving her a cold laugh and a look that said, "Figure it out."
Then, Alexander lifted the blanket, got out of bed from the other side, and headed to the bathroom.
Her eyes followed him.
Soon, she heard the water running in the bathroom.
She thought she saw a flash of embarrassment on his face just now.
Could it be she guessed right and he was too embarrassed to admit it?
She smiled a bit and walked into the bathroom, closing the door behind her.
Alexander was standing in front of the tub, running the water.
Victoria knew he was doing it for her.
He had this habit, and it hadn't changed since they started living together.
Staring at Alexander's tall, broad back, a wave of warmth filled her eyes.
Alexander could be pretty awkward when he was jealous and mad, needing some sweet talk.
But he never forgot the warmth and care he usually gave her. Even if he was mad she hadn't been with him these past few days, he still didn't forget to run a hot bath for her.
She had a habit of taking baths, but sometimes she was too lazy to run the water herself.
She reached out and hugged Alexander's firm waist, pressing her face against his back, and softly said, "I'll come back and have dinner with you tomorrow, okay? Don't be mad."
Victoria's gentle voice came from behind, but he still didn't speak.
He didn't push her away either, just kept running the water and checking the temperature.
After a while, Alexander finally spoke, "The water's ready. You can take your bath. I'm heading out."
After saying that, he tried to pry her arms off his waist.
But he found that Victoria was holding on tight, not letting go.
He closed his eyes and said, "Do you want me to bathe you?"
He said it casually, knowing that even though they had been close, she was always shy and would never agree to such a thing while fully awake.
Unless she was too tired to move, she would reluctantly let him bathe her.
But to his surprise, Victoria, who was holding on to him, actually replied, "Yes."
Alexander's body stiffened a bit, his expression froze, and he asked in a low voice, "What did you say?"
Victoria pressed her forehead against his back, her long hair falling on either side of her face, just covering her murmuring lips.
She bit her lower lip and continued, "I'm tired and don't wanna move. Can you bathe me?"
Sometimes, acting on impulse came with a price.
In the bathroom, as Alexander bathed her, they naturally ended up making love.
The bathtub, the sink, every corner of the bathroom bore the marks of their passion.
Alexander was eagerly trying out various positions with Victoria.
In the pitch-black winter night, the room was filled with soft moans, and the half-moon hid behind the clouds, revealing only a sliver.
The next morning, at the breakfast table.
Landon was munching on his breakfast while sneaking glances at Victoria and Alexander, who were sitting across from him.
Seeing Alexander's blissful expression, he secretly despised him. Alexander had been so unhappy last night.
Then he noticed the ambiguous bite marks on Alexander's chiseled jawline, as if he wanted them to be visible to everyone.
And then he looked at Victoria, who was wrapped up tightly, even wearing a scarf while eating breakfast. It was too obvious.
Victoria kept her head down, drinking her oatmeal, silently cursing Alexander for last night.
When she got up this morning and looked in the mirror, she saw that her body was covered in his bites. Her neck was even worse, covered in marks that couldn't be hidden even with a turtleneck sweater, so she had to wear a scarf.
Landon thought he was being sneaky, but then he heard Alexander's icy voice from across the table. "Do you want to lose your eyes?"
He shivered and quickly looked down, continuing to eat his breakfast.
Victoria could feel Landon's burning, inquisitive gaze. It was too awkward.
Alexander noticed her lowering her head more and more as she ate, so he scolded Landon.
"Alright, he won't dare look anymore. Lift your head," Alexander said, placing his broad hand on her forehead and gently forcing her to lift her head.
Victoria was speechless. This was even more awkward!
She usually didn't act like this, but it was all because of him. She turned and glared at Alexander before continuing to eat.
When they were about to leave, Alexander went upstairs to get their coats.
Landon saw Alexander go upstairs and quickly darted over to Victoria. "Victoria, I invested in DH like you suggested, and they actually beat Phoenix Fury."
Landon was quite excited. "You're amazing. A lot of people didn't believe in DH and bet on Phoenix Fury instead. I made several times my money back. I'll transfer the money to you later."
Victoria knew why many people didn't believe in DH. They were a new team, but people forgot who their coach was.
With that person, how could they lose?
Not only would they not lose, but they would also become a legendary team in the esports world. It was just a matter of time.
Landon rubbed his chin and said, "But I think DH's playstyle is very similar to CyberNova, who retired from the esports scene years ago."
Alexander, who had just come downstairs with their coats, saw the two of them whispering in the living room.
Talking was fine, but Landon stood too close to Victoria.
As Landon spoke, he suddenly felt a chill down his spine. He turned around and met Alexander's cold gaze. The weather was already cold, and now it felt even colder for him.
Seeing Alexander walking down like a judge, Landon quickly said to Victoria, "I have to go now."
After saying that, he quickly ran off.
"What was Landon talking to you about?" Alexander asked as he shook out her coat and helped her put it on.
Victoria remembered Landon's request not to tell Alexander about it, so she said, "He said he seems to have a crush on a girl recently and wanted to know what gifts girls like."
Alexander frowned slightly but didn't say anything.
