Chapter 182 Marlowe said he would accompany you on the business trip.

"I ain't dumb, I've known for ages that Michelle's into Grant," Lila shot back.

Lila clocked Michelle right away. After all, they were both in the entertainment biz, so it was not like Michelle was a stranger.

Marlowe looked kinda taken aback.

"But seriously, what went down between you two?" Lila pressed.

She'd eavesdropped on their quick chat at Fairy. Lila remembered they used to be tight, so for Marlowe to ice her out like that, Michelle must've pulled some shady stuff.

Victoria was eavesdropping too, but she was only catching bits and pieces.

Marlowe took a sec to gather her thoughts before spilling the tea.

Turns out, she and Michelle were college buddies, both dance majors. They were tight until their senior year when they entered a dance competition together. Right before Marlowe was about to hit the stage, she found her costume shredded. Later, she found out it was Michelle, her so-called friend, who did it. Marlowe was shook and confronted her, which blew up their friendship.

"Probably her ego. Back then, I only put up with her 'cause of you," Lila scoffed. She never vibed with Michelle, thought she was fake. It was Marlowe's big heart that made her tolerate Michelle.

Over the years, Michelle just got better at playing pretend.

Victoria nodded along, trying to keep up.

Lila added, "You probably don't know, but she's killing it now. She's a big-shot young dancer, everyone loves her. If you hadn't bailed on that championship, she wouldn't be where she is now. Now she's even the youngest mentor in the dance world, got the gig at just twenty-six."

Lila laid out Michelle's achievements for Marlowe.

Honestly, Marlowe hadn't kept tabs on her. If Lila hadn't filled her in, she'd still be in the dark. After marrying Grant, she kinda checked out from the world, no gossip, no socializing, barely touched her phone. If she hadn't reconnected with Lila and Victoria, she'd still be living in her bubble.

"But her dancing is legit," Marlowe admitted. She couldn't deny Michelle's talent.

Back in school, the teachers always hyped both of them up.

Lila wasn't having it. "Her dancing's good, but next to you? She's got nothing. Right, babe?"

Victoria had seen Marlowe dance and knew she was fire, but she'd never seen Michelle. Still, she had Marlowe's back. "Totally."

Just then, Grant walked in from a business trip. David saw him and grabbed his coat. "Mr. Scott, you're back."

Grant plopped on the sofa, eyes closed, rubbing his temples. "Where's Marlowe?" he asked, sounding beat.

Usually, when he got back from a trip, Kevin would give Marlowe a heads-up, and she'd whip up some tea that worked wonders for his headaches.

"Mr. Scott, didn't you take her with you?" David asked, confused. He'd been wondering why Grant came back solo.

Grant froze, thinking he misheard. "What did you just say?"

"Second day of your trip, Mrs. Scott packed up and left early. I asked where she was headed, and she said there was a banquet on your end, so she went to find you," David explained. Realizing something was off, he quickly added, "She didn't find you?"

Grant's brow furrowed, and he immediately made a call. Soon, Kevin showed up at the villa.

Grant's voice was low and serious. "Tell me, where is she?"
