Chapter 38 Is She Addicted to Acting?

Thalia grinned, "It wasn't a joke, it's a celebration."

Mia looked curious, "What celebration?"

She remembered Victoria had just called off her engagement with Lucas. So, what was the good news?

"Thalia, didn't Victoria break up with Lucas?" Mia asked, confused.

Thalia frowned at Lucas's name, "Lucas isn't good enough for Victoria; he's not even worth her time."

Mia smiled, agreeing, "Yeah, he's really not."

She knew Thalia never liked Lucas.

Even though Lucas was handsome, he wasn't smart, falling for someone like Clara.

Mia said, "Victoria is beautiful, smart, and has great character. The Tudor family, who only care about power and status, aren't a match for her. She deserves better."

Thalia nodded, "Yes, Victoria deserves better. Alexander from the Howard family is perfect."

Alexander from the Howard family?

Mia was surprised, "You mean the Howard family from Stellaria, the century-old family?"

"Yes," Thalia nodded.

"Did your family help?" Mia asked cautiously.

Though Thalia was old, her eyes were sharp. She calmly said, "No."

Mia didn't bring it up again.

At noon.

Victoria and Alexander planned to pick up Thalia for dinner at Starlight Diner.

It was time to introduce him to Thalia.

But in the afternoon, something came up, and she couldn't pick up Thalia on time, so she had Alexander's subordinate do it.

By the time she finished work and rushed to Starlight Diner, it was already seven.

Just as she was about to enter, a sharp voice called out behind her.

"Isn't this Victoria, who always wanted to harm her own sister?"

She didn't want to respond, but the person insisted.

Julia Hughes quickly ran up to block Victoria's path.

Julia was shorter, so she had to look up at Victoria.

She arrogantly said, "Are you deaf? I called you, and you pretended not to hear."

Victoria narrowed her eyes, a cold light flashing, "I understand eight languages, but I haven't learned animal language."

Julia didn't get it at first and thought she was bragging. She sneered, "Ridiculous, you know eight languages? You didn't even go to college. Do you think you're Clara? Stop bragging!"

Victoria rolled her eyes. Julia really had a problem.

A soft voice chimed in, "Sister, I apologize for Julia. She didn't mean to offend you. She was just standing up for me. How could you say her words aren't human? That's too hurtful."

Julia suddenly realized what Victoria meant and her hostility grew.

Victoria glanced at the kind and gentle Clara. Was she addicted to acting?

Julia, furious, said sarcastically, "Clara, why are you apologizing? She should apologize. My cousin is right not to like her. Someone disgraceful and cruel like her doesn't deserve to be my cousin's wife."

Victoria frowned slightly, listening without showing any emotion.

Clara tried to calm Julia down, "Julia, don't say that. She's just struggling with Lucas calling off the engagement."

Seeing Clara always being so kind made Julia even angrier. "Clara, why are you always so nice to her? She doesn't appreciate it. She's hurt you multiple times, almost costing you your life, and you still defend her."

Clara's hesitant and fragile demeanor made people want to protect her.

This was Clara's most powerful and frequently used trick.

After Julia finished, she turned to Victoria and said arrogantly, "Listen, Victoria, my cousin loves Clara. Stay away from them, or I'll make you regret it."

Victoria looked at Julia, who was showing off, as if she were an idiot.

Clara lowered her head slightly, a hint of pride in her eyes.

Suddenly, Julia changed her tone, mocking, "Can you even afford to eat here at Starlight Diner?"

"What? If non-humans can come, why can't I?" Victoria said with a cold smile.

Julia was about to curse but then had an idea.

Starlight Diner was hard to book. They were there because Lucas had used connections to get a private room.

She was sure Victoria couldn't book a room there.

"Do you know the private rooms at Starlight Diner need to be booked in advance? We’re here because Lucas booked it a week ago for Clara. Want to join us?" Julia said proudly.

Victoria's cold eyes glanced at her, "A week?"

Julia mocked, "You bumpkin. The private booths here need a platinum card. You wouldn't have one."

"People usually book a month in advance, and even then, they might not get a reservation. But Lucas got it in less than a week for Clara. Not everyone can do that."

Victoria looked coldly at the smug Julia and asked, "So what?"

"I see you don't have a chance to eat here, so we'll kindly let you experience it," Julia mocked, planning to embarrass Victoria during dinner.

Victoria knew her intentions and smiled, "Sure."

Julia couldn't hide her happiness and grabbed Clara's hand, then told Victoria the room number, "Room 202, follow us."

Victoria said, "Okay, I'll just go to the restroom and be right there."

Julia ignored her and led Clara to the front desk. After providing their reservation number, a waiter escorted them to the reserved booth.

"I knew she would agree. Someone like her should consider it an honor to dine here," Julia taunted as she walked with Clara.

A sly look flashed in Clara's eyes, and she softly said, "Julia, don't say that about Victoria, she..."

Julia interrupted impatiently, "Stop worrying about her. Tonight, I'll make sure she leaves in disgrace and never shows up again."

Clara stopped talking, a slight sinister smile on her lips.

She had plenty of ways to deal with Victoria without lifting a finger.

Victoria stood at the front desk, watching Julia and Clara leave, and flashed a cold smile.

"I'd like to speak to your manager," she said to the girl at the front desk with a smile.
