Chapter 501 Money is Being Distributed
Victoria and Lila managed just three hours of sleep before being woken up. The bridal pickup was scheduled for 8 AM, which meant the bride needed to rise early for preparations.
Due to her late night and early morning, Victoria dozed through most of her makeup session with her eyes closed. She was so exhausted that she'd forgotten what nervousness even felt like.
Now it was Lila who was worried. Should they block the door when the groom arrived, as tradition suggested, to add some entertainment to the wedding?
"Lila, maybe we should skip the door-blocking when they come for Victoria," Sarah suggested, noticing her indecision.
Kimberly offered, "Why don't we ask Mrs. Howard what she thinks?"
Victoria, still half-asleep, heard someone calling her name. She opened her eyes, revealing her exhaustion. "What is it?"
Lila began explaining the door-blocking tradition, but Victoria interrupted her, "Let's skip all that. When they arrive, we'll just go."
Lila fell silent, feeling somewhat deflated.
Victoria's reasoning was simple—she was tired, and looking at the day's packed schedule, she just wanted to get married without unnecessary complications.
"Besides," Victoria added with a smile, "as long as they pay enough, isn't that what matters?"
Lila brightened at this perspective. While none of the bridesmaids needed money, who would turn it down? What better time to make the groom pay up?
"What if I drain your husband's entire fortune?" Lila teased.
"I'm not worried. Make him spend all he has—when he runs out, I still have plenty," Victoria replied confidently.
"Such a wealthy woman, so self-assured," Lila clicked her tongue in admiration.
By 7:30 AM, Victoria's makeup and hair were finally complete.
Angela brought out the first wedding outfit. "Mrs. Howard, let's get you dressed."
"All right."
When Victoria emerged in her first wedding ensemble, everyone in the room was stunned. The delicate, flowing gown transformed her into a classical beauty, as if she'd stepped from a painting. Her perfect figure and exquisite makeup made her the most beautiful bride imaginable.
"My God," Lila exclaimed dramatically, "I knew you were beautiful, but today you're absolutely stunning. I almost want to marry you myself!"
Victoria remained silent.
"Miss Scott," Kimberly gently reminded, "you'd better not compete with Mr. Howard for Victoria—you wouldn't stand a chance."
Sarah gazed at Victoria in her wedding dress, feeling both nostalgic and delighted.
Meanwhile, Alexander and his groomsmen had arrived outside Wind Sleep Villa but were waiting for the appointed time to enter.
"Alexander, do you think they'll make it difficult for us to take Victoria away?" Landon wondered aloud.
Alexander, dressed in a matching ensemble to Victoria's wedding attire and holding a custom bouquet, replied in his deep voice, "I'm giving you all a maximum of thirty minutes."
The others fell silent. This was generous by his standards.
Gideon clapped Alexander's shoulder. "Don't worry, there's nothing money can't solve." He gestured toward Garrett, who was holding a stack of property deeds worth millions of dollars.
Landon glanced at them silently.
"Alexander, can I join Victoria's bridesmaids?" Landon suddenly asked.
Everyone went quiet.
Gideon promptly smacked the back of Landon's head, producing an audible sound.
"Why did you hit me?" Landon rubbed his head. "I didn't say anything wrong!"
"Are you really that money-hungry?" Gideon asked.
"Obviously. Who doesn't want more money?"
He was the "poorest" among them, after all. Besides, Alexander had never gifted him a house before—why not take advantage now?
When the time came, Victoria sat quietly in the center of the bed, waiting.
Downstairs, Lila, Sarah, Kimberly, Winter, and Nancy blocked the entrance. Thomas and Bryan had also joined them.
"What are you two doing here?" Gideon asked them, exasperated.
Thomas smiled cryptically and looked at Alexander. "You think getting a marriage certificate is enough? If you want to take Vicky today, you'll have to get past me first."
Bryan cleared his throat and added, "And me."
Garrett stepped forward, eyeing Thomas. "What game are you playing?"
"I'm not playing with you—I'm playing with the groom," Thomas replied.
Gideon and the others remained silent. These guys were bold!
The bridesmaids were also quiet, realizing these two men were taking over their role. Perhaps it was for the best—they wouldn't have to risk offending Alexander themselves.
"Actually, Alexander," Lila quickly adapted, "Victoria told us to let you up immediately when you arrived. This wasn't our idea." She pointed innocently at Thomas and Bryan, distancing herself from their scheme.
Thomas and Bryan were speechless.
Alexander glanced at Thomas. "What's your game?"
Thomas smiled slightly. "Quick questions, quick answers. You must respond within three seconds. If you get them all right, I'll step aside."
Alexander didn't even flinch. "Fine."
Thomas immediately asked, "How many letters are in the bride's name?"
Alexander answered instantly, "Fifteen."
The others were still counting when Alexander responded. When they finished, they confirmed it was indeed fifteen letters.
"What are the last four digits of the bride's driver's license?"
"4520."
"What are the bride's three favorite activities?"
"Eating, sleeping, and being with me."
Thomas was speechless at this answer, but Alexander's confidence suggested it was accurate.
"When did you two first meet?"
"When I was four and she had just been born."
Many people present didn't know Alexander had met Victoria when they were children, so this revelation surprised them.
Thomas continued, "What do you love about the bride?"
Alexander answered steadily, "Everything."
"Who was your first love?"
"My wife, Victoria."
"Did you have a crush on anyone before getting married?"
"Yes."
"Who was that person?"
"My wife."
Thomas asked about ten questions in total, and Alexander answered each one immediately, with responses that made everyone envious.
These questions weren't challenging Alexander—they were showcasing his devotion.
Gideon and the others realized that Alexander had been secretly in love with Victoria all along. If he had met her as a child and harbored feelings since then, that was quite the long game.
Thomas nudged Bryan with his shoulder. "Your turn."
Bryan replied, "You've asked everything already. What's left for me to ask?"
He then stepped aside, creating space for Alexander to pass.
Behind them, the bridesmaids had already lined up along both sides of the staircase, creating a path.
Thomas remained silent.
Gideon checked the time—only ten minutes had passed. Best to move quickly.
Before heading upstairs, Alexander told Garrett, "Give them the items."
"No problem," Garrett replied, holding five property deeds. "Ladies, time for your payment."
The bridesmaids were shocked to see that the "payment" consisted of actual property deeds.
