Chapter 64 Landon Likes Gossip

"Did you know our grandparents knew each other? Was the blind date your idea?" Victoria asked, noticing Alexander's lack of surprise.

Alexander smirked, "Why aren't you surprised?"

He was being sly; she had asked first.

"My grandma Davis said she knew your grandpa Howard a long time ago. Actually, she was friends with your grandma, too," Victoria replied.

Alexander wrapped his arm around her waist as they walked into the yard. "Yeah, I found out a bit before you."

Victoria frowned. "How much earlier?"

His next words left her speechless.

"When I was five or six. My grandma was in the hospital, and your grandma came to visit," Alexander explained.

"So, the blind date?" Victoria squinted.

She felt like she was being played.

Alexander shrugged. "Just a total coincidence, arranged by my grandpa. I only went because you were going."

"Alright, I'll give you that," Victoria smiled.

Alexander grinned. "Should I thank you for understanding?"

Victoria laughed. "Just cook me something good."

"Deal," Alexander agreed.

As they entered the living room, they heard Nathan's cheerful voice.

"Thalia, long time no see," Nathan greeted.

"Nathan, it's been ages. Didn't expect we'd meet as in-laws," Thalia replied happily.

Saskia and Preston were there too.

After greetings, they all started chatting.

Alexander took a phone call, giving Saskia a chance to talk to Victoria.

"These days, I have to wait until Alexander's not around to talk to you," Saskia sighed.

Victoria smiled awkwardly. She hadn't expected Alexander to be so protective, probably worried Saskia would spill childhood stories.

"Mom, he's probably just cautious," she said.

Saskia rolled her eyes. "Cautious I'll badmouth him?"

She knew him well.

Victoria nodded.

Saskia changed the topic. "You two seem closer lately, huh?"

Victoria was surprised. How could she tell?

"But Alexander's smart. Never thought he'd move in with you in that apartment. Shows he cares," Saskia said bluntly.

"Victoria, if he ever bullies you or makes you unhappy, don't hold back. Give him a hard time, okay?" Saskia continued.

Landon had just come back and sat on the sofa, listening to their conversation.

Neither of them paid him any attention.

Victoria asked curiously, "How should I give him a hard time?"

Saskia grinned, "Easy. Max out his credit cards—oh wait, you probably can't. Just vanish for a while, and go somewhere he can't find you. Or hang out with some handsome guys to annoy him. I know some places. Need tips?"

Victoria was stunned. Could she really do that?

Saskia seemed so elegant, but who knew she had such a playful side and would teach her daughter-in-law to mess with her own son?

Landon watched, amused. "Aren't you worried Alexander will come after you for teaching Victoria this stuff?" he teased.

Saskia finally noticed him. "What are you doing here?"

Landon paused, mid-hair ruffle. Was he really that invisible? He was a good-looking guy, after all.

"Wait, you haven't met before. How did you know Victoria is your brother's wife?" Saskia asked.

Landon had just returned to the country yesterday, so it was impossible for him to have met Victoria.

Landon, looking relaxed, said, "I saw her in Alexander's office yesterday."

Saskia perked up. "Alexander's office?"

"Yeah, she was bringing him lunch," Landon nodded.

Saskia was surprised. Victoria didn't get what the big deal was.

Landon noticed her confusion and explained, "Alexander never lets any woman near his private spaces, including his office. Since he took over Vertex Holdings Group at eighteen, you're the first woman to enter his office."

He nodded at Saskia. "Even our mom hasn't been in there."

Saskia agreed.

Victoria was speechless. She had no idea.

"Including his courtyard at the Howard Villa, all the staff are male. Same for his private residence," Landon added.

Saskia nodded. "He's right. I only went there once, and he never let me back."

Victoria thought Saskia might be upset, but she seemed fine with it.

Victoria found Alexander's quirks interesting. She hadn't expected this.

"But he doesn't have a cleanliness obsession," Victoria said.

Saskia laughed, "His cleanliness obsession is only towards us, except for you. He's been like this since he was a kid. He didn't mind changing your diapers, but he hated it when we touched his clothes."

Victoria was stunned, and even Landon was shocked. He stared at Saskia. "How come I didn't know about this?"

"There are many things you don't know," Saskia replied.

Though it happened a long time ago, Victoria felt a bit embarrassed.

Luckily, Alexander finished his call and returned, breaking the awkwardness.

But Landon couldn't resist. "Alexander, Mom said you changed Victoria's diapers?"

This was too embarrassing.
