Chapter 30 Are You Dating Behind My Back?

11 a.m.

Victoria got a voice message from Lila.

Lila said, "Hey, I'll be at Rihegde by 3 PM. Can you pick me up?"

Victoria said, "Weren't you coming back next Tuesday?"

Lila said, "Plans changed. Can't talk now, boarding the plane. I'll explain later."

Victoria said, "Okay."

At noon, Alexander showed up as usual to take her to Starlight Diner for lunch. They'd gotten used to this routine. Their relationship was moving so fast, it felt unreal to Victoria. Neither mentioned last night's kiss.

"So, what time are we heading to your place this afternoon?" Victoria asked while eating, planning to pick up Lila and skip the office.

Alexander paused, looked at her gently, and said, "No rush, around six. Got something to do?"

He usually didn't talk during meals but made an exception for her.

"Just picking up a friend this afternoon. Won't be back at the office," Victoria explained.

Alexander narrowed his eyes and asked quietly, "Guy or girl?"

Victoria was surprised, then smiled, "A girl."

Hearing this, Alexander's eyes softened, "Alright, give me the address, and I'll pick you up."

"Okay."

"Now, eat up."

Victoria nodded, "Hmm."

She always wondered why he liked her. They'd only met a few times. Was it love at first sight? She'd asked him, and he said she was just the one. Did they know each other before? She couldn't remember.

With these thoughts, she left to pick up Lila at 2:30 PM.

At 3:10 PM, she met Lila at the exit.

Lila rushed in for a hug, and Victoria caught her just in time.

"Honey, I missed you so much. Let me hug you."

Victoria sighed, "Alright."

After a while, Lila let go and looked at her thoughtfully, "Honey, you've changed in the month I've been gone."

Victoria was silent, looked at her outfit, and asked, "How have I changed?"

Lila crossed her arms, "You seem less aloof."

Victoria raised an eyebrow, "So, I was very aloof before?"

"Not exactly. You used to have this distant vibe, but now it feels like it's softened."

Lila leaned in closer, "Are you secretly dating someone?"

Victoria was taken aback by Lila's intuition. Was it that obvious?

Ignoring her, Victoria headed to her car. Lila, sensing a secret, grabbed her suitcase and chased after her, shouting, "Come on, spill the beans!"

In the car, Lila kept probing, but Victoria focused on driving. She knew discussing this while driving wasn't smart, given Lila's persistence.

"Honey, you're hiding something. Who's the guy?" Lila kept pressing.

Victoria finally snapped, "Be quiet, and I'll tell you when we get home, okay?"

Lila, satisfied with the promise, switched to talking about her business trip.

"This trip was a disaster!" Lila sighed dramatically.

Victoria, driving seriously, comforted her, "You worked hard. I'll give you a bonus."

Lila's eyes lit up, "I want a six-month bonus."

"Okay," Victoria chuckled, "A year's bonus is fine too."

Who would've thought someone from the Stewart family would work at Horizon Group?

Lila managed the film and TV company under Horizon Group. Her trip was to meet a script's original author, a world traveler. She'd been gone a month.

"Not getting the script isn't a big deal. Think of it as a vacation," Victoria consoled.

Lila sighed, trying to see it that way.

Elmrest Apartments, Lila's place, wasn't far from North Courtyard. She'd had it cleaned before returning.

Once inside, Lila pulled Victoria to the couch, arms crossed, staring at her.

Victoria sighed, seeing the interrogation coming.

Ten minutes later.

"What did you say?"

A surprised exclamation filled the room.
