Chapter 393 The So-called Truth

Victoria's cold voice pulled her memory back to the day of the competition two weeks ago.

Victoria had said in her ear, "You know, to make you shine as a high-society lady, I didn't hesitate to downplay myself to highlight your talents."

Clara stared at her with wide eyes, her face contorted with rage.

"Victoria, this was all your scheme; you are the one who made me like this." She angrily pointed at Victoria, and just as she was about to get up, someone pushed her back down.

"D0987, sit down!" a nearby officer scolded.

Now in this prison, Clara had no name, only a number.

"Did you hear that? She framed me! It was her scheme that got me into this hellhole. You should be arresting her, not me," Clara shouted at the nearby officers.

However, no one paid her any attention because they knew the truth.

Clara's crimes were all backed by solid evidence: plagiarism, stealing others' work, and even attempting to kidnap and murder. Although she didn't succeed, it was still against the law.

Victoria looked at her, sitting calmly in her chair, not taking her words to heart.

"Clara, if you called me here just to say these meaningless things, then I'll leave now," Victoria had no patience to watch her go crazy, so she lowered her voice and said coldly.

Sure enough, as soon as Clara heard she was leaving, she immediately quieted down.

"No, you can't leave!" Clara immediately said.

Now the Kennedy family didn't care about her at all. She couldn't stay in here forever; she would really go mad.

And since Oliver and Simon didn't care about her anymore, she had to get back at them somehow.

Victoria, who was just about to get up, stopped her movement and gave her a cold look, clearly saying, "If you have something to say, say it quickly. I don't have time to waste on you!"

Clara glanced at the nearby officers.

Victoria immediately understood.

Victoria looked at the officers and said, "Gentlemen, I may need to trouble you to step out for a moment. Don't worry, nothing will happen. She can't hurt me."

Hearing this, they agreed.

The most important part was her assurance.

After all, they had been instructed not to let the prisoner harm Victoria.

As soon as the officers left, Victoria's expression turned icy. "Speak," she commanded.

"Have you met your biological mother?" Clara asked.

Victoria didn't know why she was asking this, but she still responded indifferently.

Then Clara gave a strange smile and said, "Do you know why she can't stand?"

Victoria frowned. She really didn't know. Esme didn't say, and she couldn't find out. Esme's records had been wiped clean.

Seeing her frown, Clara knew she didn't know.

She laughed mockingly and suddenly said, "Actually, I quite envy you for having such a capable mother."

Victoria remained silent.

Then Clara said, "If you drop the charges and get me out, I'll tell you the truth."

Victoria leaned forward slightly, raised an eyebrow at her, and said coldly, "Go ahead."

The meaning was clear: she needed to hear if what Clara had to say was worth agreeing to her terms.

Clearly, although Clara seemed to have the upper hand, she actually didn't. Mainly because Victoria wasn't under her control, so Clara had almost no chance to negotiate with her.

Victoria was obviously in no hurry, remaining unusually calm.

In fact, Clara just didn't understand Victoria.

Victoria was never someone who easily let others see her emotions.

Someone like Clara, who was eager for quick success, was even less likely to see through her.

Clara had no choice but to speak, "One day, I passed by the study and heard a conversation between my Grandpa and Dad. They were the ones who poisoned your mother. Her legs can't stand because of chronic poisoning. Originally, they wanted her to disappear forever, but she was lucky and came back twenty years later."

Victoria couldn't believe what she heard.

She had thought it was Simon and the others who harmed Esme, but she hadn't thought of this.

I can't believe how ruthless they are, resorting to poison all for the sake of wealth and fame.

Esme had saved the Kennedy family back then; she was their savior. In the end, she was framed instead.

Although Victoria couldn't forgive Esme for faking her death back then, it didn't mean she could tolerate the Kennedy family's actions.

Because if it weren't for them, Esme might not have left her back then.

Victoria didn't say anything and left the prison.

As soon as she got out, she made a phone call.
